I am a reporter with a unique beat. I use my understanding of planetary cycles to provide advance notice and analysis on the Zeitgeist of the day. If you have ever wondered “why is this happening now,” my insights will transform your experience of the headlines, adding new meaning and understanding. Call it Astrology for News Junkies. If you’re curious to know why the Impossible Burger is trending…or why the outcome of the 2019 Israeli elections was likely to be a shocker …or why “Woodrow Wilson, Stud Muffin” was a New York Times headline in December 2013, you will find it here, in over a decade’s worth of historical research and reporting.
Note that I do use astrological jargon in The Forecast in my effort to show how the planetary patterns are reflected in mundane events. I explain what the jargon symbolizes, so that all who want to understand the connections between astrology and the news may do so. However, I do not use astrological jargon in personal consultations, just plain English.

Monday 12/5/2022: Late Sneak Peek at the Week; Full Moon in Gemini; Jupiter at the End of the World (with Mercury-Venus)
/in The ForecastIt’s Monday. Do you know where your planets are?
(Eh. It’s now Wednesday).
How is your week going?
Here’s what’s been happening:
So…big news…big revelation…big fight…ending with a big wallet or heart.
A long pause…as I had to step away from my computer on Monday (as described above).
Observations:
Back to the Forecast:
And now, the news.
Neptune turned direct over the weekend. Neptune refers to conspiracy, lies, drugs, dreams, illusions, oceans, the surreal and that which is “out there.” Mercury and Venus made contact with Neptune, and this week, they connect with Jupiter. So we add themes of “BIG” to the mix, especially in areas of courts, sports, publishing and foreign affairs (as I posted on Twitter a few days ago). Finally we add the military/athletic/firearms themes of today’s Mars – Sun opposition.
Ready?
UPDATE: on Michael Avenatti, who was convicted of stealing millions from his clients in more than one case against him. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison. It’s interesting that the bubbles of his deception began to make news in late 2018, when Neptune turned direct, as it has just done. Neptune has been all over the angles of his horoscope for the past few years, suggesting potential scandal and wipe out. It will be interesting to see where he’s at two years from now — especially if he’s in the news again.
UPDATE: on others with horoscopes that have planets at the Aries Point, activated this week by Mercury and Venus…and all this month by Jupiter. File these under “I told you so,” ’cause their headline-making potential was called in advance.
UPDATE: on Raphael Warnock and Herschel Walker. We don’t have birth times for either of them, but as I said on Twitter yesterday, if I were a betting person, I would have put my two cents on the candidate with transiting Jupiter trine his natal Sun-Mercury conjunction, and also opposing his natal Jupiter-Uranus conjunction, suggesting an attention-getting windfall opportunity. That candidate was Raphael Warnock, who gets to keep his Senate seat. But OMG…what a nail biter the returns were last night.
Finally, two silver linings to this unexpectedly delayed forecast.
First, because it’s delayed, I can share the link to Stephen Colbert‘s amazingly-in-sync show from last night. He partnered with the USO and took a trip to the US Space Force’s base in Thule, Greenland. It’s out there — and there’s music (Neptune refers to music). The whole episode is a treat!
Second, I can link Greg Olear’s post from Sunday (which I didn’t get to reading until today). It reflects the awesomeness of the unknown (Neptune turning direct), and — and — and — what I’ve been writing about Jupiter at the verrrrrry end of Pisces being the apparent END OF THE WORLD…except it isn’t!! I don’t know how I stumbled across Olear on Substack, but I’m so glad I did. He doesn’t have a paywall, so anyone can read his weekly offerings. However, I choose to be a paid subscriber because what he writes about enriches my life in ways that mainstream media does not. I always learn something new — e.g., about a historical figure, or a pressing societal concern. And I’m delighted to share his work with you.

Friday 12/2/2022 & the Weekend: This Guy Again (Neptune Direct & In the News); Election Day Eclipse Update
/in The ForecastTGIF!!
It’s been such a big news week that I just had to make time to share all the astro-logic with you.
First, here’s a reminder of the Forecast for the weekend:
No sleeping in on Monday. The Taurus Moon will not be void. We may see a surprise twist around noon ET, when the Moon meets up with Uranus, disruptor of the status quo. I’ll be watching for an effort to cut losses or regain control around 9 PM ET, when the Moon squares streamlining Saturn.
And now, the news.
As you will hear in Episode 21 of Off the Charts: A Stellar Newscast (released this morning!), plenty of disruptive stories were right on schedule, reflecting the Election Day total lunar eclipse being activated on December 1st by transiting Uranus. Avid Readers will recall that when eclipses are activated, we anticipate accelerated activity, as in a genie jumps out of a bottle or a curtain falls. The activity has likely been brewing in plain sight, but the activation makes everyone aware of it.
In other news…
I was wondering how this week’s opposition between Venus and Mars — two planets associated with couples, in the language of astrology — would play out in the news, especially with Mercury and Venus also square Neptune (ideals) and sextile Saturn (laws). Not to mention that Neptune — a facilitator of romance — is demanding focus this week as it stations direct. The Senate passed the Respect for Marriage Act, enshrining recognition of same-sex marriages into federal law. The House is expected to pass the bill by early next week.
Mercury-Venus in Sagittarius was expected to push boundaries of good taste, especially when provoked by Mars in (words as weapons) Gemini. Stephen Colbert has more on this story.
Meanwhile…
Signs of Neptune (drugs, spirituality, wipe out, fraud, oceans, oil, refugees, victims, surrender, dreams) demanding focus this week:
In other news…
It makes sense that Emmanuel Macron would be commanding our attention now, with three planets in his horoscope activated by Jupiter (good fortune; expansion), at the Aries Point (demanding prominence). He and his wife were the honored guests at President Biden’s first state dinner. Macron’s horoscope has been discussed many times in this forecast. Last time was in April 2022.
Finally…
Avid Listeners of Off the Charts: A Stellar Newscast are aware that Whitney and I have different approaches in our interpretation of the horoscope. We use different house systems, for example. And because many listeners have asked us to explain further how it is possible that two astrologers can use different systems of analysis and still arrive at a consensus, we decided create a video. We ran a contest for patron subscribers of Off the Charts and chose one at random to be our “client” for a joint consultation. We’re grateful to Avid Listener K for being such a good sport — and for her comments on our analysis. We hope you find this video fun, informative and worthwhile…with much gratitude for your support.
Here’s the 411 on personal consultations...and yes, gift certificates — via snail mail and email are available!

Christmas in Gdansk, the Neptune’s Fountain
Monday 11/28/2022: Sneak Peak at the Week; Neptune Turns Direct; Jupiter Direct in the News
/in The ForecastIt’s Monday night. Do you know where your planets are? Spoilin’ for a fight, possibly — especially if these particular planets are making contact with your unique horoscope. By Friday, we are likely to be feeling the dreamy and/or bewildering spin, as Neptune turns direct on Saturday.
It goes like this:
It is fascinating that in this week with its rare opposition between Venus and Mars (love and desire), with rose-colored Neptune humming in the background, Beth Owl’s Daughter’s Tarot Card of the Week is…the Two of Cups.
And now, the news.
A week of no exact aspects among the planets — except to the Moon — suggested a tipping point. Color it red with the easy flow of militant action suggested by today’s Mars-Saturn trine. Color it blue with the focused energy of Jupiter (big!) turning direct at the verrrrrrry end of Pisces, with its themes of empathy, oceans, spirits and the end of the world.
We had two tipping points Heather Cox Richardson needed to tell us over the holiday weekend:
Another tipping point:
With Mars in Gemini square Neptune at a virtual standstill, 2022’s Word of the Year, according to Merriam-Webster, is…gaslighting.
Actual NYT headline:
UPDATE: As predicted, the threat of a railway strike looms again. Thanks, Mars retrograde in Gemini!
In other news…
Jupiter in Pisces suggests big news about floods…and the end of the world:
Random article — just because it’s fascinating: “How keeping warm wards off loneliness.”
Jupiter is close enough to 0 degrees Aries to be at the Aries Point. Avid Readers will recall that the Aries Point suggests prominence, as in FAME. I’m sad to report that Irene Cara, famous for singing “Fame,” died last week at 63. Here’s the song.
But getting back to the end of the world…with Jupiter near the end of Pisces…and Neptune in Pisces blaring like a car horn on themes of empathy, healing and divine intervention. In Greg Olear’s Sunday post, he writes about a song of transcendence: Calling All Angels, performed by Jane Siberry (and kd lang). Perhaps you are wondering if Neptune is strong in Siberry’s horoscope? Of course it is. She has Venus conjunct Neptune in Libra — a sublime artist.
I hope you all had a peaceful Thanksgiving holiday — if you happened to spend last Thursday in America.
Here is the 411 on personal consultations. Yes, I have gift certificates available — handcrafted snail mail ones or I can send them via email. ‘Tis the season!!
Here is the CORRECT LINK to my guest appearance on Christi Clemons Hoffman’s Radiate Wellness podcast. We had such fun! UPDATE: howling with laughter over the realization that the link that was sent out to email subscribers wasn’t actually correct. But really, it IS the correct link now. Thanks for supporting Small Business Saturday (it’s a one-woman show here at Grace Astrology — d’oh!).
Meanwhile…
Whitney and I aren’t recording a new episode of Off the Charts: A Stellar Newscast this week. However, we are offering a fun video for our patron subscribers. Avid Listeners are aware that Whitney and I have different approaches to our horoscope interpretation, and they have peppered us with questions about how exactly how we differ. So we chose one of our patron subscribers at random and offered her a complimentary Zoom session. Whitney offers her take on the horoscope, and then I offer mine. Then Whitney offers her take on near-term opportunities and challenges, and I present mine. Our appreciative winning patron subscriber was kind enough to give us feedback on our different approaches, and we hope you will find it fascinating. You can sign up here to receive an email notification when this premium video is published — ideally on Friday. We wanted to give a little extra to Avid Listeners who give a little extra to us.
Finally…
Thanks to Avid Reader Jennifer who wanted to make sure I didn’t miss this perfect reflection of the Sabian Symbol for last week’s New Moon in Sagittarius. It was “an ocean covered in white caps.” And here it is. Astrology. Is. Amazing.
Thank you for reading this forecast — and sharing it with your friends.
Monday 11/21/2022: Sneak Peek at the Week; New Moon in Sagittarius; Jupiter Direct; Mars Square Neptune in the News
/in The ForecastIt’s Monday. Do you know where your planets are?
First — a podcast alert! Whitney & I released Episode 20 of Off the Charts: A Stellar Newscast, and word on the street is that it’s our best one yet. We are THRILLED by the response — and even more excited by Avid Listeners who are backing words of praise with pledges of financial support. Thank you for letting us know that these astrological insights are literally worthwhile.
Second — another podcast alert! I was a guest on Christi Clemons Hoffman’s “Radiate Wellness” podcast — radiating clarity in a chat recorded before Election Day. Christi is a healer on a multitude of levels, and her podcast archives are stuffed to the gills with fascinating guests.
The Libra Moon was void this morning, reflected by any wandering start you may have had to this Thanksgiving holiday week. Hopefully you rolled with any twists and flakes, and didn’t make a mountain out of a molehill. At 12:15 PM ET, Moon entered Scorpio, seeking to be appreciated for its depth and substance. The only aspect for the rest of the day is a meet-up between Mercury (how we need to think) and Venus (who, what and how we need to love) in boundary-pushing, righteously opinionated Sagittarius. The sky’s the limit — and we’ll see that reflected in what is expressed in the headlines.
Highlights this week are:
Note that there are no exact aspects among the planets (except those involving the Moon) from Tuesday (11/22) until next Monday (11/28) That’s seven days, and what I’ve noticed during these apparent lulls in planetary action is a release of energy not unlike a glacier suddenly collapsing into the sea. Just like that. The landscape is forever changed. Exhibit A: the last lull coincided with the home invasion and assault on Speaker Pelosi’s husband. That attack was not uniformly condemned by leaders of the Republican Party, and that is what made it a game-changer. How times have changed since August 2011, when then-Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was warmly received by both parties upon her return to Congress, seven months after surviving an attempted assassination.
The pattern that will be exact next Monday is the second trine between Mars (now retrograde) and Saturn. By “second,” I mean the second trine in the current Mars retrograde cycle. The first trine happened on September 28th. This trine suggests an easy flow of airy energy — the kind you’d expect from a hurricane, commanded by a five-star general.
Later that week, on December 1st, the total lunar eclipse we had on Election Day will be activated by rebel Uranus. We may be surprised by news related to actions taken on November 8th. We have other reasons to expect provocative and potentially bewildering headlines that week, as Mercury opposes Mars on November 29; followed by Venus opposing Mars and Mercury squaring Neptune on December 1st...and Neptune, master of the sublime and the surreal, turns direct on December 3rd. Get out your rose-colored glasses.
As for THIS WEEK…
Here is the New Moon in Sagittarius chart for 5:57 PM ET, in Washington, D.C.:
Observations:
Back to the Forecast:
Here is Beth Owl’s Daughter’s always-in-sync Tarot Card of the Week.
And now, the news.
Avid Readers who follow me on Twitter were treated to a stream of headline reflecting the bewildering potential of the Mars (men, sports, guns, cars) – Neptune (surreal, fraud, scandal, drugs, oceans, music, deception, alcohol, fish) square. Here’s a sampling:
Cigars, Booze, Money: How a Lobbying Blitz Made Sports Betting Ubiquitous
This one is pure Jupiter in Pisces (empathy, suffering):
UPDATE: on Justice Samuel Alito, who is suspected source of the breach in this gifted NYT headline: “Former anti-abortion leader alleges another Supreme Court breach” This isn’t the Dobbs breach; it’s an alleged breach in the Hobby Lobby case weeks before it was released in July 2014. Quelle scandale! Oh, and the anti-abortion leader is a minister, and he wrote Chief Justice Roberts about it in July 2022, so Roberts and the NYT have been sitting on this story for some time. We were likely to hear about Justice Alito right about now, with Jupiter almost exactly opposing his natal Mars, and we’ll be hearing from him again in January, when Jupiter will square his 1 Capricorn Ascendant and 1 Cancer Uranus.
I wrote about Alito’s horoscope in July 2014, and it fascinating to note that Saturn was at 16 Scorpio when the Burwell v. Hobby Lobby decision was handed down. That means it was eclipsed on November 8th. We may see a rush of news involving this opinion — and its reach of authority around December 1st and/or again in the third week of June 2023. Even earlier in 2023, transiting Saturn will put the squeeze on Alito’s Venus, ruler of his Midheaven, and perhaps he too, may be feeling more diminished than expansive. Same goes for Chief Justice Roberts, whose Mercury-Pluto-Saturn t-square will be receiving a potentially streamlining reality check from taskmaster Saturn.
Heather Cox Richardson’s latest Letter from an American has just hit the wires (as I continue to write, at 1 AM). She has more on what’s really shocking about the Alito breach — and what the Senate says it will do about it, if SCOTUS doesn’t. HCR’s letter also has the latest on the former guy’s business dealings with Saudi Arabia….and speaking of the former guy, note that Merrick Garland appointed a Special Prosecutor to take over whatever TFG cases the Department of Justice has been working on. Told ya last week, TFG’s horoscope was likely to be provoked.
UPDATE on Nancy Pelosi, who announced she would remain in Congress — but not as leader of the Democratic leader. Like Samuel Alito, transiting Saturn is putting the squeeze on the ruler of her Midheaven (and also on her 18 Scorpio Moon…which is also received the disruptive energy of transiting Uranus). In Episode 20 of Off the Charts: A Stellar Newscast, Whitney and I discuss what we know of the horoscope of Speaker Pelosi’s would-be successor, Hakeem Jeffries (as well as the horoscope of the 118th Congress). If you missed Speaker Pelosi’s farewell address, here is Heather Cox Richardson’s recap.
UPDATE on Walt Disney, because Avid Reader Patricia wanted to make sure I didn’t miss the earthquake that rattled Hollywood this morning: former Disney CEO Bob Iger has been persuaded to return to the Magic Kingdom just a year after calling it quits. Since his departure, (reports The Guardian), “Disney’s share price has plummeted more than 40% over the past year, wiping almost $120bn (£101bn) off its market value.” A wipeout would be totally apt for patterns that are hot in company founder Walt Disney’s horoscope — and no, it doesn’t matter that Walt is dead. The horoscope lives forever, doncha know.
I thought I’d written about Walt Disney’s horoscope back in May, when Ron deSantis ordered the dissolution of a land-use deal that corporate Disney based its Florida operations on since 1967. However, I may have kept my observations to myself, and those would include the fact that Walt Disney’s horoscope is receiving a transit of Neptune to all the angles. Neptune dissolves whatever it touches. It can be quite bewildering — and it’s interesting that Bob Iger, corporate Disney’s designated savior, is receiving the heavy responsibility potential of transiting Saturn (in what we know of Iger’s horoscope).
Astrology is amazing.
Here’s the 411 on personal consultations.
Here’s the link to the Cosmic Tip Jar, with gratitude.
I count you among my many blessings. Wishing you a joyful, peaceful Thanksgiving holiday (if you happen to live in America).
Thank you for reading this forecast.
Monday 11/14/2022: Sneak Peek at the Week; A Whole Lotta Neptune Going On
/in The ForecastIt’s Monday!
Do you know where your personalized paragraphs of eclipse and/or Mars retrograde insights are? They are ready to be written, and I hope to send them out to all Avid Readers who are waiting for them — with gratitude for your patience.
In other news…
Do you know where your election results are?
They’re about where astrology expected they would be: razor-thin margins; final tally still too close to call; surprising wins and losses — and yet, possibly no change in the status quo — as it stands now in the Senate. Have to see about the House, though we note one volatile pattern in what we know of Kevin McCarthy’s horoscope that could reflect a lucky break. And, as patterns in the horoscope for the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision suggested, that ruling was expanded, as evidenced by the passage of pro-reproductive health care choice referenda in several states. Regardless of one’s personal stance on the issue, astrology supports one Guardian pundit’s observation that “abortion rights proved a hugely motivating force for voters in Tuesday’s midterms.” I can’t remember if I shared these thoughts in this written forecast, but I definitely did in past episodes of Off the Charts: A Stellar Newscast — with my brilliant co-host Whitney Fishburn.
Young voters also showed up at the polls, and in this ongoing square between old guard Saturn and avant-garde Uranus, young voters represent Uranus, i.e., the future. In any contest between Saturn and Uranus, the future always wins…eventually. Young voters chose Democratic candidates by a wide margin, say alleged experts. I say “alleged,” because so many “experts” got this election wrong (also as astrology anticipated).
Here are the highlights for this week:
If it weren’t for that potentially bewildering Mars-Neptune square, I might be humming Christmas carols. Then again, because Mars-Neptune patterns can reflect disorientation, that choice in music could be seen as perfectly astro-logical. I don’t know about you, but to me, Friday felt like a Saturday, and Saturday felt like a Sunday (as Mercury-Sun made contact with Neptune). Surreal.
In fact, according to the Guardian, “it was yet another surreal day” for residents of Kherson, recently liberated from an eight-month occupation by Russian forces. Where “pro-Moscow “Z” cars, trucks and armored vehicles were once parked,” President Zelenskyy now stood, greeting citizens in a surprise visit. Slava Ukraini!
Here’s how the week goes:
And now, the news.
It’s a blur — true to all these planetary connections to Neptune in the cosmic sandbox. The words “meltdown” and “wipeout” also reflect Neptune. One of the best reflections of current patterns is the “vaporizing of billions of customer deposits,” as the cryptocurrency exchange FTX collapsed. As the NYT reports:
We have so many generous, feel-good, visionary patterns among Sun-Mercury-Venus and Jupiter-Neptune-Pluto. However, that one Mars-Neptune square suggests it might not be for real. We could also file this crypto “bubble bursting” as a reflection of the long-awaited disruptive potential of the Saturn-Uranus square, first opined here in 2017. As you know, this square was active all through 2021, returning for a swan song now.
Shenanigans and meltdowns continued at Twitter last week, as Emperor Elon’s edicts enabled a plethora of impersonators to do serious financial damage to the companies whose identities they hijacked — and to Twitter itself. The impersonators do have a wicked sense of truth-telling humor, however. Have you seen these Tweets? Totally not funny: Emperor Elon laying off half of Twitter’s staff. But if you have billions and billions in the bank, what’s $44 billion if your goal is to divide and conquer…and usher in a totally new paradigm, as this guy suggests. We are due for plenty of new paradigms, especially as Pluto dips its toe into Aquarius for a few months next year, starting in March. When Pluto arrives at 0 Aquarius, it will activate the seed potential of the 2020 Great Mutation of Jupiter-Saturn at 0 Aquarius.
An aggressive attack on a communications platform also aptly reflects the potential of this long trek of Mars (aggression) in Gemini (words).
UPDATE: on Dolly Parton, whose horoscope I wrote about in January 2021, ending with the words
Those Pluto aspects continued into 2022, with one exact as I’m typing this today. We expected her to attract power and resources in the extreme, and yesterday Jeff Bezos awarded her $100 million so she could continue to “do good things.” Nice!
UPDATE: on Rudy Giuliani, who was due to make news as Jupiter (luck, reward, expansion) activated all the angles of his horoscope this month. He won’t face charges over federal lobbying, it was announced today.
UPDATE: on the former guy, who was declared the “biggest loser” by his favorite media outlets last week –– after the Republicans’ “red wave” failed to materialize. File this one under the second hit of transiting Neptune square his Sun, suggesting a potential wipeout. That happened on November 1st, and there’s a final hit on January 4th. The one bright spot we see in his horoscope could reflect daughter Tiffany’s recent wedding — or it could reflect an idealized, romanticized belief that he can declare a run for the 2024 election and actually win. Meh. Provocative action — through his own effort or through attacks from others — is suggested from now through December 3rd, and again on January 4th. Whatever.
UPDATE: on President Biden, whose current life experience arguably reflects the protective aura of transiting Jupiter trine his Venus, Sun and Ascendant. The midterm elections were “a good day for democracy,” writes Heather Cox Richardson, (if you don’t count the part about SCOTUS ensuring that gerrymandered districts that had been ruled unconstitutional by lower courts in four states could stand).
Finally, a few stories reflecting the wiggy potential of this week’s Mars-Neptune square. We expect the surreal in matters of sports, fish and then some. Yes, there are dreadful incidents involving aggression, firearms and fanaticism, but they are not listed here. You’ll find them in the headlines.
Here’s the 411 on personal consultations.
Here’s Beth Owl’s Daughter’s always-in-sync Tarot Card of the Week.
