Monday 9/30/2019: Sneak Peek at the Week; Pluto Turns Direct

The start of the work week is driven by the Moon in Scorpio, demanding depth, substance, power and control. A revelation or other disruption pops up around 2:55 PM ET, as the Moon makes its weekly clash with rebel Uranus. Notable patterns this week are as follows:

  • TUESDAY — and in effect for the past several days. Venus squares Pluto at 12:14 AM ET, suggesting extremes and power plays in matters related to women, money, art and social expression. Extremes, eh? As in the cover of the last NYT Sunday Magazine? “Photographic Dispatches from the Extremities of the Earth.”  Of course they went to extremes — and also reflected Jupiter in boundary-pushing travel bug Sagittarius, square wiggy Neptune. If you have a planet around 20-21 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn, you may be feeling a push to emotional extremes more than most (Brad Pitt, that means you).  That being said, note your dreams in the AM, as the Moon harmonizes with Neptune at 9:13 AM ET. Keep on plumbing the depths for the rest of the business day and night, as the Moon has no speed bumps in its path.
  • WEDNESDAYMoon goes void at 5:46 AM ET and enters Sagittarius a 7:44 AM ET. Such a relief, as Sag needs to express its righteous opinion with enthusiasm. This is a day to expand horizions, walk in nature, take in a foreign perspective — no speed bumps today, either.
  • THURSDAY — First, Pluto turns direct at 2:37 AM ET, but we’ve been feeling the focus on matters of power and breakdown in areas of governments, corporations and resources for at least the past week — and will continune to feel that focus for several days. Seismic activity and other news from underground is another potential. At 4:15 AM ET, Mercury (how we need to think) leaves rational Libra for emotional Scorpio, determined to get to the bottom of things without showing its hand. Scorpio is a mute sign, doncha’ know. Have you ever heard a scorpion talk? Be prepared for deafening silence and ruthless mental machinations until….December 9th. Why so long? Because, dear Avid Reader, Mercury turns retrograde for the last time this year on October 31 at 11:42 AM ET. Mercury enters its shadow period on October 12th, which suggests that contracts contracts finalized during this time may require review and revision.
  • THURSDAYMoon squares Neptune at 1:15 PM ET — a dreamy lunch on the East Coast; doublecheck your communications for clarity. By now (and all this week), we may notice that action and aggression intended to makes things right are becoming prominent. Why? Because Mars is at the end of Virgo, about to enter Libra at…
  • FRIDAY12:22 AM ET. Avid Readers know that planets at the first degree of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn demand PROMINENCE. If you have a planet around this point, you may be feeling especially provoked or assertive. Edward Snowden comes to mind, as do Meryl Streep, Elizabeth Warren, Rudy Giuliani and Dean Baquet, the editor of the New York Times. Mars is challenged in Libra, as the conflict-avoidance needs of Libra are at odds with the crusading warrior needs of Mars. Becoming a warrior for peace would be a productive effort for Mars in Libra. Otherwise, Mars in Libra can go to passive-aggressive extremes to avoid a fight.
  • FRIDAY — The Sag Moon goes void at 3:34 AM ET, not to enter Capricorn until 1:43 PM ET. If you sleep through your alarm, no big deal — as are any other twists and flakes that disrupt your morning. Chill — and stick to routine concerns. Or — if you are free to wander, indulge the boundary-pushing needs of the Sag Moon until Capricon kicks in and demands we all get down to business. Mars in Libra’s conflict-avoidance will be put to the test as it squares the Capricorn Moon’s  “make it happen already!” drive for achievement.
  • SATURDAY — All day Moon in Capricorn is apt for practical chores around the home.
  • SUNDAY — More of the same — but with the weighty buzz of two patterns that will be exact on Monday. Innovation and technology are favored by Mercury’s opposition to Uranus. The Libra Sun (patriarchs, CEOs, authority figures, heads of state) is squared by a high-functioning Saturn. More on that in the next forecast — more falls would not be unexpected.

To find out what all of these patterns mean in your own personal world, here’s the 411 on personal consultations.

And now, the news.

WaPo‘s Sunday Magazine is already in synch with the weekend’s planetary patterns. Innovative technology (Mercury opposing Uranus), Sun (rules the heart) square Saturn (control) and the regenerative powers of Pluto turning direct are all here: “The Beating Heart (A terrible crime. A medical breakthrough. A last chance at life.) It’s about a heart transplant.

Meanwhile, it’s Fashion Week in NYC — and the NYT just posted this: “Blood. Money. Oil. And Clothes.”

UPDATE: Rudy Giuliani was just subpoenaed. He’s getting Mars from all angles this week. I’ve written about his horoscope before — search the archives.

UPDATE: it’s been four years since we looked at Kevin McCarthy’s horoscope. He’s now the House Minority Leader, and for the past four years his exact Mercury-Venus conjunction in Capricorn (idealistic and strategic mindset/values that seek status and achievement) has been supercharged by Uranus (disruptive), Pluto (persuasive) — and in recent months — Saturn. Anyone with a planet around 18 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn is feeling the pressure of Saturn’s demanding reality check on whatever transpired under Uranus and Pluto. For some, as my witty and brilliant intuitive pal Peri Lyons says, it can be experienced as “the reality check that bounced.”

The third hit of Saturn on McCarthy’s Mercury-Venus occurs during the first week of December, offering a final opportunity to streamline mindset and values that no longer serve. It was under the influence of Uranus  in June 2016 that McCarthy startled certain colleagues by blurting out his opinion (an argument for him having Moon in Sagittarius) that P45 was being paid by Vladimir Putin. Oh — and there was a tape — and it was brought to light by WaPo in May 2017 (after initially being denied by House Speaker Paul Ryan (conflict-averse Moon in Libra; Neptune fog exactly on the Ascendant, just like Rudy Giuliani). Anyhoo, last night on 60 Minutes, with transiting Mars near the Aries Point almost on his 28 Virgo Mars, McCarthy challenged interviewer Scott Pelley on the exact wording of the White House transcript of the Zelensky-P45 phone call. Not only was McCarthy wrong, but it seemed that he hadn’t even read the transcript (told ya so on Friday). Thus he is being prominently attacked in today’s headlines.  His Aquarius Sun is also under the disruptive potential of a square from transiting Uranus. A shake-up between now and early 2020 would not be surprising.

Fun fact: Scott Pelley’s Jupiter is right on McCarthy’s Mars — and his Leo Sun opposes McCarthy’s. We can appreciate the potential for tension between them — as well as the potential for a disruption to Pelley’s status quo in the ensuing months, too. (Pelley: July 28, 1957 in San Antonio, TX — birth time unknown).

UPDATE: on Brad Pitt, who thankfully just showed up in my office…on the cover of US magazine. We looked at his horoscope three years ago,  when Angeline Jolie had just filed for divorce.  Guess where Pitt’s Mercury is? 16 degrees Capricorn — pretty darn close to McCarthy’s. But we have a birth time for Pitt, so we can clearly see that in his horoscope, an activated Mercury is going to impact his marriage. In 2016, it was reflected by a break-up — and now, with transiting Saturn about to make the third in a series of meet-ups, we can see he’s getting serious and focused in relationship. “Yes, I’m in love again!” blares the cover of US. In Pitt’s horoscope, Mars rules love affairs and creative expression — and right now, transiting Mars is right on his 27 Virgo Midheaven. Yep — a public declaration of a love interest — makes total sense to see that at this time. Here is Pitt’s horoscope — lots to discuss — maybe on another day.

Thank you for reading this forecast.
