I am a reporter with a unique beat. I use my understanding of planetary cycles to provide advance notice and analysis on the Zeitgeist of the day. If you have ever wondered “why is this happening now,” my insights will transform your experience of the headlines, adding new meaning and understanding. Call it Astrology for News Junkies. If you’re curious to know why the Impossible Burger is trending…or why the outcome of the 2019 Israeli elections was likely to be a shocker …or why “Woodrow Wilson, Stud Muffin” was a New York Times headline in December 2013, you will find it here, in over a decade’s worth of historical research and reporting.
Note that I do use astrological jargon in The Forecast in my effort to show how the planetary patterns are reflected in mundane events. I explain what the jargon symbolizes, so that all who want to understand the connections between astrology and the news may do so. However, I do not use astrological jargon in personal consultations, just plain English.

Monday 6/3/2024: Sneak Peek at the Week; New Moon in Gemini
/in The ForecastAllrighty then!
We have a week that begins with the potential for a diverse assortment of bright and clever ideas and ideals, backed by a high-functioning drive to walk the talk. Humming in the background are two patterns exact over the weekend which suggest that with a bit of discernment, discipline and adjustment, a number of these bright ideas could be brought to life in a lasting form. What are you working on now?
Beth Owls Daughter’s always-in-sync Tarot Card of the Week is a fiery and inspiring go-getter, so…go get it!
Highlights this week are:
It goes like this:
Observations:
Back to the weekly forecast.
And now, the news.
File these under last week’s conjunction of Mars (men), Wounded Warrior/Healer Chiron and “burn it all down” Eris in me-me-me-first Aries, and note that this triple conjunction squared Mercury in the horoscope of the United States. Ergo, it reflects an intensely provocative mindset:
“Jerry Seinfeld Says He”Misses ‘Hierarchy’ and ‘Dominant Masculinity’ in Society: ‘I Like a Real Man’” Here is what we know of Seinfeld’s provoked horoscope.
We can add in Friday’s disruptive Mercury-Uranus conjunction to the above stories.
Speaking of Mercury conjunct Uranus in Taurus, it is an apt pattern for an unconventional contest of words:
“Florida 12-year-old Bruhat Soma wins 96th Scripps National Spelling Bee after competition’s second-ever spell-off”
How’s this for Mercury-Uranus wacky wordiness? We can factor in Sunday’s Jupiter-Pluto trine in Air Signs Gemini and Aquarius (information and technology networks):
I suspected the above might spark talk of a “new deal” over the weekend, and noted this, FWIW:
Mexico has a new deal, too:
Mexico elects Claudia Sheinbaum as its first female president in landslide victory. We don’t have a birth time for Sheinbaum. She’s a Cancer, born on June 24, 1962 — with Moon in Pisces or Aries. Feels like Aries would be a good fit, given her pioneering accomplishments. Did you know she’s a Nobel Prize-winning climate scientist?
Assorted stories reflecting contacts among Jupiter, Pluto and Mercury, as described in the forecast for Tuesday:
Good news for those with asthma! In the language of astrology, Jupiter and Gemini refer to the lungs.
Finally, today is First Lady Jill Biden’s birthday, and she spent much of it in a Wilmington, Delaware courthouse, where jury selection was completed in the first of two court cases against her stepson, Hunter. Dr. Biden has three planets in Gemini: Sun, Moon, and Mars. Her rising sign is Sagittarius, same as her husband’s. Here is her horoscope, with its recently-verified time of birth.
Here’s the 411 on personal consultations.

Happy Pride Month to all who celebrate.

I’m back in New York and there’s a buzz building (I started writing this on Thursday afternoon), courtesy of Mercury’s meet-up with chaos agent Uranus at 1:54 AM ET on…
Given how this Mercury-Uranus conjunction activates the horoscope of defendant Donald John Trump, it was astro-logical for the jury to reach a verdict today, rather than tomorrow. Verdict: guilty on all 34 counts. Astrology students will appreciate that in the chart for the approximate time of the reading of the verdict, the Midheaven was conjunct the now-convicted felon’s natal Pluto, which sits in his natal 12th house — of imprisonment and self-undoing. The next aspect involving the Moon in this chart is a conjunction with Saturn. That’s heavy.
Astrology is amazing. Years ago we could look ahead to this span of days (May 30 – June 3) and appreciate how disruptive it was likely to be for the convicted felon’s professional status and reputation. We didn’t know what events (e.g., criminal trials) he would have on his calendar, as they had not yet been scheduled. But here we are, watching these patterns translate into very real events in his life:
A pause, whilst I marvel that 12 ordinary Americans had the courage to do what the US Senate did not.
This guilty verdict — on charges of falsifying business records in order to influence (a.k.a. cheat in) a federal election — isn’t the only disruptive piece of information and communication affecting the newly-convicted felon’s status. As noted in an earlier post, with Jupiter (expansion & reward) now in Gemini (talk talk talk), we anticipate a possible break-up of the holding pattern preferred by Jupiter in Taurus (stubborn as a rock). Jupiter will trine Pluto over the weekend, and Pluto refers to power, resources, corruption exposed, and confronting the shadow within.
Meanwhile…
Speaking of disruptive information (Mercury conjunct Uranus) that involves the Powers That Be (Jupiter trines Pluto this weekend):
Add Neptune (toxins, oil, plastic, deception, gaslighting) at the verrrry end of Pisces, and we have this investigative report from Pro Publica:
In other news…
Avid Readers know that obituaries reflect planetary patterns. Last week, as Venus (sugar, food) met up with Jupiter (big!) at the verrry end of Taurus (food), writer/director Morgan Spurlock passed away at 53. Spurlock was best known for “Super Size Me,” a documentary about his daring experiment (his nutritionist girlfriend called it reckless) to eat three meals a day for 30 days at McDonald’s. Born on November 17, 1970, Spurlock’s horoscope has an exact Mars-Uranus conjunction (potential for reckless action), as well as Sun-Venus-Jupiter conjunct in Scorpio.
The Venus-Jupiter conjunction activated the horoscope of Tucker Carlson last week as it met up with his 25 Taurus Sun and 28 Taurus Moon. We expected reward and expansion, and Carlson got it, as Heather Cox Richardson reported:
As Uranus moves on to conjoin his Sun and graze his Moon this summer, we can expect a push for independence and/or disruption, and this continues into 2025. Transiting Pluto just squared Carlson’s Saturn for the second of several passes, and it’s interesting that — as with the first pass — there is news involving his relationship with Russia. On the first pass, he was interviewing Vladimir Putin.
Meanwhile…
Perhaps you have heard of the “planetary parade” that some in the mainstream media are gushing over? If you wake up early on MONDAY and look east, you may see Mars and Saturn. Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Uranus will be tough to spot. Kudos to AP for not being one of the gushers as it reports that:
Here is the forecast for Monday. Please refer to the last forecast for a look at what’s happening over the weekend.
I leave you with these tidbits:
ICYMI, here is Beth Owlsdaughter’s always-in-sync Tarot Card of the Week, posted on Monday.
Randy Rainbow is baaaaack — with more song parodies! He’s released TWO over the past several days — how apt for all of these planets in Gemini, sign of the Twins. His latest takes on Marjorie Taylor Greene, whose horoscope is discussed here. Greene’s disruptive t-square among Venus in Aries, Mars in Libra and Uranus in Capricorn is being provoked by transiting Mars over the next several days, mirroring patterns in life of her favorite convicted felon. By the end of the month, Jupiter will meet up with her Gemini Sun, expanding her presence in the world.
Randy Rainbow’s MTG skewering has a sponsor — and it’s an apt one for Jupiter’s recent ingress into Gemini. The sponsor is Ground News, which purports to:
It does this by presenting headlines from publications that skew left, right and center, so you can appreciate how different biases cover the same story — or if they cover it at all. Jupiter (expansion; media) in Gemini (two sides — or multiple sides, all at the same time). Do you think the founders of Ground News worked with an astrologer when electing their launch date?
Here’s the 411 on personal consultations, in the event you are wondering what these planetary patterns suggest for YOU. Astrologers are like dentists, doncha know. It’s good to check in with us every six months to a year.
Thank you for the likes and comments posted in this new Substack forum — and thank you for sharing this forecast with your friends. I am still working on setting things up in Substack (and completing the transition from Mailchimp, etc.), which includes turning on the switch to accept funds from Avid Readers who find my insights worthwhile. But I will be doing that in the not-too-distant future. Meanwhile, I deeply appreciate Avid Readers who have already pledged support — without my even asking. Thank you so much for your appreciation.
Monday 5/27/2024: Sneak Peek at a Short Work Week
/in The ForecastGood morning from San Francisco on this Memorial Day holiday weekend.
Highlights for this short work week are:
So...Mercury is our star player. In the language of astrology, Mercury refers to how we need to think and communicate. It refers to information and transportation.
It goes like this:
Today is also my last full day of play in San Francisco, and my wonderful hosts have organized a trek to Sausalito and the Muir Woods. Thus, the news will be covered in the next forecast (later this week), along with more on what we can expect with Jupiter (big) now in Gemini (news, words). Here’s one article that popped up last week — so on point:
Oh — and look at this banner ad that now on my gmail account:

Monday 5/20/2024: Sneak Peek at the Week; A Gemini Double Feature
/in The ForecastAlllrighty then!
It’s still Monday, and at 8:59 AM ET, the Sun left Taurus and entered Gemini. sign of the Twins. So let’s send out TWO forecasts today, shall we? Here we go! I’m still using Mailchimp while I get the hang of using Substack, and I appreciate the encouragement received so far for the planned permanent change.
If you are receiving this forecast by email, there’s nothing you need to do. I imported my email list to Substack. I hope this is clear.
Highlights this week:
Venus, Jupiter and Neptune are the star players, as the first two wrap up their stay in comfort-seeking Taurus, channeling as much vision/ideals from Neptune as possible. One shift we may notice right away as they enter Gemini is an uptick in people who are suddenly ready to talk. Also, things that may have been stuck, may suddenly move.
It goes like this:
Here is the chart for the Full Moon, set in Washington, D.C.:
Observations:
Meanwhile…
…and FWIW, here are headlines from the week of the Jupiter-Neptune conjunction. Let’s see if any of them advance to a new stage of development soon.
Here is Beth Owlsdaughter’s always-in-sync Tarot Card of the Week. Last week’s card was The Hermit, FYI.
And now, the news.
This seems like an apt obituary for Venus and Jupiter at the verrrrrry end of Taurus:
“Ivan Boesky, inspiration for ‘Wall Street‘ villain Gordon Gekko, dead at 87.” Fictional character Gekko famously said, “Greed is good.”
On Wednesday, the First Quarter Moon was expected to be challenging for many U.S. politicians who have planets around 27 Aquarius, Taurus, Scorpio and Leo, including TFG and President Biden.
Last Thursday, the Sun (leaders) was conjunct Algol and Jupiter; Mars was running wild in Aries; Mercury was squaring Pluto. That’s a recipe for leaders losing their heads against a backdrop of ruthless and extreme communication. Moon was running wild in Virgo, trying to make things right.
During the day, ten MAGA congresspersons mostly wearing blue suits, white shirts, and red ties traveled from DC — presumably at taxpayers’ expense — and held a press conference outside a Manhattan courthouse. There, they said things their cult leader can’t because he’s under a gag order, and Heather Cox Richardson has the details.
That evening, the House Oversight Committee experienced an Aries-driven outburst, involving Marjorie Taylor Greene (Venus in Aries square Uranus), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (Moon in Aries) and Jasmine Crockett (Sun-Venus-Mars in Aries, opposing Jupiter-Saturn in Libra, all impacted by the March 25 lunar eclipse….and I told Avid Readers months ago to keep an eye on Crockett). Watching the video, I can’t tell who told Crockett to “calm down,” but this is never a good thing to tell an Aries. Just don’t do it.
Elsewhere…
With Venus and Jupiter together in Taurus, a focus on food — especially sugar — is timely. Thanks to the Guardian for these PSAs:
Finally…
…because we always aim to end on an uplifting note…
…did you see the clip of Heart performing Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven at the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors? Heart is on tour, so any excuse to generate publicity makes sense, but gosh, what an apt reflection of the weekend’s planetary patterns (Sun conjunct Jupiter in Taurus sextile Neptune (music and mysticism); Venus conjunct Uranus in Taurus). This clip was all over Twitter, and Greg Olear wrote about it in his Sunday Substack post (this is where you’ll find the clip), which you simply must read for many reasons, not the least of which is his argument that the lyrics of Stairway to Heaven could correspond to a Tarot card reading. Paging Beth Owlsdaughter — what do you think?

Monday 5/20/2024: Catching Up on the News; Mind the Moon Void
/in The ForecastIt’s Monday, and the Libra Moon has been void since 11:48 AM ET on Sunday, about when I started writing this forecast. Moon in Libra needs to be appreciated for being fair, attractive, and people-pleasing, and this need could be running wild — at least until 6:34 PM ET, when Moon enters Scorpio. Depth and substance are what Moon in Scorpio seeks, all the better for maintaining power and control. We may have a power play or catharsis around 10:33 PM ET, as Moon squares Pluto.
In honor of the Moon void, during which we have a higher probability of flakes and twists, this week’s forecast is being sent in at least two parts — a twist! — and here’s why.
On Saturday I finally posted a forecast on Substack — which is something I’ve wanted to do since forever. I’m excited about creating a forum where Avid Readers may contribute to an intelligent discourse on the astro-logic of These Interesting Times. My Substack page — a.k.a. “Why Now News” (unless I think of something I like better) — is still a work in progress, which is why you received this email via Mailchimp. But soon I will be delivering the astonishing synchronicity of planetary patterns and the news via Substack. If you received this forecast via email, there’s nothing you need to do. If you don’t receive this forecast via email, please find me on Substack.
Happily, these changes reflect the astro-logic of your intrepid reporter having Mercury, Ascendant, and Midheaven eclipsed in March and April, with those eclipse placements activated this month by transiting Mars. Astrology is amazing.
On Sunday (yesterday) I started writing this…
Astrology batted 1.000 this week. It always does, but my notebook seems especially crammed with stories reflecting these intense planetary patterns:
Here are the stories:
Back to the world of leaders…art…and disruption, for better or worse:
I wish I had known more about how astrology is reflected in art when I was in college. The papers I wrote for art history classes would have been even more provocative (and insightful).
Another story of unconventional art and women (Venus conjunct Uranus in Taurus). We could add the empowered potential suggested by last week’s square between Mercury (words) and Pluto (empowerment; relentless):
Speaking of Mercury square Pluto, last week we anticipated it would reflect “news from underground,” with investigative reporters having a field day:
“From denial to admission: How a (2016) surveillance tape held Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs accountable” (for savagely assaulting his girlfriend). Alas, it seems the statute of limitations apparently prevents criminal charges from being filed.
“Justice Alito’s home flew flag upside down after Trump’s election fraud claims, report says”. This happened in mid-January 2021, after the January 6 attempted coup, and when “the court was still considering whether to take up cases over the 2020 election.” Judges are supposed to be impartial; the display of this flag would be a clear indication that Alito is not, and thus should recuse himself from certain cases. Instead, he dug in his heels and blamed his wife. Take a look at Alito’s horoscope (which has been covered many times in the past 10 years). Note his Venus-Jupiter conjunction in Aquarius, squared last week by transiting Sun and Jupiter on Algol. His 1 Capricorn Ascendant is on the Aries Point, squared by natal Mars and opposed by natal Uranus — his daring, possibly reckless assertions can’t help but grab our attention. Transiting Saturn just made the first of three uncomfortable oppositions to his natal Saturn-Moon conjunction in perfection-seeking Virgo. Moon rules his 7th house of partnerships; no wonder he blamed his wife. Transiting Mars just met up with his Aries Sun and will connect with his Mercury momentarily; this suggests provocative thoughts and communication. Significant placements in his horoscope will be affected by multiple eclipses over the next 18 months, suggesting that it is one to watch.
In other news…
Speaking of Giuliani…the man who was virtually caught with his pants down in Borat: Subsequent Movie Film :
More disruptions among leaders…
Taurus refers to bulls and cows –– and maybe bison, too.
I will have more news to share in the next forecast, which will include the usual Sneak Peek at the Week and insights on Thursday’s Full Moon.
Until then, I leave you with a clip from SNL’s Weekend Update, i.e., the customary joke swap anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che do in the final episode of each season. Here we have the surprise factor of Venus-Uranus in Taurus, as neither have seen the jokes the other has written for them to read on live TV. Representing the Sun’s lovely sextile to Neptune (matters of spirit and leaders), a woman rabbi listens in.
Here’s 411 on personal consultations.
Thank you for supporting this forecast — and sharing it with your friends.
It was a delight to see this photo of Leonora Carrington (on the right) in a spontaneous (Venus-Uranus conjunct in Taurus) visit to NYC’s Met museum on Friday night. Carrington has four planets in Aries, with Neptune opposed by transiting Pluto this week. Translation: empowered vision = big sale.
