I am a reporter with a unique beat. I use my understanding of planetary cycles to provide advance notice and analysis on the Zeitgeist of the day. If you have ever wondered “why is this happening now,” my insights will transform your experience of the headlines, adding new meaning and understanding. Call it Astrology for News Junkies. If you’re curious to know why the Impossible Burger is trending…or why the outcome of the 2019 Israeli elections was likely to be a shocker …or why “Woodrow Wilson, Stud Muffin” was a New York Times headline in December 2013, you will find it here, in over a decade’s worth of historical research and reporting.
Note that I do use astrological jargon in The Forecast in my effort to show how the planetary patterns are reflected in mundane events. I explain what the jargon symbolizes, so that all who want to understand the connections between astrology and the news may do so. However, I do not use astrological jargon in personal consultations, just plain English.

Monday 5/13/2024: Sneak Peek at the Week, Sponsored by Taurus, Electrified
/in The ForecastAllrighty then!
This entire week is sponsored mainly by planets in Taurus, the sign that needs needs needs to maintain the status quo and build material comfort and security. Other planets in Taurus — hello, chaos agent Uranus –may have Other Plans.
Highlights this week:
It’s worth noting that Mars — the energy of action, assertion, and aggression — is running wild all week. It’s quite strong in Aries, the sign it rules, but it’s not connected to any other planet. Ergo, it may be challenged to get support for its crusades…and perhaps the lack of connection will make itself known in a 100% Aries –i.e, my way or the highway; let’s get this party started — modus operandi. Watch the headlines.
It goes like this — and Monday is a recap of what I sent over the weekend:
And now, the news.
As anticipated in the weekend forecast, Kamala Harris did make news with transiting Mercury conjunct her impulsive Aries Moon and opposing her Libra Sun.
In general, we could file the above story in the folder labeled “Sun conjunct Uranus” (disruptive leaders) + Venus sextile Saturn (women mean business). Also in that folder:
Melinda French Gates to resign from Gates Foundation, will pursue own philanthropy with $12.5 billion grant
Told ya on Saturday that this should be a big week for President Biden, challenging as it may be to find stories about him among all the tawdry dreck of the man who lauded the life of Hannibal Lecter (a fictional serial-killer/cannibal) at his last rally and confused Jimmy Carter with Jimmy Connors.
UPDATE: it’s been ages since we last looked at what we know of TFG’s former fixer Michael Cohen, who is telling the world what he knows about the crimes his former boss is on trial for…at least this week, in New York. Cohen’s horoscope suggests extremes of power and control, with a possible anguished effort. It looks expansive for him around June 5th…so…we’ll see how rewarded he is feeling then.
Meanwhile…
Barron Trump turned 18 in March, and that means he’ll be able to vote, which makes him an adult. Here is his horoscope. Sun is at 29 Pisces — at the Aries Point, so we see how he is born to attract attention. Transiting Neptune is on his Sun for the rest of the year and into 2025 — this could be a bewildering time. Barron has a Pisces Ascendant, and Saturn will make three passes over it (one has just happened), suggesting isolation — on the one hand — or maybe a more clearly-defined sense of self (countering the confusion potential of Neptune on the Sun). Mercury and Uranus are on the Ascendant; we see how he is likely to stand out from the rest of the pack. His Moon is in Sagittarius — like his father’s, and so we see how he needs to be respected for his righteous opinions.
Barron made news over the weekend when he was invited to be a delegate to the Republican Convention in July. He would have been the youngest delegate, but his mother issued a statement declining the honor, because of “prior commitments.”
In other news…
Vladimir Putin’s horoscope (the one many astrologers use; we don’t have an AA-rated birth time) continues to function as anticipated, i.e., realizing potential for expansion and disruption, as Jupiter and Uranus make contact with planets and angles. He was just sworn in for a fifth term, and he’s shaking up his cabinet.
Finally, in historian Heather Cox Richardson’s latest column, she notes how much time she devotes to explaining how power and resources shifted between 1933 and 1981. There’s an astrological correlation, as many Avid Readers will recall, because around 1933 was when the US horoscope experienced transiting Pluto opposing its natal Pluto…and around 1981 was when the US horoscope began to experience transiting Pluto square Pluto. In 2022, and briefly in the fall of 2023, the US experienced its Pluto Return (Pluto conjunct Pluto). So we see how these hard aspects to the US natal Pluto by transiting Pluto “coincide” with the transfer of power and resources from one faction to another. Clear?
HCR goes on to address (without the astro-logic, obviously), the myth of the American cowboy, which I’ve noted over and over in prior columns that this idealization of this macho, self-reliant, hero is a reflection of two patterns in the U.S. horoscope. One is the Mars (hero) – Neptune (idealization) square; the other is the Sun (ego identity) – Saturn (isolated) square. With transiting Neptune now at the end of Pisces, it is within orb of the US Neptune at 1 Libra, so it makes sense that we look at some of our ideals at this time.

Saturday 5/11/2024: News and More News; Look Up!!
/in The ForecastTime to check in on the astonishing synchronicity of planetary patterns and the news.
But first, a reminder of patterns driving the action this weekend:
And now, the news.
Here’s a shocking headline that incorporates the “women mean business” potential of Monday’s Venus-Saturn sextile, against the backdrop of Neptune (scandal, film, intangibles, impressions, chemicals, oil, oceans, fish, etc. ) at the end of Pisces, attracting prominence:
UPDATE: on Ted Cruz, who can be counted on to make news whenever a planet activates the Aries Point, as Neptune is doing now — and as Mars did when it entered Aries at the end of April. But ermagawd, what a shock (surprise!) to see that the softening potential of Neptune as it connects with Cruz’s Sun-Pluto square has somehow brought out the highest potential of a diplomacy-seeking Libra Moon. “Senator Ted Cruz shifts from obstructionist to bipartisanship,” rallying support for a bill he’d co-written to govern the (hello, Sun conjunct Uranus), Federal Aviation Administration.
Speaking of Neptune at the Aries Point, just about every story on the World section of the The Guardian’s home page reflects the potential for prominent stories of refugees and other displaced persons. Neptune refers to refugees, victims, and the dissolving of boundaries.
Countering the potential hopelessness of Neptune at the end of Pisces (i.e., the feeling that it’s the end of the world), note that Saturn is past the halfway point of its journey through Pisces. Saturn in Pisces may prompt serious efforts to acknowledge the reality of suffering and propose practical solutions. It may also place limits on how much empathy it’s possible to have for someone else’s pain.
Also Neptune — and as predicted: “U.S. will reclassify marijuana as less dangerous drug”
How cool is it that the Sun is making big news as the Sun-Uranus conjunction approaches! Have you looked up at the night sky lately?
Meanwhile…
Elsewhere…
It was another big week for the former guy, who still keeps falling asleep whilst on trial for some of the 88 felony counts alleged against him. Stormy Daniels took the witness stand on Tuesday, and here is Stephen Colbert to share some of her testimony. Daniels has Mercury in Aries, suggesting a need for fast-paced thought patterns, so her rapid-fire speech wasn’t a surprise. Tuesday was the day that transiting Mars activated the eclipse that impacted TFG’s Neptune, and by the end of the day, Judge Aileen Cannon announced that the May 20 start date for the federal trial involving all the stolen classified documents that were found in TFG’s chandeliered guest bathroom would be vacated. Poof. Dissolved. Disappeared…suddenly…just like that…and just like a Neptune vanishing act.
But wait — there’s more. Some Avid Readers who ordered eclipse insights for the March and April eclipses were advised:
Look what ProPublica published today — just before two other provocative patterns will be exact in TFG’s horoscope tomorrow.
TFG’s eclipsed Jupiter — his never-ending supply of good fortune — will be activated by Mars on May 25th…with a potentially disruptive change of status due on — or just before — June 3, when Uranus hits his Midheaven (career/public status) and Mars hits Venus, ruler of his Midheaven. Pass the popcorn.
Meanwhile, if you watched the Stephen Colbert monologue linked above, you heard about the worm that ate part of RFK Jr.’s brain. Should we be concerned that RFK Jr. sees himself as fit to serve as Commander-in-Chief? That’s pretty surreal, but I suspect we haven’t reached the limit on surreal stories of 2024 just yet. Shout-out to WaPo’s funny op-ed writer Alexandra Petri for bringing us the story from the worm’s point of view.
I really wanted to include headlines about President Biden, as a balance to all the stories about that loser who told the CEOs of oil companies that if they gave him a billion dollars, he’d give them the planet (by trashing environmental regulations). The CEOs are reportedly already drafting executive orders for him to sign. Guess what? Those headlines are really hard to find in mainstream papers — imagine that. So here is Heather Cox Richardson to keep you informed. It should be an expansive week for Biden, as transiting Jupiter opposes his Sun and Venus.

Monday 5/6/2024: Sneak Peek at the Week; New Moon in Taurus
/in The ForecastAllllrighty then!
It’s a new week, with a New Moon, backed by patterns of constructive support. Highlights are:
The buzz building over the weekend reflects the Sun’s annual meet-up with rebel Uranus next Monday.
It goes like this:
Here is the chart for the New Moon, set in Washington, DC:

And here is Beth Owl’s Daughter’s always-in-sync Tarot Card of the Week.
And now, a wee bit of news…
These two reflect the potentially innovative approach to housing we might see in the wake of the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Taurus:
Everywhere I look, I see Neptune at the verrry end of Pisces…
Take Neptune in Pisces’ shimmery sparkles and mix it with tonight’s Moon, Venus, Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus. It all adds up to this year’s Met Gala, with its “Garden of Time” theme. Just look at those dresses…
…and the news will continue later this week, as right now, in this moment in time, I’m feeling like Beth Owl’s Card of the Week — and pausing for station identification.

Monday 4/29/2024: Sneak Peek at the Week; Steppin’ Out with Venus & Mars; Pluto Goes Retrograde
/in The ForecastAlllrighty then!
Venus, Mars, and Pluto demand our attention this week, as the former two move into signs they rule. How nice to have planets representing Yin and Yang functioning at their best. Meanwhile, Pluto is slowing to a virtual standstill and is about to turn retrograde, as in:
…and it goes like this:
Here is Beth Owl’s Daughter’s always-in-sync Tarot Card of the Week.
And now, the news…
Oh, lordy, this has to be my favorite synchronous story of the day, posted at 9:30 AM ET. Mars at the end of Pisces — steaming mad, demanding attention, and coupled with Neptune, perhaps bewilderingly so…or possibly seeking forgiveness…via…sweet sweet food, the best a Venus in Taurus can do, pushed to extremes by its square to Pluto:
Also…
Mars conjunct Neptune suggests prominence in matters of charismatic, scandalous firepower:
Guess who has Moon and North Node at 28 degrees of boundary-pushing Sagittarius, which is receiving the square from the Mars-Neptune conjunction? Oh, and their Venus at 19 Aries was just eclipsed?
P.S. Former AG Bill Barr’s Venus is also at 19 Aries. He just made new for this brazen statement of values, and we’ll just see where he’s at around May 25th.
Mars-Neptune conjunctions suggest spiritual warfare:
Mars conjunct Neptune may reflect the ghoulish and the surreal:

File this under Pluto stationing retrograde in Aquarius, and remember I said Robert Oppenheimer’s horoscope is affected — doesn’t matter that he’s dead:
In other news, Saturn is now halfway through its trek in Pisces, and Avid Readers will recall that once a planet gets to the halfway point, it seems to coincide with a realization of the potential in that sign. Here’s an excerpt of what was posted on March 7, 2023, when Saturn entered Pisces.
Last week, as historian Heather Cox Richardson reports,
In that same HCR post above, you’ll find two other stories reflecting current planetary patterns in general (e.g., Pluto in Aquarius’ potential for the empowerment of “the people”), as well as the anticipated aftermath of the U.S. Pluto return, which clearly suggested a reversal of economic policies that kicked in around 1982-1983, when transiting Pluto squared the U.S. Pluto. The two stories involve the banning of non-compete clauses by the FTC, and securing overtime pay for salaried workers who make less than $59K/year.
Finally, the man who will never be king was still in court last week, with David Pecker – a name that is arguably another apt reflection of the Mars-Neptune conjunction — on the stand. We all got a good look at the scandalous, duplicitous, and salacious world of tabloids like the National Enquirer, and this is what we learned from Pecker’s testimony. My favorite moment was on Tuesday, April 23, when the Moon was void — before Pecker began testifying. This was the forecast, starting on Monday at 7:24 PM ET…continuing into Tuesday morning:
Here’s how that played out in court. Merchan is the judge. Tyler McBrien is a journalist and Managing Editor at Lawfare:

Monday 4/22/2024: Sneak Peek at the Week; Full Moon in Scorpio; Mars-Neptune Alert
/in The ForecastAlllrighty then!
After weeks of intense planetary activity, we have a fairly rare week of no exact aspects among the planets, except to the Moon. Look to the Moon to drive the action all week — and let the chips fall where they may. Experience has shown that these weeks of no exact contact (except to the Moon) can reflect events as sudden and impactful as a ginormous shelf of ice crumbling into the sea.
Highlights this week:
It goes like this:
Here is the chart for the Full Moon in Scorpio, set in Washington, DC:
Observations:
Back to the forecast:
Here is Beth Owl’s Daughter’s always-in-sync Tarot Card of the Week. I was hoping it would have special gravitas (reflecting the patterns in Tuesday’s Full Moon), and it does.
And now, the news.
Predictions were made about the Big Fat Jupiter-Uranus Conjunction in Taurus, with action potential added by its sextile to Mars, not to mention the empowerment/power play potential among leaders and energy resources suggested by the Sun-Pluto square.
Fun fact: the last time Jupiter and Uranus met up in Taurus was in May of 1941. In March 1941, Jupiter and Saturn met up in Taurus, and the technical term for that is “Great Conjunction.” Anytime Jupiter and Saturn conjoin (which they do about every 20 years), represents a new economic cycle. So…what happened back then? For one, on March 11, 1941, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt signed into law the Lend-Lease Act, which “envisioned the U.S….as the “arsenal of democracy,” using its industrial and agricultural might to aid nations that stood against brutal Nazi aggression.”
Meanwhile, here’s another person whose horoscope is affected by the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction. Doesn’t matter that he’s dead. The horoscope lives forever!
Don’t let this ginormous Mercury retrograde snafu happen to you:
Finally, the former president who nods off in court whilst standing trial on criminal charges did have an especially combative past week, as patterns in his horoscope suggested. He had to sit and listen to prospective jurors say unflattering things to his face, and his allies at the Faux News revealed so many tidbits about one prospective juror that they asked to be excused from the case. Opening arguments were set to begin today (Monday), sometime after 9:30 AM ET. And as I was researching this forecast, I kept an eye on the ever-changing horoscope set in Manhattan. I noted that Mars would be on the Midheaven around 10:30 AM ET and thought that felt appropriate for an attack. Lo and behold, the prosecuting attorney began his statement at 10:28 AM ET — and you can read the transcript of everything that was said right here.
Here’s the 411 on personal consultations. Yes, I take horary questions, too — and I was delighted to hear from Avid Reader Barbara just moments ago that her missing wallet was found (as anticipated) near a piece of furniture that was upholstered (also anticipated). It went missing yesterday, but I didn’t think she’d find it until today. Astrology is amazing.
