I am a reporter with a unique beat. I use my understanding of planetary cycles to provide advance notice and analysis on the Zeitgeist of the day. If you have ever wondered “why is this happening now,” my insights will transform your experience of the headlines, adding new meaning and understanding. Call it Astrology for News Junkies. If you’re curious to know why the Impossible Burger is trending…or why the outcome of the 2019 Israeli elections was likely to be a shocker …or why “Woodrow Wilson, Stud Muffin” was a New York Times headline in December 2013, you will find it here, in over a decade’s worth of historical research and reporting.
Note that I do use astrological jargon in The Forecast in my effort to show how the planetary patterns are reflected in mundane events. I explain what the jargon symbolizes, so that all who want to understand the connections between astrology and the news may do so. However, I do not use astrological jargon in personal consultations, just plain English.

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 8/3/2012 and the Weekend: A Meditation on Pisces
/in The ForecastA slow start or twist in your usual routine for people on the East Coast — and across the Pond. Moon goes void-of-course at 3:24AM and enters Pisces at 9:58AM ET. In a perfect world, I’ll be able to sleep in late because the workers who have been doing construction work on my building at godforsaken early morning hours will have been abducted by space aliens. Hey, Moon is in Aquarius, sign of space aliens. It could happen ; )
This could be a dreamy Friday at the office, ruled by intangibles: music, spirit, escape, fantasy, illusion. The Pisces Moon hooks up with nebulous Neptune at 2:04PM ET — ’nuff said. Except that if you want to be perfectly clear, you may have to say it more than once, especially with Mercury (mind, communication, travel) still retrograde for the next five days. Other than that, go with the flow, as a dreamy fish is wont to do.
It occurred to me on Tuesday, when I was writing the forecast for the Full Moon in Aquarius — opposed by the Sun in Leo — that the problem of resolving the conflict of the Leo-Aquarius opposition is that neither sign is Pisces. You’ve got the push-pull between the personal needs of the individual (Leo) and the impersonal needs of the collective (Aquarius). It’s not until we get to Pisces, the last sign of the Zodiac, that we may begin to appreciate that the individual and the collective are one and the same; that the illusion that we are separated from one another is just that: an illusion. Pisces suggests that it really is “all for one and one for all”.
Imagine my surprise a few hours later, as I was reading yet another metaphysical book that had fallen into my lap — this one called Happier Than God by Neale Donald Walsch. At the end of Chapter 15, Walsch talks about his quest to find the answer to these questions: 1) What does it take to make life work? and 2) Why does my life have to be such a continuing struggle? Walsch credits a conversation with God with this answer:
The book then expounds on a simple, yet profound concept that “All Things are One Thing. There is only One Thing, and All Things are part of the One Thing That Is.” Walsch makes the case that when you can apply this concept in day-to-day living, you will have mastered the key to success. Sounds pretty Piscean to me.
There are no heavy planetary aspects over the next few days, which makes for another perfectly lovely weekend of potential optimism and good times. Moon goes void of course on Sunday at 1:56PM ET and enters feisty Aries at 4:59PM ET. No impulse shopping sprees during the Moon void, if you please — and note the potential for surprise upsets in sports matches is higher when the Moon is void.
Meanwhile, today you can wish US Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte a happy 28th birthday. Lochte’s horoscope caught my attention when his mother announced to the entire Free World that her son only had time for “one night stands.” I knew Lochte’s horoscope would reveal typical patterns consistent with a dominant maternal influence in the early home life, and sure enough, it does, starting with the lunar nodes completely unaspected, suggesting that “maternal influence” is out of control.
Tomorrow, you can wish Barack Obama a happy 51st birthday. His lunar nodes suggest a strong maternal influence, too.
Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 8/2/2012: Full Moon Fallout
/in The Forecast…with apologies for the delayed forecast, which is: process whatever illumination hit you during the past 24 hours and enjoy the continued buzz of the fallout from the electric Full Moon in Aquarius. Said buzz is buoyed by the optimistic and expansive connection between Jupiter in “information junkie” Gemini and the Sun in creative, playful, recognition-seeking Leo. What big ideas have you been expounding on lately?
In other news, a reader wanted to know why I neglected to mention India’s stupendous power outage that left 600 million people in the dark. To which I responded that the power outage was mentioned in yesterday’s link highlighting the words “breakdowns of infrastructure“. Mercury retrograde making headlines? Yes…and much more.
Traffic snarls and mechanical failures (especially if they are related to frazzled circuits) are typical reflections of Mercury (mind, communication, travel) retrograde. India’s system crash appears to have been caused by a crisis of resources. Specifically, parts of the country were demanding — and taking — more power than others. And corruption in the infrstructure was allowing those parts to get away with it. Unfortunately, the demand was not sustainable and the infrastructure crashed. Crises in infrastructure are what we can expect again and again during the next few years of rebel Uranus in Aries challenging Pluto in Capricorn. And a quick glance at the chart for India’s creation of a republic on January 26, 1950 at 10:15AM in Delhi shows Mars, North Node, Ascendant and Midheaven all under pressure to change by Uranus and Pluto.
Meanwhile, a technical glitch apparently did cause the havoc wreaked in the markets yesterday, to the tune of $440 million dollars in losses — that’s $10 million a minute in losses for this hapless trading firm.
Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 8/1/2012: Full Moon in Aquarius
/in The ForecastMoon enters Aquarius at 5:56AM ET, waxing to its fullness at 11:27PM ET. Aquarius often gets grief for being such a scientist about emotions. Whether it’s a howl of indignation or a sigh of rapture, these cats can’t help but examine it under a microscope. Still, a Full Moon is a Full Moon, so feelings are more likely to run high, and by the time they peak later tonight, we may have seen the light about whatever agenda was set by the New Moon. Anyone remember what it was? Something to do with “catharsis”…
With the Moon in Aquarius, the spirit of brotherly love is opposed by the Sun in Leo, which has a more personal, passionate, egocentric game plan. How will these conflicting drives be illuminated and reconciled? There may be plenty of optimistic ideas to share, but will we appreciate that what others think might be worth entertaining? Can we arrive at a collective vision? Why not take the next few days with the Moon in “networking-heaven” Aquarius to reconnect. Make it a valuable two-way exchange of information.
For some of us, this might include networking with spirit guides and/or your Higher Self. After all, nebulous Neptune (spirit, vision) is still running wild. And with Mercury retrograde, some may be on a retreat. OK, that works, too. The Sabian Symbols for 11 Leo-Aquarius are “children on a swing in a huge oak tree” and “man tete-a-tete with his inspiration”. Sabian Symbol guru Blain Bovee opines that these are comforting images of solid support and a heart-to-heart encounter that reinforces “a sturdy inner core”. A sturdy inner core is just what we need– now more than ever, as breakdowns of infrastructure continue to disrupt the status quo over the next three years.
And speaking of Neptune running wild, it appears that New York airports are replacing human customer service agents with computer-generated holograms. That’s right, these are NOT REAL, totally intangible, complete illusions — ruled by Neptune. In a horoscope, Neptune tends to dissolve what it touches. Often that suggests a bewilderment or insecurity about self-projection. Watch the eyes for heavy blinking. It’s darned distracting — with no solid inner core to be seen. My mentor, Noel Tyl, calls it “the Neptune eye-flutter”. I call it “the Neptune I-flutter” When you see it in a person, you are alerted to the probability that Neptune is a big deal in the horoscope. Heavy blinking can also be a sign that what is being said should not be believed.
Do you think a computer-generated hologram posing as a human customer service representative has a solid inner core? Watch the video in the above link — especially the eyes. Coincidence or conspiracy?
Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 7/31/2012: Up!
/in The ForecastMore of the same proactive, practical — yet innovative — energy carries over from yesterday. Re-read yesterday’s forecast for details. Make the most of it until 7:30PM ET, when Moon goes void of course until 5:56AM ET on Wednesday. Notable lunar aspects include a challenge to the Moon from aggressive Mars at 5:43AM ET. This could be reflected in wild dreams (if you are asleep), or heated expressions and /or confrontations (if you are awake). At 7:30PM ET, we’ll see an exact challenge between the ambitious Moon and restrictive Saturn that could either bring us down (because of someone’s wet blanket) or get us even more focused on what needs to be done next.
And now, a fun astro-tidbit on the chart for the Olympics opening ceremony. I didn’t write about it in last Friday’s forecast, but I did note a midpoint configuration between Sun, Neptune and Pluto that is often a strong suggestion of something “otherworldly”. Add that aspect to spacey Neptune running wild, and equally “out there” Uranus strongly connected. Could one possible manifestation be this footage of an alleged UFO hovering over the Olympic stadium? Cue “Twilight Zone” music now… or, if you prefer, “Planet Claire”…
In other news, just in time for the illumination suggested by this week’s Full Moon in Aquarius (which refers to astrology), I do have a few appointments available for consultations this Friday. Please contact me if you would like to book one.
Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 7/30/2012: Make It Happen!
/in The ForecastHappy Monday!
Why is it happy? Because here in the Western hemisphere, we’re starting the work week off with the Moon in proactive, take care of business Capricorn — and it is not void of course! This suggests that moving in a straight line, with purposeful direction won’t be nearly the challenge it felt like last week (from the feedback I’ve been hearing and seeing on so many Facebook posts). And you may be especially inspired, given that the practical Moon is in a supportive connection with visionary Neptune. Note your dreams upon waking.
Finding practical, stable value in monetary concerns, artistic expression and social graces will likely pull focus over the next few days, as realistic Saturn makes an easy connection to loving Venus, exact on Tuesday at 3:40AM ET. If not practical value in actual material form, then certainly practical value in significant ideas about them. I say this because Saturn and Venus are now both in Air signs, which are often more comfortable in the world of ideas. Adding innovation, technology and the avant-garde to the mix is another easy connection between the Sun (in dramatic Leo) and inventive Uranus (in pioneering Aries). What new firsts may we see in the headlines over the next few days?
As the day progresses, we’ve got the usual potential for shake-ups and power plays, courtesy of that “make-it-happen” Moon making contact with ruthless Pluto (at 4:03PM ET) and rebel Uranus (at 5:34PM ET). Breakthroughs and breakouts?
Meanwhile, was there any confusion in Friday’s in Friday’s Olympics opening ceremony (suggested by Mercury retrograde and a Moon void)? Here in the United States, plenty of viewers were confused because it was not carried live on NBC and I haven’t heard of anyone who could find it online. America had to wait until 8PM ET to see what the rest of the Free World apparently got to watch at 4PM ET (in their respective time zones). Still, as forecast on Thursday, the broadcast did break records on Friday. Huzzah!
Moon voids for the rest of the week:
Tuesday 7:30PM ET – Wednesday 5:56AM ET
Friday 3:24AM ET – 9:58AM ET
Make the most of this productive week. Since Mercury is retrograde, it’s a great time to get in touch with people you haven’t spoken with in a while. Happy networking and REconnecting!
