I am a reporter with a unique beat. I use my understanding of planetary cycles to provide advance notice and analysis on the Zeitgeist of the day. If you have ever wondered “why is this happening now,” my insights will transform your experience of the headlines, adding new meaning and understanding. Call it Astrology for News Junkies. If you’re curious to know why the Impossible Burger is trending…or why the outcome of the 2019 Israeli elections was likely to be a shocker …or why “Woodrow Wilson, Stud Muffin” was a New York Times headline in December 2013, you will find it here, in over a decade’s worth of historical research and reporting.
Note that I do use astrological jargon in The Forecast in my effort to show how the planetary patterns are reflected in mundane events. I explain what the jargon symbolizes, so that all who want to understand the connections between astrology and the news may do so. However, I do not use astrological jargon in personal consultations, just plain English.

Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 11/26/2013: Practical Magic
/in The ForecastA fine day for cooperative ventures and hammering out details, as the perfection-seeking Virgo Moon makes harmonious aspects to five planets — with four of those connections happening between 3PM and 10PM ET. That’s plenty of energy to get things off your desk before the Moon goes void at 6:44AM ET on Wednesday…not to enter Libra for ten hours. Really, Wednesday is likely to be a bust, though it may start off on an especially assertive note, given that the Moon will hook-up with action hero Mars before it goes void. Keep that in mind if you’ll be traveling on that day; tempers may flare for many who will find fault.
That being said, this whole week bodes well for thinking, writing & other communication-oriented types, as mental Mercury makes easy aspects to four planets between 9PM ET Monday and 3AM on Thursday. After yesterday’s serious focus, idealism and optimism kick in, along with an indulgent and perhaps expensive face-off between loving Venus and expansive Jupiter that will be exact early Thanksgiving morning. You’ll have plenty of chances to count your blessings…
Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 11/25/2013: A Rosy Sun-Neptune Square; Sneak Peek at the Week
/in The ForecastGood Morning!
OK, show of hands to these questions: how many of you experienced yesterday as a bit of a wandering, dreamy detour? Any unusual twists in your everyday routine? Have any trouble getting motivated to plunge into a planned project? Did any of you suspect that the Moon might be void of course — i.e., drifting along without a clear sense of direction? That was my suspicion almost immediately upon waking. I’m often at the local greenmarket bright and early, but yesterday was not the case. And the usual greenmarket was anything but, given that a fierce wind had blown away most of the awnings covering the stalls. I couldn’t get the fennel seed-laced scone I’d been looking forward to having all week, as the scone lady was so frustrated by the destructive wind — and that it was 25 degrees outside — that she packed up all the scones and was leaving by the time I got there.
By then my suspicion was a conviction: the Moon had to be void — and when I finally got home after a afternoon of wandering nowhere, I checked the astro-logical calendar and confirmed that as of 3:59AM ET on Sunday until 7:11AM ET on Monday, the Moon is void in Leo. Best use of this energy (if you’re reading this before 7:11 AM) is to chill, play, shine — and help others shine, too. Any crises that crop up in this time period is likely much ado about nothing.
A sense of dreamy wandering was — and still is — amplified all the more by another pattern exact on Sunday: a challenge between the Sun in high-flying Sagittarius and nebulous Neptune in Pisces. When Neptune is prominent, rose-colored glasses are often appealing. So is music, art, healing, spirits of all kinds, visions, fantasy, glamor and peace. On the flip side: deception and bewilderment. You would feel this planetary pattern more personally if you were born a few days into Pisces, Gemini, Virgo or Sagittarius…or if you have a planet or angle around 2 degrees of any of those signs.
The rose-colored glow will likely still be present when you wake up on Monday. Although the Moon will be in earthy, discerning, perfection-seeking Virgo, it too, will be challenged by Neptune — at 12:21PM ET. At 2:28PM ET, we’ll have the 3rd Quarter Moon, suggesting a challenge or resolution regarding the New Moon agenda you set on November 3rd. That’s when some of the glow may fade, to be replaced by the serious thinking that a hook-up between mental Mercury and stern Saturn suggests, exact at 8:55PM ET.
Your Moon voids for the week: Wednesday: 6:44AM ET – 5:00PM ET; go with the flow if you’re traveling that day. Same goes for Friday: 6:14 AM ET – 11:03PM ET; now you have an astro-logical reason to skip those Black Friday sales, as the Moon void rules suggest you won’t get much use out of whatever you buy.
Meanwhile, I promised you a pile of dirt uncovered, courtesy of last week’s cooperative connection between mental Mercury and Pluto, Lord of the Underworld. So what happened? How about this story: “Two Surprises In DNA of Boy Found Buried in Siberia” (the boy in question is 24,000 years old). Shades of nebulous Neptune in that story, too. How so? Because Neptune works to dissolve whatever it touches, including ideas of separation. “We are all connected” is another way of expressing Neptune — through empathy, telepathy and understanding that we all come from the same Source.
On Friday, during a nostalgic, patriotic Moon in Cancer and healing, rose-colored potential of the approaching Sun-Neptune challenge, we were all connected by the 50th anniversary of the day President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. On Sunday, the empowered communication and synergy of last week was reflected in this story — also on a healing, we-are-all-connected theme: an accord that would “temporarily freeze much of Iran’s nuclear program”. Finally, speaking of nuclear, empowered communication and synergistic action, on Thursday, the Senate voted to change a key rule that will allow most executive and judicial nominees to be approved by a simple majority. Which means no more filibustering these nominations by members of an opposing party. Yes, I am bewildered by the use of the term “nuclear option” to describe this rule change, too. And as you might suspect, the minority party in the Senate did not like this rule change one bit, even though twelve members of this party expressed very different sentiments back in 2003 and 2005.
You can sort through a lot over the next two days, and Thanksgiving offers plenty of potential for expressing gratitude. Get out there and have a great day — and when you need some personal, astro-logical insights, here’s how to reach me.
Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 11/21/2013: Sun in Sagittarius
/in The ForecastHome and emotional security are still in focus, courtesy of the Cancer Moon. However, the mood is lighter than it was last night, as the jarring potential of the Moon’s contact with the Uranus-Pluto square is now behind us. Today we have an indulgent connection to the Moon from loving Venus around noon ET, followed by a stabilizing connection from disciplined Saturn. Seeking out advice today?
Meanwhile, the Sun leaves Scorpio for the adventurous and opinionated sign of Sagittarius at 10:48PM ET. Whereas Sun in Scorpio can keep much under wraps for the sake of control, Sun in Sagittarius is more inclined to let it all hang out, and never mind the mess. If you were a Centaur (half-human, half-horse), aiming at arrow at the sky, whilst galumphing across an open field, you’d trip over your four left hooves on occasion, too.
Still, there’s no reason you can’t celebrate the lightening up of planetary patterns, especially with an expansive, optimistic and possibly loony alignment between Moon and jolly Jupiter at 10:58PM ET. Get it off your desk today if you can; Moon goes void at 2:11AM on Friday…not to enter Leo until 6:56PM ET.
Meanwhile, I could hardly keep up with the revelations of today’s headlines, reflecting a most perspicacious connection between mental Mercury and ruthless Pluto. I will do my best to report them in the next forecast….
Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 11/20/2013: Deep Focus on Security Needs
/in The ForecastWith the Moon in Cancer, as of 6:23AM ET, the needs of the day shift to matters of emotional and home security. Which is good, because yesterday’s long Moon void break in entertainment-needing Gemini had me playing way too many games of mindless Facebook Scrabble.
Exact planetary patterns today include a dreamy connection between the Moon and nebulous Neptune, suggesting a tint of rose may be added to your emotional and home security needs. We also have an exact connection between mental Mercury and ruthless Pluto, suggesting continued support for whatever investigative, focused thinking you’ve been doing this week. And more dirt in the headlines. Here’s a front-page item reflecting mental focus and Cancer family tenacity: Michael Skakel, a man convicted in 2002 for a murder committed in 1975, may finally walk free, courtesy of a never-ending family campaign to clear his name. And here’s some dirt about how members of Congress are experiencing the Affordable Care Act compared to everyone else.
Patterns will intensify the closer we get to midnight, as the sensitive Cancer Moon will engage with the disruptive Uranus-Pluto square. Should be a busy day tomorrow. Ship it before Friday, if you can.
Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 11/19/2013: More Moon in Gemini Bzzzzz
/in The ForecastGet it off your desk before 11AM ET, if it’s a matter of considerable importance. There’s plenty of positive energy to fuel your efforts, courtesy of a supportive connection between action hero Mars and expansive Jupiter at 9:49AM ET. If there’s a caveat, it may involve a potential clash of wills involving an overload of information vs. a drive to make it all perfect, thanks to a challenge between Mars (action) the Moon in information junkie Gemini.
Release the tension with a sigh after 11AM ET, when the Moon goes void for the rest of the business day, not to enter the next sign until 6:23AM ET on Wednesday. Moon void or no, a cooperative connection between mental Mercury and potent Pluto suggests strong potential for research, drafting and other mindful focus — just go with the flow.
Meanwhile, let the record show that as predicted, George Zimmerman is once again in trouble with the law — arrested and charged with a felony. To be continued, no doubt…
