Saturday 8/17/2024: Walz-ing with Harris; A Whole Lotta News

Alllllllllrighty then!

Time to catch up on a truckload of news, in no particular order. Let’s start with a few headlines that aptly reflect the potential of last week’s key patterns, i.e., the romantic idealism of the Mercury-Venus meet-up in pristine Virgo and the cooperative flow of the rip roarin’ Leo Sun’s sextile to jovial Jupiter in chatterbox Gemini, both of which happened last Wednesday:

All through the week, I was happily humming “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile,” from Annie. And now, you can, too.

Happy warrior” is an apt reflection of the upside potential seen in the horoscopes of Harris and Walz, both of whom have significant placements in warrior Aries and pixie Gemini.

The weekend before Harris’ pick was announced, it was reported that it was likely going to be Governor Josh Shapiro (D-PA) or Governor Tim Walz (D-MN). Walz is a far better choice, imho, given what we know of the horoscopes involved. Born on June 20, 1973 in Kansas City, MO — time unknown — Shapiro is a Gemini, driven by Moon in Aquarius. His Gemini Sun is at the Aries Point — 29 Gemini and it is conjunct Saturn. The Sun and Saturn are in a t-square with a Mars-Pluto opposition in Pisces and Libra, respectively. This is a horoscope that can’t help but generate attention, and has the power to move mountain. But I was concerned about transiting Neptune sitting right on Shapiro’s 29 Pisces Mars, square his Sun. Seemed like a vulnerability to being misunderstood — or — even worse — to scandal.  Too risky for the mission at hand.  And guess what? Headlines about a 2023 sexual harassment settlement involving one of his former aides reappeared several days ago…and…I’m relieved he didn’t make the cut.

Here’s Tim Walz — April 6, 1964 in West Point, NE — birth time unknown.

I can’t believe I’ve been using Solar Fire for 20 years, and only discovered this chart design today. Woot!

Observations:

  • Walz is a pioneering Aries, driven by the Moon in either late Capricorn or early Aquarius.
  • His Aries Sun and Mars were eclipsed in March and April, so we can appreciate why he is in the spotlight now. The last time these planets were eclipsed was in March and April of 2005, when he entered politics, filing to run for Congress and retiring from his decades-long stint in the Minnesota National Guard.
  • His Saturn opposition to Uranus-Pluto forms a T-square with Venus in Gemini. Note that his Saturn sits on Kamala Harris’ Midheaven; there is an arguably karmic connection. Note also that when transiting Mars entered Gemini last month and connected with that T-square, he was credited for being the first to call MAGA Republicans and their ticket “weird.”
  • Walz’ Jupiter opposes Harris’ 27 Libra Sun and is conjunct her 27 Aries Moon. We see how he can be a cheerleader for his running mate.
  • Transiting Pluto has been squaring Walz’ Jupiter; transiting Jupiter was squaring his Pluto last month. These are patterns of potential empowerment.
  • His Mercury — how he needs to think — is in methodical, practical Taurus and trine to innovative, wise-crackin’ Uranus.
  • Like Harris, he’s recently completed his second Saturn return.  Both have proven their worth.

Speaking of horoscopes that were eclipsed in March and April…

…and because so many emailed to say how much they enjoyed reading about my personal long Moon void adventure...

…my Mercury was eclipsed in March; my IC was eclipsed in April. Mercury is connected to my 3rd, 6th and 9th houses, so I was alerted to the high probability of a surge of action in matters of communication, disease, publishing, and possibly foreign affairs. The eclipsed IC is the root of the horoscope, calling attention to family, heritage, and home ownership.

So, what has happened since?

  • When transiting Mars met up with Mercury, I severely sprained my hand (Mercury rules hands)!
  • I discovered all kinds of fun facts about the Italian side of my family — going back generations
  • I moved my forecast — with its new name of Why Now News — to Substack, and my audience is growing — yay!
  • The roof of my apartment building is finally being replaced…and my share of the $3 million cost was assessed at $11,700.
  • Astrology is amazing. Right?

The $11,700 assessment was the kick I needed to finally turn Avid Readers’ pledges of support into actual payments. THANK YOU to the 14 Avid Readers who are supporting Why Now News on Substack…and THANK YOU to the 30 Avid Readers who have been Faithful Monthly Supporters via my Cosmic Tip Jar on PayPal. Meanwhile…

Mars-Jupiter in Gemini (big data) square Saturn (blocks, downers, chillers), combined with Mercury Rx square Uranus (disruption of data) suggested stories of hacking in the headlines. Data — especially data transmitted via networks — is key to those who wish to rule in the wake of the December 2020 Great Conjunction of Jupiter-Saturn in Aquarius, currently being supercharged in the extreme by transiting Pluto at 0 Aquarius.  That link, ICYMI, is to an article I wrote about the Great Conjunction — a.k.a. The Great Mutation — for an astrological journal.

In other news…

UPDATE: on Nancy Pelosi. Her new book is aptly titled The Art of Power. It’s apt for her Scorpio Moon, and for her Saturn-Pluto square at 0 Taurus – 0 Leo, which is being supercharged in the extreme by transiting Pluto this year. That square will be activated three times by transiting Mars at 0 Leo, and those will happen on November 5-6, January 4 and April 19. For reference, transiting Mars left Aries for 0 Taurus on the evening of January 6, 2021, and here’s how she exerted power and control on that day.

UPDATE: on President Zelensky of Ukraine. Transiting Pluto is opposing his 0 Leo Mars, suggesting a dramatic application of action in the extreme. He will have exact hits on August 20 and December 1. Have you been following reports on Ukraine’s efforts against the Russian invaders?

UPDATE: on Alexei Navalny, who “died under mysterious circumstances” in a Russia prison on February 16. This item is bittersweet, because of what could have been. Like Evan Gershkovich, the Wall Street Journal reporter who was detained in Russia and tried on espionage charges, Navalny’s horoscope is receiving patterns suggesting an anguished effort. Unlike Gershkovich (as far as we know, as we don’t have a birth time for him), Navalny was also receiving the wipe-out potential of transiting Neptune. But on July 30, transiting Jupiter was conjunct Navalny’s Gemini Sun and opposing his Neptune — a pattern suggesting expansion and reward. I wouldn’t be surprised if Jupiter met up with Gershkovich’s Gemini Moon, too.  The next day, President Biden announced a prisoner exchange: Gershkovich, Paul Whelan, Vladimir Kara-Murza and others were released from Russian prisons, including several of Navalny’s associates. It was one of the largest prisoner exchanges ever. Navalny should have been with them.

UPDATE: on Matthew Perry, who also died under mysterious circumstances, as the chart for the 911 call placed on that date suggests. Neptune was on the Ascendant of that call chart (discussed in a prior forecast), suggesting drugs, victimization, and things not being what they seemed. At the time, it was reported that no sign of drug use was found by first responders. However, now that Perry’s Sun-Neptune square (in Leo-Scorpio) is activated by transiting Uranus, we see the potential for surprising — if not shocking — revelations. Today, five people — including a drug dealer and two doctors — were indicted on charges related to Perry’s death. Perry was addicted to ketamine.

UPDATE: on Kamala Harris. As mentioned in the last forecast, the Mars-Jupiter conjunction in Gemini, square to Saturn in Pisces and (exact on Monday) square to Venus in Virgo (it’s a t-square formation), connects with Harris’ Venus-Uranus-Pluto mash-up in Virgo, all of which oppose Chiron in Pisces. Translation: a ginormous rightness of purpose, in an effort to heal (via activated Chiron) and make things right (via activated planets in Virgo). Note that her Jupiter is in Taurus square to Saturn in Aquarius. Jupiter in Taurus suggests her need for reward involves basic material comfort and security. (With Jupiter in the 12th house  — of the self-undoing — it could also explain her coping strategy after the November 2016 election: a family-sized bag of nacho-flavored Doritos she refused to share — “not even with Doug!”) Meanwhile, with Saturn in Aquarius, she needs to help people. This week, Harris presented her economic plans: build affordable housing for people; push back against corporate landlord/profiteers; put affordable food on the table. Oh — and healthcare, too.

Yesterday, President Biden and VP Harris announced ginormous price cuts that will save billions for 65 million Medicare recipients. The price cuts are on the top ten drugs prescribed for Medicare patients, and this savings arrived two years after Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act — which not one single Republican voted for (but vowed to repeal), as historian Heather Cox Richardson explains.  Fifteen more drugs will be selected for negotiated lowered rates in February, if the Democrats prevail in November.

In other news…

…this Mars-Jupiter conjunction in Gemini hasn’t been quite as destructively explosive as I thought it might, and I’m thinking we need to consider the controls suggested by the Venus-Saturn opposition as it squares Mars and Jupiter. For example:

On the other hand, these stories involving Mars-Jupiter in Gemini themes (e.g., a war on words or war of words) could be considered “destructively explosive”…what do you think?

Forecast for the weekend and Monday

Lots of buzz through Monday.  Surprises — possibly seismic — are in store as Sun-Mercury squares Uranus on Sunday and Monday, followed by Monday’s Full Moon revelations that affect the Usual Suspects — anyone with placements at 27 degrees of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius. That includes the United States, President Biden and the OMG (Old Miserable Guy), and many more.   Moon goes void on Monday at 2:25 PM ET for four and a half hours. CHILL.

If you’re curious to know how these wild planetary patterns affect your unique horoscope, now is the time to schedule a personal consultation. Are you due for a promotion or a major move? Perhaps you’d like to improve a key relationship — e.g., with a partner, parent or child. Or maybe you just can’t find your keys, and want to ask a Burning Question about whether they can be found, and if so, when and where. Here’s the 411.

THANK YOU for reading, commenting on, sharing, restacking, liking and supporting Why Now News.
