I am a reporter with a unique beat. I use my understanding of planetary cycles to provide advance notice and analysis on the Zeitgeist of the day. If you have ever wondered “why is this happening now,” my insights will transform your experience of the headlines, adding new meaning and understanding. Call it Astrology for News Junkies. If you’re curious to know why the Impossible Burger is trending…or why the outcome of the 2019 Israeli elections was likely to be a shocker …or why “Woodrow Wilson, Stud Muffin” was a New York Times headline in December 2013, you will find it here, in over a decade’s worth of historical research and reporting.
Note that I do use astrological jargon in The Forecast in my effort to show how the planetary patterns are reflected in mundane events. I explain what the jargon symbolizes, so that all who want to understand the connections between astrology and the news may do so. However, I do not use astrological jargon in personal consultations, just plain English.
Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 10/27/2010
/in The ForecastIs Rand Paul determined to become the poster child for Venus retrograde in Scorpio 2010? First, Mr. Paul refuses to shake his opponent’s hand during a political debate several days ago, in a flagrant violation of social conventions we expect to happen in polite society. Then, as you may have heard, one of Mr. Paul’s campaign volunteers stomps on the head of a woman who was present outside another debate. Talk about bad manners! Granted, there are other tense planetary patterns contributing to the edginess many may be feeling, but throwing common courtesy under the bus is one common manifestation of Venus, planet of social expression, retrograde — and the fact that it’s happening in Scorpio, a sign that takes no prisoners, adds to the potential for nasty behavior. How are your social interactions going? We’ve got another 23 days of this — hang in there!
Angelenos, you’ll experience a void-of-course Moon from 7:19AM – 12:14PM. I’d love to hear how many of you may experience alarms not going off, a desire to sleep in late, a general slow start to the morning, including unusual traffic jams, meetings that get canceled, agendas that are not followed or clients calling with crises that turn out to be much ado about nothing. On the other hand meditation, routine activities, yoga and brainstorming can be productive — as is any activity where your intention does not involve moving in a straight line. Stay loose…and be ready to take action after lunch, when the Moon will be in Cancer, nudging us to tend to issues of home, foundations, family and emotional security. New Yorkers — please do the math for the Moon void an adjust your schedule accordingly. A long lunch hour sounds perfect, so long as it doesn’t involve impulse shopping (you really don’t need it) or a serious business conversation.
Oh — and about those emotional security needs — our feelings may be especially vulnerable to cutting words and other sharp objects, thanks to a challenge to Moon (emotional response) from ruthless Pluto.
Finally — for no particular reason I deleted a sentence from yesterday’s forecast about likely news from the underground (Sun in Scorpio making contact with Pluto, Lord of the Underworld, in earthy Capricorn); yesterday’s headlines did include a deadly volcano and a tsunami. Have a fabulous day!
Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 10/26/2010
/in The ForecastThis may be a day for personal obsessions…or obsessions that get very personal. That and an overload of information that can feel like a bottleneck of energy searching for a clear focus on doing something good. Moon is still in newsjunkie Gemini, tempting you to scatter your resources and multitask yourself into a caffeinated frenzy….but wait — before you throw yourself to the four winds, you could tune in and meditate on a supportive, communicative connection between Sun in Scorpio (life force) and Pluto in Capricorn — or just meditate. Take a break. Breathe. This can bring stability to your perspective, allowing you to see what is really important. THEN you will know what to do! Point is, if you are stuck or scattered — get out of your head and get down to Earth today. We need you present and accounted for
Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 10/25/2010
/in The ForecastDoes President Obama read this Astro-logical Forecast? On Thursday I wrote, “Friday we’ll have a Full Moon and nebulous Neptune challenging aggressive Mars. Be mindful of what you put in your system over the next couple of days as your sensitivity to toxins may be higher than usual. This includes people selling snake oil.” And wouldn’t you know it, on Friday, this item makes headlines: “President Barack Obama, fighting to keep Democrats in control of the U.S. Senate, accused Republicans on Friday of peddling discredited “snake oil ideas” about the U.S. economy.” http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSN2220863720101023
A quest for information is on deck for the next couple of days — as in “knowledge is power”. Watch the headlines for efforts to control the flow of information in an effort to wield power and influence — and yes, the planetary influences coinciding with this phenomena have been in effect for a couple of days — exact this AM at 9:17 NY time (Mercury conjunct Venus in substance-demanding Scorpio). This connection is often extremely idealistic — as in “rose-colored glasses” — so please do your due diligence regarding whatever news comes across your desk — it’s likely to be laced with seductive charm that may hide a subversive agenda. That being said, your own personal agenda could be pitched persuasively and successfully today — since whoever is on the receiving end of your pitch probably doesn’t read an astrology forecast, he or she might well accept it on face value. The buzz begins at 7:47AM NY time, with the Moon’s entry into clever, chatty Gemini.
Meanwhile — another follow up to Thursday’s forecast regarding the impact of Venus retrograde in Scorpio on the chart of Clarence Thomas — note that on Friday, a past love surfaces and confirms several allegations made by Anita Hill. Note that Venus turned retrograde EXACTLY on his Midheaven (this is the highest point in his chart — representing career, status — an extremely significant point). A skilled astrologer could have alerted Thomas to this time period — suggesting that his reputation might well be in the spotlight — and that a lover returning to ruthlessly rehash the past would be one possible manifestation.
Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 10/22/2010 and the Weekend
/in The ForecastAstro-logical Forecast for Friday 10/22/2010 and the Weekend
Glamorous, charismatic, sublime, surrender, fanatical, transcendental — or perhaps a weird combination of all the above. Whatever it is you’re dealing with today — in your life or in the news — it may not even feel real — but it can still be a delicious escape. It can also be a day of particularly powerful, incisive communication — as a result of intense investigation — we may see some strong personas making especially bold statements in an effort to inspire/influence — watch the headlines. You can also apply this depth of perception to projects of your own.
Moon is still in me-me-me Aries — waxing full at 9:37PM NY. You may recall last month’s Full Moon was also in Aries, a sign that needs to be Number One — and isn’t that an interesting counterpoint to the focus on relationships we’ve been working on all month? What do we really want in our relationships and what are we willing to give in order to get it? That’ll be an interesting question, given that less than an hour after waxing full, Moon moves into sensual, yet stubborn and possessive Taurus, where it usually aims to keep things as they are.
Saturday Sun leaves Libra for Scorpio, joining Mercury, Venus and Mars and increasing the demand for substance over theory in an effort to control. See if you notice the shift in intensity. Sunday’s notable aspect is an easy connection between Mars, planet of action and inventive Uranus, suggesting headlines about progress made in projects benefiting the common good, maybe with a creative dose of technology. Not the worst aspect to have on United Nations Day, eh?
Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 10/21/2010: Venus Rx in Scorpio; Ginni Thomas’ Phone Call
/in The ForecastOh, that bewildering Neptune. And that witchy bitchy Venus retrograde in Scorpio dredging up the dreck in relationships — past and present! How else to explain Mrs. Clarence Thomas’ (a.k.a. “Ginni”) phone call to Professor Anita Hill on Oct 9th asking her to apologize to her husband, the alleged sexual harasser and current Supreme Court Justice. Quick glance at Mrs. Thomas’s chart: immediately we see she may be prone to idealism (Sun in Pisces, ruled by Neptune, trine to Neptune), with likely obsessive tendencies resulting from stressful connections between aggressive Mars and delusional Neptune, and mental Mercury and ruthless Pluto (“sexuality, illusion, fantasy and deceit can be played out; may be driven to focus on the unknown, unconscious or subconscious; can be cunning persuasive and manipulative through use of communication and information”). Mrs. Thomas was driven (check her transits) to place a phone call to Professor Hill on a day marked by a stressful contact between Mercury (mind) and expansive Jupiter — “grandiose thinking; opinionation and bias; driven by belief systems, religious concepts, philosophical ideology; idealism” — and Venus (women) had just gone retrograde EXACTLY on her husband’s Midheaven, which represents his public career status! Yes, nebulous Neptune is currently “hot” in all three charts: the Thomases and Professor Hill — and in the case of Clarence Thomas, we see his Sun (life force), Venus (women, social expression) and Mercury (mind) all under pressure from the Big T-Square Party, especially ruthless Pluto. Fellow astrologers — birth data for all three posted below; we could talk for hours about these charts. Dear civilians, I’ll now move on to the moment you’ve been waiting for:
Moon is still in impulsive, start-it-yesterday Aries, inspiring you to push ahead. And push ahead you must, while the Moon is still waxing full. Note a possible clash between boundless enthusiasm and a lump of coal in the early part of the day — work through it, if you must. Note also that we are not out of the weirdness zone yet: Friday we’ll have a Full Moon and nebulous Neptune challenging aggressive Mars. Be mindful of what you put in your system over the next couple of days as your sensitivity to toxins may be higher than usual. This includes people selling snake oil. On the plus side — a charismatic performance might be within reach if it comes from an authentic source.
BIRTH DATA: Mrs. Clarence Thomas Feb 23, 1957, time unknown, likely Omaha, NE; Mr. Clarence Thomas Jun 23 1948, 9 PM Pin Point, GA; Professor Anita Hill Jul 30, 1956, time unknown, Tulsa, OK — acknowledging Ricki Reeves, author of THE QUINDECILE — all quotes above from her superb astrological text on a little-known, but extremely potent aspect.
