THE
I am a reporter with a unique beat. I use my understanding of planetary cycles to provide advance notice and analysis on the Zeitgeist of the day. If you have ever wondered “why is this happening now,” my insights will transform your experience of the headlines, adding new meaning and understanding. Call it Astrology for News Junkies. If you’re curious to know why the Impossible Burger is trending…or why the outcome of the 2019 Israeli elections was likely to be a shocker …or why “Woodrow Wilson, Stud Muffin” was a New York Times headline in December 2013, you will find it here, in over a decade’s worth of historical research and reporting.
Note that I do use astrological jargon in The Forecast in my effort to show how the planetary patterns are reflected in mundane events. I explain what the jargon symbolizes, so that all who want to understand the connections between astrology and the news may do so. However, I do not use astrological jargon in personal consultations, just plain English.
Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 2/21/2011
/in The ForecastThose of you taking this Presidents’ Day off, rejoice. You’ve managed to escape a Monday AM at the office that suggests a slightly rude awakening after a potentially lovely, escapist weekend. Expressing feelings may be challenged by the audience’s insistence that it be presented in a certain form — in triplicate and in blue or black ink only, if you please. Then again, that challenge may not stand a chance against unconventional status-quo disrupting Uranus running wild again today. More news from Wisconsin and the Middle East? With Mercury (mind, travel, communication) entering intangible, dreamy, intuitive Pisces at 3:53PM EST…followed by Mars (action) in Pisces Tuesday in 8:06PM, I’m not sure how realistic that challenge can be. Many may still have their heads in the clouds, basking in the rosy glow of Sunday’s triple meet-up between Mars, Mercury and nebulous Neptune. So if you’re not at the office, enjoy the holiday and indulge in a dream or two…
How’s this for a perfectly timed Neptunian headline: “Ecstasy Does Not Wreck the Mind, Study Claims” http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2011/feb/19/ecstasy-harm-brain-new-study…or this one: “Hiding Details of Dubious Deal, U.S. Invokes National Security” http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/20/us/politics/20data.html?scp=1&sq=dubious&st=cse “Ecstasy” and “dubious” are just a few of the keywords one could expect on a day with a strong influence from Neptune (which rules the sign Pisces, btw).
Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 2/17/2011
/in The ForecastBreakthroughs in technology. You may remember I mentioned the likelihood of such headlines commanding our attention while Uranus, which rules technology, genius, revolution and random genetic mutations (without which we could not evolve), is near the Aries Point (re-read Tuesday’s forecast). Add expansive Jupiter to the Uranus-AP conjunction and the wow! factor really increases (re-read the forecast for January 4th). How’s this for a breakthrough: “Computer Wins Jeopardy!” http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/17/science/17jeopardy-watson.html?hp Ahhhh…but isn’t this interesting: meet-ups between planets often happen in a series: once — twice — and then a third time. The third connection between Jupiter and Uranus was exact on Jan 4th (I believe the Watson show was taped on 1/14); the first connection was on June 8th — and here’s what made the Sunday Times on June 20, 2010: “Smarter Than You Think: IBM’s Watson to Challenge Jeopardy!: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/20/magazine/20Computer-t.html?ref=science OMG, that story came around again — like it’s in some kind of a cycle — perhaps even a planetary cycle — amazing! How do they do that?
Today Moon continues waxing full in Leo, suggesting drama, big hearts and big egos, along with a potentially dazzling or dizzying Neptunian fog that makes me think of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland or Monty Python’s surreal “Confuse A Cat” sketch. Or Paris Hilton — oddly enough, it’s her birthday today.
Note that words and wills may be at odds with feelings as the day progresses. You may not be seeing things clearly, so think twice before initiating a clash or a spat, especially tonight. The Moon is Full Friday at 3:36AM — I’ll tell you all about it in tomorrow’s forecast.
Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 2/16/2011
/in The ForecastAnother day of few exact aspects, with a notable shift in emotional expression as Moon enters the sign of Leo at 4:14AM EST. Playful, regal, fiery — as opposed to protective, nurturing, sensitive. Inventive and expansive connections to that Moon suggest a good day for creative endeavors, especially with a waxing meet-up between Sun and nebulous Neptune on Thursday. On the potential plus side: inspiration, soulfulness, sacrifice, healing. On the potential downside: fog, fanatics, deception, escapism. This rose-colored vibe will be in effect all through the weekend, as Mercury (mind, communication) and Mars join in the mix. Sunday could be…interesting…too bad the Oscars aren’t happening then — it’s a much better night for glamor and glitz than the 27th. Can we reschedule?
If you encounter a chill from the women in your life between now and Friday, chalk it up to a waxing square between Saturn (wet blanket, reserve, control) and Venus. Other issues related to love, social expression, money and beauty may also be challenged…making Friday’s Full Moon in Leo ripe for a scene or two. Watch the headlines for prideful stand-offs as the weekend approaches…and enjoy the relative ease suggested by today’s planetary patterns.
Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 2/14/2011
/in The ForecastAnd a Happy St. Valentine’s Day to you — such as it is. The sign of Aquarius, in which the Sun now sits (in Western astrology), is frankly more about friendship and broad humanitarian concerns than the hearts and flowers of romantic love; if I had my druthers I’d move this holiday to May or August, when the Sun is in Taurus or Leo. Still, when it comes to romance, the planetary patterns for the today could be worse.
Moon in Cancer as of 12:49AM EST suggests emotional security, nurturing and the comforts of home may be what suits our fancy, and expansive displays may manifest as you wake up this morning. Indulgences — of moods, feelings and senses — possibly recalling tensions and/or releases experienced last Tuesday and Wednesday can also color the day. Passion…with a string attached, perhaps?
Working in contrast to the potential for today’s emotional indulgence is a sober, streamlined, practical and efficient connection between Mercury (mind, communication) and Saturn (structure, control), which can be handy if you’re hammering out a deal memo or other outline for a project. It’s not the most romantic connection for Mercury, certainly when it comes to writing love poems and mushy ballads. On the other hand, whatever words are uttered will likely carry gravitas. Odds are strong that If they say they love you, they mean it — and that should make you feel emotionally secure : )
Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 2/11/2011 and the Weekend
/in The Forecast“Stubborn” and “digging in their heels” — see the forecast for 2/10 and 2/9 — as I wrote those words last night and the night before, thoughts of the situation in Egypt did cross my mind. Fascinating to see this headline on AOL: “Mubarak Isn’t Stepping Down and Protesters Are Furious” http://www.aolnews.com/2011/02/10/labor-strikes-spread-in-egypt-adding-pressure-on-hosni-mubarak/?icid=maing|aim|dl1|sec1_lnk2|43299 I took a quick glance at Mubarak’s horoscope, and wouldn’t you know it, he is a Taurus (stubbornness personified) — with apparently Moon in “need to control” Scorpio. Stubborn as he may be, his horoscope suggests tremendous pressure from forces beyond his control. Stay tuned…
Friday may bring a challenge or charge to your New Moon agenda, thanks to the First Quarter Moon at 2:18AM EST. A possibly strange blend of dreamy inspiration and eccentric innovation may come in handy this afternoon on both coasts….with fine print and details to be hashed out later. Moon goes void at 2:27PM EST, suggesting a three-hour break to chill, daydream, brainstorm, take care of routine business until Moon enters chatty, flexible Gemini at 5:20PM EST. If you have important business already scheduled during the void, don’t freak out. Just be aware that the flake factor is higher than usual, roll with any twists that may occur. A “twist” may be as benign as your waitress cheerfully saying, “Good Morning!”, even though it’s 3:30 in the afternoon.
The next Moon void doesn’t occur until 10:19PM EST on Sunday — shop away, if that’s on your agenda. Saturday is quiet; Sunday is looking balanced and quite productive, if you have to work. It’s a good weekend for ideas, conversation, entertainment and information — have fun exercising your brain.
