I am a reporter with a unique beat. I use my understanding of planetary cycles to provide advance notice and analysis on the Zeitgeist of the day. If you have ever wondered “why is this happening now,” my insights will transform your experience of the headlines, adding new meaning and understanding. Call it Astrology for News Junkies. If you’re curious to know why the Impossible Burger is trending…or why the outcome of the 2019 Israeli elections was likely to be a shocker …or why “Woodrow Wilson, Stud Muffin” was a New York Times headline in December 2013, you will find it here, in over a decade’s worth of historical research and reporting.
Note that I do use astrological jargon in The Forecast in my effort to show how the planetary patterns are reflected in mundane events. I explain what the jargon symbolizes, so that all who want to understand the connections between astrology and the news may do so. However, I do not use astrological jargon in personal consultations, just plain English.

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 2/27/2015 & The Weekend: Close to Home
/in The Forecast…and another long Moon void is over. As of 7:50AM ET, Moon enters Cancer, focusing on the need for emotional and/or homeland security. How will you nurture yourself and others today? Cruise along; there are no exact aspects until 7:41PM ET, when the Moon may be provoked by a poke from aggressive Mars. Don’t be such a meanie. A soothing escape may develop around 10pm ET, as Moon aligns with dreamy Neptune…or a shot of Scotch.
East Coasters, get your shopping done early on Saturday, as the Cancer Moon goes void at 12:53PM ET…not to enter Leo until 6:34PM ET on SUNDAY. That’s a long time to chill and focus on building and maintaining the comforts of home. What’s cooking? Note that around noon on Saturday, the Moon makes its weekly clash with the Uranus-Pluto square, suggesting potential upsets and power plays.
Mental Mercury is highlighted today and through Sunday, when it makes a brilliant — if somewhat erratic — contact with Uranus at 10:55AM ET Sunday, followed by an expansive contact with Jupiter at 4:15PM ET. I’ll be watching for exceptionally big ideas — and a bit of bombast — in communication and mindset.
No news today, so I can get this posted by 10AM ET. Glance at the headlines and you’ll see plenty reflecting more Sun-Neptune fallout (art, drugs, oil, vision, etc.), as well as the highly efficient action potential of yesterday’s Mars-Saturn alignment. Yes, some of those actions were destructive. The energy suggested by planetary patterns can be used constructively or destructively. Which will it be for you?
No sleeping in on Monday. We’ll be off to the start of a very active week — and month. Stay tuned to this channel for continuing updates, and have a great weekend!

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 2/26/2015: Neptune in the News — and Other Cosmic Stuff
/in The ForecastStick to routine. Don’t let the buzz over any perceived crisis carry you away. Be aware that the flake factor is higher than average. Blame it on the Gemini Moon being void of course as of 3:43AM ET, not to enter Cancer until 7:50AM ET on Friday. Chill and go with the flow of twists that may arise in your efforts to move forward in a straight line.
And now, the news.
On March 3rd, we’ll have the second of three harmonious alignments between expansive Jupiter and “far out” Uranus. That’ll be less than two weeks away from the seventh Uranus-Pluto square. Take those patterns and add them to yesterday’s weird and wondrous meet-up between Neptune and the Sun, and you might find a few cosmic stories making headlines.
For example, what are those mysterious lights on the dwarf planet known as Ceres? NASA’s Dawn spacecraft zooms in for a closer look on March 6th. What timing! Meanwhile, scientists are equally perplexed by a black hole that has a mass 12 billion times greater than our own Sun…12.8 billion light years away. Makes one wonder how we tiny humans fit into the Big Picture…
Groundbreaking, technogeek news in the healing arts caught my eye: Bionic reconstruction gives men first prosthetic hands controlled by mind. Wow. Also groundbreaking, in the sense that anyone is seriously imagining this next feat will be possible: First full body transplant is two years away, surgeon claims. Hard to wrap my head around that one.
Neptune rules fish. It also rules intangibles. On a day with Sun conjunct Neptune, I was delighted to see this headline on the NYT homepage: “In Overturning Conviction, Supreme Court Says Fish Are Not Always Tangible” Ha! A few column inches down, in the obituaries, I noted this: “Eugenie Clark, Scholar of the Life Aquatic, Dies at 92”. Born on May 4, 1922 in NYC, Ms. Clark’s Taurus Sun is exactly square Neptune…and I’ll bet fifty cents that her Leo Moon is conjunct Neptune, too (can’t confirm it w/out an exact birthtime). Coincidence or conspiracy?
A Gemini Moon just adores news, and current planetary patterns are more optimistic than pessimistic. What a great day to release a study proving that there is actually more good news published than bad news. The words say it all.
Thank you for reading this forecast.

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 2/25/2015: Neptune in Focus…
/in The Forecast…with bonus points to readers who understand the clever wordplay of this forecast’s subtitle. Moon in now in Gemini, doncha’ know…and nan, oh man, oh man….it felt as if yesterday’s all-day Taurus Moon void would never end.
A day without a Moon bouncing off other planets can feel like forever…and quiet, too. I expect plenty of buzz with the Moon in information junkie Gemini (as of 11:54PM ET last night). It will bounce off six planets between 7:35AM and 6:48PM ET: Mars (action), Saturn (ambition/control), Venus (sweet), Sun (challenge), Neptune (vision/space cadet) and Mercury (communication). That’s a lot of bouncing in one day.
Picture the Moon making contact with planets in the same way that the ball in a pinball machine bounces off bumpers when the game is in play. When the ball stops making contact with the bumpers and falls back to the bottom of the machine, you have the equivalent energetic drive of a Moon that is void of course. Got that?
On Monday, I wrote:
Would a headline about net neutrality moving one step closer to becoming reality qualify? Anyway, let the above paragraph be your guide to the day, and get the word out on whatever you’re working on, visionary as it may be.
And now, more news.
First, a follow-up to Brian Williams and Bill O’Reilly, who have both had issues with reality while operating under 1) challenging Mercury (mind)-Neptune (fog) contacts in their respective horoscopes; and 2) one or more planets triggered by the Uranus-Pluto square. It seems Robert A. Macdonald, the Secretary for Verterans Affairs, was caught making stuff up about his military exploits, too. I was certain there would be similar patterns in MacDonald’s horoscope — and there are! MacDonald’s Mercury is squared by Neptune. Astrology is amazing. Oh, and P.S. — Mr. O’Reilly is slated to produce a series called “Legends & Lies” starting this April. Of course he is, given his super-charged Mercury-Neptune conjunction.
Neptune refers to escapes, including those facilitated by drugs and alcohol. On this Sun-Neptune conjunction, Alaska becomes the third state to legalize marijuana. Jamaica also decriminalized recreational use. More will follow suit, as predicted years ago in this forecast, just before Neptune entered Pisces.
Elsewhere, Vermont’s efforts to treat many in that state who are addicted to heroin made the homepage of the NYT. So did an op-ed about a bewildering disease whose symptoms are reflective of the “wipe-out” some experience under heavy Neptune transits: chronic fatigue syndrome. Earlier this week, 12 students at Wesleyan were hospitalized after overdosing on Ecstasy. Sun-Neptune meet-up, there may be consequences when heavy Saturn is part of the party, as it definitely was over the weekend.
Add the me-me-me potential of Venus (women) and Mars (men) in Aries to the potential deception suggested by Sun-Neptune, and you might stumble across an op-ed about why extramarital sex seems so great to some people. Neptune also refers to scams, photography and other intangibles. Thanks to photographer Jim Herrington for bringing this article to my attention. It “exposes the scheme” behind last year’s record-setting sale of a photograph, with the Neptunian title of “Phantom”. Really, six million dollars for a photograph?
Last but not least, on yesterday’s stubborn Taurus Moon, President Obama vetoed a bill that would have authorized the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline.
What’s going on in your horoscope?
Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 2/24/2015: The Oscars and Such
/in The ForecastWow. Where did Monday go? Is it Tuesday already?
The Taurus Moon is void all day — not to enter Gemini until 11:54PM ET. You know the drill: stick to routine concerns and chill. You can still be quite productive in efforts to build and maintain material security thanks to an ease of energy flow between Venus (money, social expression, women) and Saturn that is exact at 9:58AM ET, and carries through the day. Good food, music and a snuggle with your sweetie — those and other creature comforts would be an apt reward tonight.
And now, the news.
From yesterday — how interesting — on a day with an ambitious and controlling square between Saturn and the Sun — to see the words “crack down” appear in not one, but two headlines on the NYT homepage. The Australian leader is cracking down on terrorism. The Venezuelan leader is also cracking down. Curious, isn’t it? There are no more headlines about crackdowns on the NYT homepage right now….but there is one which includes the words “Best Selfie Ever”. Remember last week when Venus entered Aries and I anticipated that we’d see more headlines about selfies? Well, that didn’t take long…
So the Oscars came and went and what happened? Patricia Arquette won for Best Supporting Actress. She made headlines for giving an acceptance speech calling for wage equality — and it went viral, especially since Meryl Streep was captured on film reacting to it by leaping out of her chair and shouting “YES!!!” You will recall what a rebel Ms. Streep is when her horoscope was discussed in a bit about astro-twin Elizabeth Warren’s horoscope last week, right? And that we’d expect her rebellious spark to attract attention, yes?
As for Ms. Arquette, it should be no surprise to learn that she has Venus (social expression) at 29 Pisces and Mercury (mindset communication) at 2 Aries. They are both within range of the Aries Point, and thus can be expected to attract attention. With transiting Venus and Mars at 2 Aries on Sunday, of course what Ms. Arquette had to say would be noticed. We can expect Ms. Arquette to remain in the spotlight over the next couple of years, as Uranus and Pluto supercharge her Aries Sun and Midheaven.
In other news, there’s Fox celebrity Bill O’Reilly. He’s been accused of inflating some of the stories he reported while covering the Falklands war many years ago for CBS. Naturally my first thought was that he must have a dynamic aspect between Mercury (mindset) and Neptune (color it rose) in his horoscope, like Brian Williams. And in fact he does have Mercury conjunct Neptune, and this idealistic pattern is under fire from Uranus and Pluto. We’d expect his words and thoughts to be supercharged. Not only that, but Mr. O’Reilly has Moon in me-me-me Aries, just like Mr. Williams. Moon in Aries is a natural warrior, doncha’ know. It needs to lead and inspire. It needs to be a hero. Isn’t that interesting?
Keepin’ it light today. What’s going on in your horoscope?
Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 2/23/2015: Sneak Peek at the Week
/in The ForecastGood Morning!
A steady and solid Taurus Moon drives the day with a need to build and maintain security and comfort. As of 9AM ET, it is cruising without interference, facilitating the growth of your New Moon seeds from last week. Around 9PM ET, there’s an easy flow of depth and potency, as the Moon and Pluto align. A challenge to the Moon from Jupiter at 9:57PM ET suggests expanse and/or expense, perhaps in an area of power and resources.
Moon goes void on that Moon-Jupiter square — not to enter Gemini until 11:54PM ET, so ship it today if you can. Otherwise you may find your project subject to curious delays and twists, thwarting your efforts to move forward in a straight line. Routine planning and inspired communication can be quite constructive, however — thanks to an ease of energy flow between Venus (money, social expression, women) and Saturn at 9:58AM ET on Tuesday. That’s the only exact aspect of the day, and its potential can be seized and applied right now.
Wednesday is the busiest day this week. That’s when we’ll have the First Quarter Moon, presenting a challenge to the New Moon projects launched last week. Work it out, using another easy flow of energy supplied by Mars (working with efficiency in Aries) and Saturn. Headlines about progress and initiatives in the media and other collective belief systems, methinks…driven by a vision or fantasy. That strong idealism is suggested by the Sun’s annual meet-up with Neptune at 11:56PM ET. If you were born around the 25th of February or the 30th of August, May and December, you’re likely feeling the rose-colored fog more than most.
Other voids for the week: Thursday at 3:43AM ET until 7:50AM ET on FRIDAY. OK, so much for Thursday. Roll with the flakes and chill if events and appointments do not go as planned. Crises that crop up tend to be much ado about nothing. Avoid finalizing plans and impulse shopping sprees. Take time to recharge and allow yourself to wander. Moon will also be void on Saturday from 12:53pm ET until 6:34PM ET on SUNDAY.
I will add the news reflecting today’s heavy, no-nonsense Sun-Saturn square after I post this forecast at 10AM. Check back later today. Meanwhile, if you’re wondering how planetary patterns can be used to your personal advantage, here’s how you can contact me about scheduling an astro-logical consultation.
Onward!
