THE
I am a reporter with a unique beat. I use my understanding of planetary cycles to provide advance notice and analysis on the Zeitgeist of the day. If you have ever wondered “why is this happening now,” my insights will transform your experience of the headlines, adding new meaning and understanding. Call it Astrology for News Junkies. If you’re curious to know why the Impossible Burger is trending…or why the outcome of the 2019 Israeli elections was likely to be a shocker …or why “Woodrow Wilson, Stud Muffin” was a New York Times headline in December 2013, you will find it here, in over a decade’s worth of historical research and reporting.
Note that I do use astrological jargon in The Forecast in my effort to show how the planetary patterns are reflected in mundane events. I explain what the jargon symbolizes, so that all who want to understand the connections between astrology and the news may do so. However, I do not use astrological jargon in personal consultations, just plain English.

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 1/17/2011
/in The ForecastHappy birthday to Betty White! And happy Martin Luther King, Jr Day, too — MLK’s actual birthday was Jan 15th. Still, it seems fitting that today begins with two aspects that suggest taking note of your dreams upon waking…
If you’re working today, you may have a surprising amount of information to process this morning. Be kind to your machines and your tech support people, lest they be overloaded. Moon goes void at 12:57 PM NY time, then enters Cancer at 2:29 PM. This suggests a slow start and/or an unexpected departure from your usual morning routine on the West Coast, and a perfect lunch break on the East Coast.
Moon in Cancer for the remainder of the day suggests a need to focus on the comforts of home and whatever else makes us feel secure therein. Speeches heard this afternoon may wax rhapsodic about patriotism, homeland, mom and apple pie. In the headlines, I anticipate more leaps in consciousness in the areas of technology and the cosmos (including astrology) and the humanitarian spirit.
This day affords an opportunity to apply an innovative, expansive approach to your make-it-happen strategy you’ve been acting on since the New Moon on Jan 4th. Communicate. Network. Concentrated mental focus is also favored — of a persuasive, persistent, investigative kind — watch the headlines for more dirt on your favorite government institution — as well as for an opportunity to state your case. Watch for brutal honesty in power struggles, too.
Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 1/14/2011 and the Weekend; More on the Myth of the 13th Sign
/in The ForecastNo exact aspects during business hours on both coasts, though toward the end of the day we can tune in to a stabilizing connection between earthy Moon in Taurus and Sun in Capricorn. See how much you can consolidate today and enjoy the evening, which offers the potential for epicurean delights. We shift into a much more talkative, less tactile space on Saturday, as Moon enters Gemini, the sign that NEEDS to inform. Note your dreams.
The highlight of the weekend is Mars entering airy Aquarius, suggesting that actions will be taken over the next few weeks that demonstrate individual freedom, social significance and humanitarian concerns. If that sound like a contradiction, well…that’s the nature of Aquarius.
Meanwhile, it is intriguing to see how many people are posting that “article” I wrote about on January 4th — the one in which an astronomer announced that your Sun Sign wasn’t really your Sun Sign, and, oh by the way, there are 13 signs in the zodiac. HuffPo, The Chicago Tribune and an NBC affiliate are just a few media outlets that carried — and not a single one appears to have interviewed an astrologer for a response and clarification! So…to clarify (in case you missed it on the 4th): the writer of the “article” in question appears to not understand the difference between the sidereal and tropical zodiacs, and he doesn’t seem to understand that there is a difference between the constellations and the signs of the zodiac as applied in various systems of astrology.
Check out these nifty articles and you’ll learn about the precession of the equinoxes and other cool things about your home planet: http://www.astrologycom.com/precession2.html — and please check out the forecast I posted on Jan 4th for more details — and email me if you still have questions. Bottom line: your Sun Sign in Western astrology has not changed!
(with gratitude to astrologer Jill Amery for the link to the articles — I like them much better than the ones I found last week)
Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 1/13/2011
/in The ForecastLook to the Moon in Taurus, which needs to build and preserve security and stability, to bring a calmer vibe to the next couple of days. This is your chance to give form to the ideas and projects you have on your plate. Be productive!
Mercury, ruling mind, communication and travel shifts from opinionated Sagittarius into practical, make-it-happen Capricorn for the next few weeks. This could also bring those inclined to high-flying and/or exaggerated opinions back down to earth — though it may take a day for us to adjust to this shift in communications and thought.
Meanwhile, in Arizona, thousands were cheered by the news that Gabrielle Giffords opened her eyes for the first time since Saturday. President Obama announced the news, saying, “”She knows we’re here, and she knows we love her.”
Given that Giffords has Moon in Leo, a placement suggesting a strong need to be loved and adored, this struck me as a particularly fitting — and potentially healing — public announcement. All week I’ve been thinking of writing that if you happen to believe that thoughts can influence others who are thousands of miles away, it couldn’t hurt to send a loving message to Gabrielle Giffords. And if you’re personally involved with someone who has Moon in Leo — you now have a piece of information you can use to keep that relationship flowing smoothly : )
Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 1/12/11
/in The ForecastYet another potentially highly charged full business day of action on both coasts — can you stand it? Moon is still zipping through Aries, a sign that sometimes falls down stairs because it’s faster than walking. With Mars, ruler of Aries in an easy, communicative connection between innovative Uranus, I encourage you to take a fresh approach. Just hours ago, for example, I was at a networking gathering of media folks & I decided to stick that silly adhesive name tag they always ask you to wear right on my pint of Stella Artois. Who would have thought it would have attracted such a positive response? Today, try something new and inspired!
Read yesterday’s forecast for thoughts on the First Quarter Moon, exact this AM at 6:31AM. Patience may be called for later in the day — say around 6PM NY time — when that impulsive Moon squares offs against feisty Mars. Could be a few emotional spats in the air, so resist the urge to engage.
After a brief Moon void at 9:47PM NY, Moon enters placid Taurus at 10:37PM NY, turning down the volume for a quiet night of sweet music and other delights in the safe, secure comfort of wherever you call home.
Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 1/1/11 & More on Ted Williams
/in The ForecastMore of the same from yesterday: big and/or inflated ideas, opinions, striving for expression and respect. If it’s your idea, of course it’s brilliant; the ideas of others — well — perhaps those will provide fodder for a rowdy debate. Challenges are suggested by the end of the day on both coasts, when it may become clear that passion and impulsive drive need to be shaped and structured in order to take form. That challenge will come just before Wednesday’s First Quarter Moon — perhaps adjusting your “make it happen” agenda from last week’s New Moon. And that’s all good, right?
I promised a reader I’d take a look at the horoscope of Ted Williams — the man with the “golden voice” — and his sudden rise to fame. Now before I even found the birth date on line, I expected to see at least one of two things: 1) something major that would have been triggered by the potential “sudden windfall that disrupts the status quo” of last week’s Jupiter-Uranus conjunction; and 2) something in his chart connected to the Aries Point. Regular readers of this column will recall the Aries Point corresponds to the first day of each season: the equinoxes and the solstices. If you have a planet close to zero degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn, it will likely “pull focus” in your horoscope — striving for recognition.
So here’s Ted Williams: 9/22/1957, birth time unknown, in Bed-Stuy (Brooklyn) NY. What do we see? Sun and Mars at 29 Virgo — within half a degree of the Aries Point of zero Libra, triggered by an opposition from that “sudden windfall” of Jupiter-Uranus! Isn’t astrology fascinating?
If you enjoy this daily forecast, I would be thrilled if you shared it with all your friends. If you do and something magical happens, I will be able to write about my “sudden windfall”, too! : )
