I am a reporter with a unique beat. I use my understanding of planetary cycles to provide advance notice and analysis on the Zeitgeist of the day. If you have ever wondered “why is this happening now,” my insights will transform your experience of the headlines, adding new meaning and understanding. Call it Astrology for News Junkies. If you’re curious to know why the Impossible Burger is trending…or why the outcome of the 2019 Israeli elections was likely to be a shocker …or why “Woodrow Wilson, Stud Muffin” was a New York Times headline in December 2013, you will find it here, in over a decade’s worth of historical research and reporting.
Note that I do use astrological jargon in The Forecast in my effort to show how the planetary patterns are reflected in mundane events. I explain what the jargon symbolizes, so that all who want to understand the connections between astrology and the news may do so. However, I do not use astrological jargon in personal consultations, just plain English.
Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 3/3/2011: The Dark Side of the Moon
/in The ForecastNote your dreams upon waking — they may be especially vivid thanks to a hook-up between Moon and nebulous Neptune. And if you’re on the West Coast, you may even sleep in, thanks to a brief void-of-course Moon between 6:37AM and 8:47AM PST. On the East Coast, you may notice a spacey, slow start to the day, augmented by that dreamy Moon-Neptune connection and Moon’s shift into Pisces after the void.
We’re still on the dark side of the Moon, good for wrapping up projects in preparation for the beginning of the new cycle, which begins Friday afternoon. And yet there’s a potency about this day, courtesy of a supportive connection between ruthless Pluto and Mars, planet of action. What will Governor Scott Walker do next (this connection does, for better or worse, tie in nicely with his horoscope)? Revelations and an efficient, effective course of action are suggested.
Looking ahead to the rest of the month – it’s still pretty much full speed ahead. Planning an escape? Jot down March 30th – April 22nd, the next Mercury retrograde, as a good time to head for the hills. Meanwhile, the excitement continues…
And in case you haven’t heard: only one more day before I head for Los Angeles, where I will be until March 14th. I can’t wait to be back in the City of Angels!! If you or anyone else you know would like to schedule an appointment for a personal consultation, please let me know. I would be delighted to be of service!
Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday, 3/1/2011
/in The ForecastWriting this shortly after the Moon entered humanitarian Aquarius at 12:14AM, to be followed soon after by Venus, planet of love, money and social expression making a supportive connection to innovative Uranus, which rules Aquarius (still with me? does that give you a little sense of how planets and signs are interconnected?). This is a great day for brainstorming a creative solution in the name of a socially significant ideal. More Aquarian energy is added to the mix when Venus leaves social-climbing Capricorn for unconventional Aquarius, which you may see reflected in our collective tastes over the next few weeks.
With all that’s going on in the world — in the Middle East and the Midwest, you’d think the last thing on our minds would be yet another unfortunate tale of an actor having a public meltdown. And yet my facebook newsfeed is just littered with links and comments about Charlie Sheen. Trashed hotel rooms, trashing employers — what’s going on with the highest paid actor on television?
Sheen was born September 3, 1965, 10:48P in New York, NY. Sun in Virgo, Moon in Sagittarius, Gemini Ascendant. The Sun-Moon combo suggests a life perspective laced with romance, adventure and excitement, with a reigning need to have his opinions respected, played out in the areas of shared resources (including sex) and relationships via an expansive, potentially excessive connection from Jupiter, the cosmic sugardaddy. This need for freedom and expansion is apparently frustrated by certain controls — but from whom or where? Sheen’s horoscope is challenging, suggesting a pattern of giving himself away to others and considerable baggage leftover from childhood that needs to be unpacked and put away. I’d definitely want to ask Sheen why his horoscope suggests that his relationship with his parents was so complicated, as it is strongly suggested that patterns in his early home contributed to anxiety about his lovability. Yet somehow he has turned his suffering into an art form.
Abundance in love and money are also suggested here — and could easily run away with the horoscope. Boundaries are likely an issue; it’s possible he could play the martyr or victim in relationship, as he searches for a perfect ideal. He really does have a cross to bear in relationship, starting with the relationship he has with himself. So much power and talent. So why has life been so hard? There is the suggestion of struggle — possibly brutal, over power and control. And drugs and alcohol are not a viable alternative; I’d argue that Sheen’s system is especially vulnerable to toxins — and that vulnerability is suggested in the horoscope.
Sheen’s excessive behavior has been known in certain circles for years, but why is it making headlines right now? Look no further than status quo-disrupting Uranus, currently challenging Sheen’s opinionated Moon in Sagittarius and expansive Jupiter at the Aries Point (if you’ve been reading the forecast daily, you know that planets at the Aries Point are pushed into prominence). The consequences? That excess simply can’t be ignored. On the plus side, this could be an opportunity to finally grow up; on the down side, feelings of isolation (suggested by transiting Saturn, planet of control, meeting up with Venus, planet of love and money, this fall). Later this spring, nebulous Neptune will soon be challenging Sheen’s Ascendant, suggesting a potential ego wipe-out, or at the very least, bewilderment. It’ll take a year or two for this chapter to play out, but if he can rise to the challenge, 2013 is looking promising.
Meanwhile, in case you haven’t heard, I will be in Los Angeles March 4-14th, and available for astrological consultation in person. How cool is that? Email me if you’d like to schedule an appointment. : )
Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 3/2/2011: John Galliano
/in The ForecastNo major aspects today, save an efficient connection between Moon in Aquarius and Saturn. That should keep you focused and on track. We are in the dark side of the Moon — nearing the end of the lunar cycle; the New Moon in Pisces kicks in on Friday. Think about wrapping up projects you began at the start of last month’s New Moon in Aquarius.
Meanwhile, a reader asked for an astrological take on John Galliano, the brilliant fashion designer whose career at Dior abruptly ended when a video of him hurling verbal slings and arrows at patrons in a local bar hit the internet. Natalie Portman and others were not amused http://runway.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/02/28/natalie-portman-condemns-galliano/?scp=2&sq=natalie+portman&st=cse
Galliano was born November 28, 1960 in Gibraltar, birth time unknown. His Sun is in Sagittarius, a sign known for frank, honest expression, as well as being a chronic sufferer of foot-in-mouth disease. Add to this Moon in Aries, a sign known for falling down stairs because it’s faster than walking, and you’ve got quite an impulsive combination. I don’t have an exact birth time, but I suspect that impulsive Aries Moon is challenged — either by expansive (sometimes grandiose, as in Charlie Sheen) Jupiter, or by aggressive Mars. What’s interesting in Galliano’s horoscope is the suggestion of aggression that was suppressed and/or frustrated, especially in the early home. There is a severe tightness of emotional expression here, and it seems to work in contrast to the otherwise expansive, impulsive nature of the Sun in Sagittarius and the Aries Moon. This would be one theme of discussion in a consultation.
Given this horoscope, I’m not surprised to read of Gallianos’s outbursts under the influence of alcohol; so much is likely kept under wraps during “normal business hours” for the sake of propriety. As for why this outburst made the headlines now, I suspect either ruthless Pluto or erratic Uranus currently making an explosive contact with Galliano’s Aries Moon, in addition to expansive Jupiter. Interesting to note a few similarities between this horoscope and Charlie Sheen’s.
Meanwhile, only two more days before I head for Los Angeles, where I will be until March 14th. If you or anyone else you know would like to schedule an appointment for a personal consultation, please let me know. I would be delighted to be of service!

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 2/28/2011
/in The ForecastMake-it-happen Capricorn energy gets you up and at ’em Monday morning; the Moon has been in that practical, proactive, take care of business sign all weekend — did you feel it? Was that why the Oscars felt so…efficient? Note the lack of a Moon void, suggesting no big surprises or upsets in favor of the underdog. I did not look at the horoscopes of this year’s contenders; one can assume the horoscopes of all nominees are strong — they’d have to be, to be nominated! Last year I was sure Meryl Streep would take home the award for Best Actress over Sandra Bullock, as the latter’s horoscope suggested an especially challenging period in her life — certainly compared to Streep’s. Of course Bullock DID win…and the next week her marriage fell apart. Challenging! And yet last night she looked so radiant in red. Moral of the story: it’s not so much the challenges we face, but how we choose to respond to them that matters. I know you know this, but it can’t hurt to be reminded of it, so embrace the challenges on your desk today and reward yourself for your hard work and discipline later tonight.
Meanwhile, I will be booking appointments for my trip to Los Angeles next week (March 4-14); if you or anyone else you know would like to book a horoscope consultation, please let me know — I’d love to see you. : )
