THE
I am a reporter with a unique beat. I use my understanding of planetary cycles to provide advance notice and analysis on the Zeitgeist of the day. If you have ever wondered “why is this happening now,” my insights will transform your experience of the headlines, adding new meaning and understanding. Call it Astrology for News Junkies. If you’re curious to know why the Impossible Burger is trending…or why the outcome of the 2019 Israeli elections was likely to be a shocker …or why “Woodrow Wilson, Stud Muffin” was a New York Times headline in December 2013, you will find it here, in over a decade’s worth of historical research and reporting.
Note that I do use astrological jargon in The Forecast in my effort to show how the planetary patterns are reflected in mundane events. I explain what the jargon symbolizes, so that all who want to understand the connections between astrology and the news may do so. However, I do not use astrological jargon in personal consultations, just plain English.
Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 6/22/2011: Nebulous Neptune in the News
/in The ForecastKeep your grounding cord down as the Moon in soulful Pisces continues its free fall, not to enter the next sign, Aries, until after midnight. For details on the energy of a void-of-course Moon, check out the ESSAYS section on my website, www.graceastrology.com. If you must move in a straight line today, then move you must; just be advised that the chances of getting off track are increased, so roll with whatever twists may come your way. If you do have freedom to float, follow your bliss. Creative and healing activities are highly favored.
Two powerful aspects from nebulous Neptune in its home sign of Pisces are exact today. Neptune squares aggressive Mars and trines the life-giving Sun. Neptune tends to dissolves whatever it touches, especially structures and other material things. Clouds, fog, glamor, charisma and other intangibles such as music, photography, healing and spirit are related to Neptune. When Neptune is strong in a horoscope, things may not be as they seem. Fact checking and reading the fine print more than once becomes essential.
How might Neptune square Mars manifest in an individual horoscope? For one possibility, look no further than today’s front-page profile of would-be president Michele Bachman http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/22/us/politics/22bachmann.html?hp Sarah Palin has this aspect. So does Glenn Beck. Newt Gingrich and Bill Clinton also have intense connections between Mars and Neptune (not squares, however).
In the headlines yesterday I noted a few Neptune-influenced stories in the headlines. In the business world, it was noted that the debt-ridden city of Harrisburg, the capital of PA is appealing to God to help solve its financial woes with a three-day prayer and fast in which the mayor will participate http://blogs.reuters.com/faithworld/2011/06/18/harrisburg-pennsylvania-turns-to-god-for-fiscal-relief/ In the media, a UK newspaper apologizes for publishing a sex scandal that turned out to be fake http://www.pressgazette.co.uk/story.asp?sectioncode=1&storycode=47324&c=1 …and so was this press release announcing that a US company had been accused of fraud http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/06/21/china-accounting-hoax-idUSN1E75K0ON20110621 Meanwhile, JP Morgan Chase will pay millions to settle with the SEC over charges it misled investors http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702303936704576399971570631618.html?mod=googlenews_wsj And finally, we have this front page story about an innovative new camera http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/22/technology/22camera.html?hp
Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 6/21/2011: Summer Solstice
/in The ForecastDid I forget to mention that Moon moved into Pisces yesterday at 4:45PM ET, after a void so brief that if you blinked, you missed it? Apparently. Moon in Pisces needs to work with intangibles; working with your intuition and going with the flow can be an effective strategy during such times.
It could feel downright soupy over the next two days, as nebulous Neptune, the sign that rules Pisces, makes strong aspects to energetic Mars and life-giving Sun (both exact tomorrow during a day-long void). Watery depths increase with the Sun’s ingress into Cancer at 1:17PM ET, marking the Summer Solstice — the longest day of the year. The first two days around a Solstice or Equinox are especially charged, as these degrees of the zodiac: Zero Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn mark the beginning of a new season. Collectively these degrees are known as the Aries Point, and whenever a planet in your horoscope falls on one of these points, you can be sure it will push for prominence in your life.
Restrictive Saturn in Libra, sign of fairness, balance, judges squares Mercury (mind, communication, travel) in Cancer (women, mom, emotional security) at 2:42PM ET. An apt aspect for yesterday’s Supreme Court decision denying 1.5 million current and former Walmart employees (women) to sue their employer for sex discrimination resulting in inequitable pay and promotion? Saturn-Mercury aspects can be heavy, sometimes downright depressing. On the other hand, the serious focus can be constructive. In the case of the Walmart employees, the loss sustained by each averaged $1100, according to the New York Times. What if 1.5 million women filed a case in small claims court? Putting together a case in court isn’t brain surgery. They wouldn’t need a lawyer to file; they could name corporate officers all the way to the top of the company; and Walmart would have to pay their lawyers to respond to each case. That’s my magical thinking idee du jour, no doubt influenced by the strong influence of nebulous Neptune, leading to indulgent flights of fancy.
Get it off your desk today if you can, in preparation for tomorrow’s day-long void, which starts tonight at 10:51PM ET on a potentially indulgent square between Moon (feelings) and Venus (women, art, beauty, love).
Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 6/20/2011
/in The ForecastA planetary wobble starts the work week. Mars, planet of action (and often aggression), leaves territorial Taurus at 10:50PM ET for six-week sojourn through chatterbox Gemini. The shift suggests that energy to consolidate and accumulate will be augmented by flexibility and a desire to diversify. Communication may become sharp and/or edgy.
Under pressure, Mars energy can be expressed as a clash of wills. When Mars in Taurus challenges Moon (feelings) at today 4:23PM ET, the result can be a stubborn, seething, silent stand-off. Once Mars moves into Gemini, challenging aspects to Mars may be experienced as a war of words.
Mars-Moon challenge notwithstanding, the last full day of Sun in information junkie Gemini features a balanced connection between the Sun and Moon in humanitarian Aquarius, suggesting you’ll be able to process whatever incisive, sobering news comes across your desk with emotional detachment this morning and early afternoon (you’ve been warned about the possibilities around 4:23PM ET).You’ll need that incisive, sobering mindset to see clearly through the rose-colored glasses offered by a charismatic would-be savior. Why do I say that? Because nebulous Neptune in Pisces pulls focus over the next three days, challenging Mars in Gemini (exact on Wednesday) and tempting us with delicious flights of fancy that can be productive for artists and healers; dangerous for others if you happen to be a fanatic driven to extremes.
And speaking of Wednesday, Moon will be void of course all day — in Pisces. Plan accordingly.
I’ve been meaning to write a few quick words on Greece, whose fiscal crisis is heating up once again. Both horoscopes I’ve seen for this country have planets that are being impacted by the Big T-Square Party among the heavies: Pluto, Uranus and Saturn. Intensity, upheaval, a rooting out of corruption leading to healing transformation — it continues to play out through the rest of this year.
Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 6/17/2011 and the Weekend; Weiner Eclipsed
/in The ForecastLess bumpy today. Moon in Capricorn continues to push us to take care of business, but without the fits and starts of yesterday’s harsh contacts from the heavies: Pluto, Saturn and Uranus. And perhaps you’ll find the pressures of the backlog/bottleneck suggested by the lunar eclipse have eased up.
Mind, communication and travel could incline you to the sublime, the optimistic, the escapist or expansive, thanks to supportive contacts to Mercury from rose-colored Neptune and enthusiastic Jupiter. Watch for innovation and possibly genius in your own personal world, as well as the headlines. By Sunday, you may be struck by a profound insight that cuts to the quick or cuts away the fat. It’s all part of this month’s lunar cycle: new ways of thinking that get you out of your comfort zone, so you can progress to the next level. Don’t be afraid to let go.
Your insights may have an especially sober, yet stabilizing effect on a partner or an investment. You can get real without the drama. Moon in humanitarian, independent Aquarius as of Saturday AM cherishes friendship above all else. Perhaps you will be inspired to mix and mingle with your own cherished friends.
Meanwhile, Congressman Anthony Weiner resigned, in what is surely the most important news story of decade. At least for him. Looking at his horoscope (again), it is interesting to note that the New Moon and solar eclipse on June 1st made a challenging square to Weiner’s own Sun, Uranus and Pluto hooked up at 11 to 13 degrees of Virgo. That drive for power; that (apparently) uncontrollable need for risk and excitement; that sense of independence — of being a renegade, an innovator, a ruthless disruptor of the status quo….well? It was suddenly “eclipsed,” wasn’t it? Were you born eleven days into the sign of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces? You may be feeling the effects of this eclipse more than others, too.
Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 6/16/2011: Saturn, Gay Marriage & You
/in The ForecastKeep your grounding cord down, as Moon in practical, make-it-happen Capricorn gets you out of bed, perhaps with a little flash of inspiration or a jolt. Dynamic connections to Moon from disruptive Uranus, ruthlessly investigative Pluto and sobering Saturn keeps this day moving forward, with or without potholes. What revelation/illumination will the fallout from yesterday’s lunar eclipse/Full Moon bring? Another scandal? Keep an eye on this news source for headlines you may not see in your local fish wrap http://www.truth-out.org/news
In light of Saturn’s recent move forward in Libra, which seeks fairness, justice and balance in relationships, I noted several stories in recent headlines about gay marriage, one of the issues I predicted would be front and center during Saturn’s two year transit in the sign of the Scales. The NY State Assembly approved a same-sex marriage bill. Now it has to clear the State Senate http://edition.cnn.com/2011/US/06/15/new.york.gay.marriage/index.html. Meanwhile, a federal judge upheld Judge Vaughn Walker’s decision to strike down California’s gay marriage ban http://www.christianpost.com/news/gay-judges-ruling-on-californias-same-sex-marriage-ban-upheld-51173/
Be patient in areas related to mind, communication, travel and gizmos today. Mercury leaves its home sign of Gemini for the touchy-feely sign of Cancer. Less rational, more intuitive. It’ll take a day or so to adjust. Plus there’s all those waves from yesterday’s lunar event. Eat some potatoes if you’re feeling wobbly.
If you’re wondering how these intense planetary patterns are impacting you personally, consider booking a session to discuss your unique horoscope. Otherwise, if you enjoy reading this daily forecast, please pass it on – and thank you to those of you who already do. Gratitude!
