I am a reporter with a unique beat. I use my understanding of planetary cycles to provide advance notice and analysis on the Zeitgeist of the day. If you have ever wondered “why is this happening now,” my insights will transform your experience of the headlines, adding new meaning and understanding. Call it Astrology for News Junkies. If you’re curious to know why the Impossible Burger is trending…or why the outcome of the 2019 Israeli elections was likely to be a shocker …or why “Woodrow Wilson, Stud Muffin” was a New York Times headline in December 2013, you will find it here, in over a decade’s worth of historical research and reporting.
Note that I do use astrological jargon in The Forecast in my effort to show how the planetary patterns are reflected in mundane events. I explain what the jargon symbolizes, so that all who want to understand the connections between astrology and the news may do so. However, I do not use astrological jargon in personal consultations, just plain English.

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday & Saturday 11/1-2/2013: News From Underground
/in The ForecastShould be a busy day. Whereas yesterday had only one exact planetary pattern, today we’ve got a boatload — much of the action we can expect has been covered in prior forecasts. If you happened to be up this morning at 1:26AM ET (other time zones, please do the math), you may have experienced a jolt, revelation, power play or other disruption, as the peace-seeking Libra Moon was challenged by the never-ending Uranus-Pluto square. That square, a.k.a. The Planetary Pattern Everyone Should Be Talking About, will be exact for the fourth of seven times at 7:13AM ET; it’s happening with rebel Uranus at 9 degrees of Aries and ruthless Pluto at 9 degrees of Capricorn.
If you were born 8-10 days into Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn or if you have a planet or angle around 8-10 degrees of those signs, you are feeling the push for emancipation and empowerment more than most. The fifth exact square will be on April 21, 2014…at 13 degrees of Aries and Capricorn.
As discussed yesterday, along with the buzz of Uranus-Pluto, this day offers much potential for serious focus and revelations as a result of investigation — perhaps driven by idealism. I’m already seeing plenty of “news from underground”, including a tunnel used for smuggling discovered at the U.S. – Mexican border. Also, a notorious “architect of the Holocaust” who escaped capture in 1945 is now believed to have been killed and buried in a Jewish cemetery in that same year. And if you’ve been following the phone hacking scandal in the UK involving editors of newspapers controlled by Rupert Murdoch, you would have learned yesterday that two of the editors now on trial — Rebekah Brooks and Andy Coulson — had a secret, six year-long affair. And all three of these stories are on the homepage of the New York Times right now as I type. Coincidence or conspiracy?
Meanwhile, I am delighted to find Edward Snowden back in the headlines simply because I expected him to be making news as a result of some reach of ambition around Halloween. What has he done? Well, apparently, he’s gotten a new job. What’s going on in his horoscope? Believe me, planetary patterns are loud and clear. Would you like to know what’s going on in your horoscope? Consult your local astrologer for details.
Last but not least, you may recall an article posted earlier this week about the dire challenges we face as a result of climate change. As a follow up, here’s how that crisis may impact investors, according to Al Gore. If you happen to be an investor, read that article and learn how to avoid the “carbon bubble”. You’re welcome. There’s a gold “Donate” button to the left of this forecast on this page if you’d like to make a donation, with gratitude — so I don’t run out of midnight oil. Is it too late to say “Trick or treat!?”
On Saturday, the Libra Moon is void from 8:47AM – 1:35PM ET. After that, Moon will be in Scorpio, looking to fulfill its need for depth and substance. Patterns are light; your Saturday date night is aided and abetted by a dreamy connection between the Moon and nebulous Neptune. Don’t forget to turn your clocks back one hour, as Daylight Savings Time officially ends at 2AM ET on Sunday. The new lunar cycle begins at 7:50AM ET — in Scorpio — and it’s also an eclipse. I’ll write about that later this weekend. Stay tuned…
Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 10/31/2013: Dark Matters, Tricks and Treats
/in The ForecastHappy Halloween!
Moon entered people-pleasing Libra as of 8:22AM ET, suggesting a need for focus on integrity and appreciation in relationship. Charm, social graces and rational — if somewhat detached — debate are classic Libra traits, as is a need for peaceful balance. And during business hours today, things may well flow smoothly, as there are no exact jarring aspects to the Moon until after midnight tonight, when it will clash with the never-ending Uranus-Pluto square (discussed in further detail in the link below).
Also facilitating a smooth flow of energy is a connection between action hero Mars and resourceful Pluto, exact this morning at 6:45AM ET. Add this easy flow to the disruptive — as in “it’s a new world” — potential of the Planetary Pattern Everyone Should Be Talking About, and you could wake up to a story about fueling stations for Tesla electric cars now available between San Diego and Vancouver. They’re even calling it a “supercharger route” — how cool is that?
Not only is physical energy running high today, but mental faculties continue to be ripe for deep focus and revelation, especially if the subject of your focus is a Mercury retrograde review. That potential is suggested by excellent support to mental Mercury by today’s resourceful Mars-Pluto connection. Go ahead and dig deep.
Meanwhile, some fun stuff making headlines. First, another “new world” discovery — an Earth-like planet seemingly straight from the pits of Hell. Second, an update on the quest for physical evidence of “dark matter” — an appropriate subject with so many planets currently in Scorpio and its ruler — Pluto, Lord of the Underworld — pulling focus. I love it when scientists go on quests for physical evidence of things they theorize must exist, based on certain consequences. One day perhaps they’ll go on a quest for physical evidence of — say — the energy of Mercury retrograde, for example — something even more tangible than the consequences that always manifest, e.g., tech snafus, communication glitches, etc. Yeah, that’s a deep thought. I do not know why planetary patterns reflect life development, but I know how to use those planetary patterns to help people live life better. As evidenced by the email I received this morning from a client who was pleased to report that, just as her horoscope suggested, she did land a wonderful new job several weeks after our last consultation. Astrology is amazing.
And off that tangent, I close with two fun stories about individuals who are disrupting the status quo in the art world. One is about the anonymous graffiti artist Banksy, who’s taken New York by storm this month; the other involves thrift stores, a woman named Thyrza Segal and monsters — just in time for Halloween — enjoy!
Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 10/30/2013: More on the Planetary Pattern Everyone Should Be Talking About
/in The ForecastSo…yesterday’s forecast is applicable today, but since I did not post until noon ET, you may not have read it. Here it is again — entitled “The Planetary Pattern Everyone Should Be Talking About” — please share it with all your friends and relations, as this is super-helpful information for understanding what’s happening in the world.
Moon is still in Virgo (read about that in the link above). The mood is a little lighter, as we are moving away from the heavy Mercury-Saturn hook-up. And yet there’s more intensity and more buzz (again, see link above). Keep your nose to the grindstone and by the time 10:48PM ET rolls around, the Moon will go void on a pleasantly indulgent challenge between loving Venus in rollicking Sagittarius and the discriminating Virgo Moon. During the void, no harm, no foul — and no consequences likely — for whatever happens after hours, inspired by a deep, juicy and resourceful connection between energetic Mars and potent Pluto at 6:45AM ET on Thursday. The void ends at 8:22AM ET on Thursday; East Coasters may feel a little slow about getting the day started, but West Coasters have no excuse.
OK, the news. Reflecting planetary patterns, here’s a heavy Mercury-Saturn meets revolutionary Uranus-Pluto piece entitled “How Science is Telling Us All to Revolt”. Provocative, daunting and controversial. How are we ever going to figure this out? Meanwhile, nebulous Neptune is in Pisces, which you may recall from past posts — as far back as a few years ago — suggests that water (or lack thereof) in all forms — including oceans — will become a major concern during Neptune’s 14-year sojourn through the sign it rules. Add Neptune in Pisces to the disruptive Uranus-Pluto square and see it reflected in countless stories, including this heavy article called “The Ocean Is Broken”.
Sure, you could put a SEP field around it & not read these weighty articles, but a SEP field won’t solve the challenges, and planetary patterns suggest this is not the time for hiding under the covers. “Wake up and smell the coffee” — as Dear Abby or Ann Landers used to say, and put our collective intelligence and creativity to work in the service of the greater good. I don’t know about you, but I have to believe that once we recognize that the old way of doing things is not sustainable, a majority of us will come together to create one that is. And that’s an exciting possibility, also suggested by planetary patterns, in spite of said challenges.
In the 90s, I opined to anyone who cared to listen, that the mantra for the first decade of the New Millenium would be “we are all connected” — and whoever figured out how to build on that (Mark Zuckerberg, anyone?) would do very well. Too bad I don’t build things; I just help people, inspire them and keep them informed. And for the past five years or so, I’ve been thinking that the mantra for this decade is this: “sustainable”. What can we build on that?
Need a song to get you inspired? I’ve got one — it’s wonderfully idealistic — written and performed by actual human beings — who can be ever so amazing when they get out of their own way.
Go out there and be amazing — on this brand new, beautiful day…
Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 10/29/2013: The Planetary Pattern Everyone Should Be Talking About
/in The ForecastOK, break time is over — as in — yesterday’s long Moon void is behind us. As of 11:45PM ET last night, Moon entered discriminating Virgo, seeking to fulfill its need for critical thinking and perfection. And this is a need that’s quite well-supported by the rest of the planets throughout the next couple of days. Add in the serious focus of today’s exact conjunction of mental Mercury and stern Saturn in ruthless, penetrating Scorpio, and you’ve got a lovely set-up for some productive purging of thought forms that no longer serve, in light of potentially super-heavy facts that should no longer be avoided. Rethink, review, reform your ideas and ambitions — with a practical focus. Whatever is on your plate now — that was also on your plate around October 9th — should be back for another look or resolution around November 26th, when Mercury and Saturn will conjoin again.
Whereas the Mercury-Saturn hook-up on October 8th was co-mingled with an idealistic, beauty-seeking alignment between Venus and Neptune, this current hook-up is supported by an extremely resourceful and energetic alignment between action hero Mars (also in discriminating, organizing Virgo) and potent Pluto in enterprising Capricorn (exact on Thursday). Way to rally the troops and focus on what is absolutely essential. This Mars-Pluto connection also facilitates physical expression — if it’s all too much for you, hit the gym or connect deeply with a partner. Just don’t hit your partner, please — even though another alignment this week suggests we’ll see still more of the concentrated outbursts of disturbing violence the “if it bleeds, it leads” media folks love to publicize — I don’t need to link this stuff — any newspaper homepage is covered with it, except for this one: the eternally sunny Good News Network.
Meanwhile, that Other Alignment –exact on Friday morning ET — is the fourth of seven exact squares between rebel Uranus in pioneering, individualistic Aries and “resistance is futile” Pluto in enterprising — and also patriarchal, corporate and institutional — Capricorn. As regular readers know, this looooooong pattern (2011-2016) suggests, as history reflects, upheavals and transformation as peasants revolt, infrastructure breaks down, entities fight to maintain power and control and we see the power of one person to disrupt an entire system (e.g. Edward Snowden, Chelsea Manning — off the top of my head). Historically, we’re seeing a repeat of major issues we saw in the mid-60s, as we are given the opportunity to advance that agenda forward (e.g. civil rights, sane and sustainable agriculture, diet and health care; greater understanding of our world via breakthroughs in physics, especially matters of time and space).
We’re also experiencing an echo of the issues we faced in the early 30s, during which we had rebel Uranus in Aries squaring Pluto in homeland security-focused Cancer. Consult your history books for a recap — or check out the website of astrologer Bill Herbst, who has written extensively about the Uranus-Pluto cycle in historical perspective. I got turned on to his site by astrologer Rockie Gardiner over a decade ago; until then I had only worked with the horoscopes of individuals in private consultations. I became determined to understand how planetary patterns can reflect events in the world, too. And now I can’t stop writing about what we’re likely to see in the headlines and why people are making headlines. I’ve been doing this for five years — and I’m telling you — no one makes news unless there are very compelling patterns active in the horoscope.
As noted in prior forecasts, this current Uranus-Pluto square is especially potent because of its relatively long duration. Usually we get three or five hits of a square; this one has SEVEN over the course of 33 months. I appreciate Bill Herbst for pointing out that the last time we had such a long square was between 1496 and 1500 (NINE hits!). Anyone remember what came out of that pattern? How about…The New World?
Your horoscope is currently affected by the Uranus-Pluto square if you were born 8-12 days into Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn…of if you have a planet or angle at 8-12 degrees of those signs. Believe me, these folks are facing many opportunities for empowerment and emancipation — the high road of Pluto and Uranus transits. As we move into 2014, we’ll see later degrees of those signs activated. Don’t believe me? Ask your Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn friends born in March, June, September and December if they’ve been — or are just wrapping up — major life-changing events.
Oh — and on Sunday, we’ll have another eclipse. This will likely be significant for Taurus, Aquarius, Leo — and especially Scorpios born 11 days into their signs — or anyone who has a planet or point at around 11 degrees of Scorpio. More on that later.
If you don’t know what’s going on in your horoscope, consider making an appointment for a personal consultation. Here’s the 411 on that — and here’s how to contact me.
Thank you for reading — and sharing — this forecast : )
Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 10/28/2013: Mind the Void
/in The ForecastAllllll-righty, then!
The Moon is in rip-roarin’ Leo, the sign that brought you all those over-the-top costumes you saw at the Halloween party you attended on Saturday. Wasn’t that fun? As of 8:26AM ET, Moon goes void-of-for just over 15 hours, not to enter the next sign — Virgo — until 11:45PM ET. What does that mean, you might wonder, especially if you are new to this forecast (welcome!).
A Moon void suggests a day that may feel like it’s going nowhere, marked by upsets, twists and delays in your efforts to move forward in a straight line. We may see a number of regal pronouncements made from a position of entitlement, that turn out to be much ado about nothing. Roll with whatever twists come your way, including flakes and space cases. For more on Moon voids and how to handle them, look here. We’ll have another void on Wednesday from 10:48PM ET until Thursday at 8:22AM ET.
A serious focus can be yours today and tomorrow, courtesy of a hook-up between mental Mercury and stern Saturn in ruthless Scorpio. You may recall we experienced this same planetary pattern on October 8th, . Remember what was posted on October 9th:
What project were you trying to organize, structure and control back then? Chances are it’s up for review, research and retooling. Another opportunity to make progress on your game plan is suggested when Mercury and Saturn hook up for a third time on November 25th.
