Monday 3/21/2022: Sneak Peek at the Week; Aries Ingress; Mercury in Focus; Mars on the March
Good morning!
Mercury is the star player this week, as it makes contact with three planets: Jupiter, Neptune and Pluto — today, Wednesday and Saturday, respectively. Thus, it’s a big week for planting seeds for a new vision — and as the weekend approaches, integrating potentially inconvenient facts dug up from underground. Our supporting actor is Tuesday’s square between Mars (action, aggression) and rebel Uranus, suggesting recklessness involving weapons, accidents, aviation, seismic and metaphorically earth-shaking actions. Upside potential: this assertive energy could be just the catalyst you need to break through a blockage or kick a bad habit. Examples of the Mars-Uranus square so far include:
- Over 1000 earthquakes in the Azores in the past 48 hours
- Passenger jet crashes into a mountain in China
- Shootout at car show in the US leaves one dead; 27 injured
- Ex-governor Eric Grietens (R-MO) and current “leading” GOP Senate candidate accused by ex-wife of physical abuse and “such ‘unstable and coercive behavior’ that steps were taken to limit his access to firearms”
- A dozen Apple services were down today.
And — lookie here: “Mercury found in skin-lightening and anti-aging creams sold online”
Here’s how the week goes — and because this forecast is being shipped in the evening, you can have Beth Owl’s Daughter’s always-in-sync Tarot Card of the Week as a companion:
- MONDAY: Moon is in Scorpio, driving the day with a need for depth, substance and control. If you woke up this morning ready for action, you picked up on the Moon’s square to Mars, followed by the opposition to Uranus, exact at 7:16 AM ET and 8:57 AM ET. Ditto if your actions were met by stubborn resistance…with a potential clash of social expression involving women and worth around noon. And here, I’m specifically thinking of the Scorpio Moon’s square to Venus at 12: 33 PM ET, and how it will be reflected in the U.S. Senate, as one half does its best to trash the eminently qualified Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson. President Biden’s nominee to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer.
- [UPDATE: as the hearings began at 11 AM ET, the Twitterverse railed against disruptive snafus in the live audio feed]. Late afternoon and evening support an easier flow of communication, as Moon trines Jupiter and Mercury at 8:08 PM ET and 10:25 PM ET…and some of the big ideas expressed are likely to reflect the inspiring potential of the Moon’s trine with Neptune, exact at 3:25 AM ET on…
- TUESDAY. Then again, with Neptune involved in the mental mix, we must be aware of the potential for magical thinking. At 12 PM ET, power and resources join forces to support the Scorpio Moon’s quest for depth and control, represented by a sextile between Pluto and Moon. Chill during the three-hour Moon void, and resist making a mountain out of a molehill of crisis. Moon shifts gears at 2:58 PM ET. soaring into Sagittarius. The next few days are driven by a need to push boundaries and be respected for righteous and influential opinions. That boundary-pushing drive is facilitated by the aforementioned Mars-Uranus square, exact at 4:44 PM ET — and we’ve already seen examples of this in recent headlines involving cars (ruled by Mars), weapons and anger, as in “Gunfire at Arkansas Car Show Leaves 1 Dead, 27 Wounded.” You are more personally affected by this provocative pattern if you have planets or angles around 12 degrees of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius. This includes Putin (Venus) and President Biden (Mars), Clarence Thomas (due for a significant life change). and Arnold Schwarzenegger (Saturn, Pluto; Russian State TV just declared war on him). With respect to the first two, just as I typed this, CNBC’s Carl Quintanilla tweeted “* RUSSIAN FOREIGN MINISTRY HAS HANDED A NOTE OF PROTEST OVER “UNACCEPTABLE” COMMENTS ABOUT PUTIN BY U.S. PRESIDENT * RUSSIA TELLS U.S. AMBASSADOR THAT TIES ON VERGE OF BEING SEVERED“. A coordinated response to whatever sudden upset occurs on Tuesday is facilitated by the Sag Moon’s easy trine to the Aries Sun, exact at 6:52 PM ET.
- WEDNESDAY: Moon sextiles Mars at 1:11 PM ET, suggesting more cooperation and coordination, so long as the directive is clear. Mercury meets up with Neptune at 1:43 PM ET, planting themes of sacrifice, surrender, music, empathy, vision, spirits of all kinds and magical thinking into the collective consciousness. Which will you choose? The evening is ripe for artistry, faith, hope and charity, as Moon sextiles Venus at 7:28 PM ET and then squares Jupiter at midnight.
- THURSDAY: Whatever vision hit the wires yesterday around 2 PM ET may be advanced this morning, as Moon squares Neptune at 6:30 AM ET (note your dreams) and then squares Mercury 8:58 AM ET (could be challenging to put your emotions into words). Moon then goes void for the rest of the business day ET. You know the Moon void protocols: roll with the twists and flakes that may disrupt efforts to move forward in a straight line; stick to routine concerns; don’t make a mountain of crisis out of a molehill. Take time to wander if you can — and CHILL! Once the Moon engages in the next sign — Capricorn — at 5:53 PM ET, it’s all systems go, as Moon in Capricorn needs to use every resource at its disposal to Make Things Happen.
- FRIDAY: Capricorn Moon squares the Aries Sun at 1:37 AM ET, possibly prompting a conflict between the Capricorn “old guard” and those crusading for the underdog. Rally the troops — along with your best friends and modern technology — to get things done today, supported by the Moon’s trine to Uranus at 3:15 PM ET. Think outside the box.
- SATURDAY: Investigative reporters may have had a banner Friday night news dump, reflecting the dirt-digging potential of the sextile between Mercury and Pluto, exact at 6:34 AM ET. Talk is deep. Go about your business, noting the potential for a catharsis or power play around 6 PM ET, as Moon meets up with Pluto and gets the word out. After an hourlong Moon void, Moon enters Aquarius at 8:55 PM ET, making tonight and the rest of the weekend a fine time for networking and hanging with your best friends. Meanwhile, what is said now is likely of paramount importance, as Mercury is now at the verrrrrrrry end of Pisces — and thus, at the Aries Point (demanding prominence). If you can’t figure out how to say it right now, words may come quickly after 3:44 AM ET on ….
- SUNDAY: …when Mercury ditches Pisces for Aries. Since Aries is a leader, often what is expressed by Mercury in Aries is way ahead of the game. Inspiring and prescient, perhaps, but sometimes out of sync. Mercury in Aries can be impulsive and impatient but — unlike Mercury in Pisces — it needs to be direct. Mercury will be in Aries until April 11th. Meanwhile, humming in the background this weekend is the streamlining realism of Monday’s exact conjunction between Venus and Saturn. This suggests ‘women of steel’ making news, along with some necessary controls involving money, worth, networks and technology. Note that Mars will be conjunct Saturn on April 4th. Taken together, the Venus-Mars conjunctions with Saturn may create boundaries out of situations in recent weeks that seemed amorphous.
Meanwhile, let’s say a few things about yesterday’s Aries Ingress, a.k.a. the first day of spring in the northern hemisphere and the first day of the astrological new year.
Here’s what you need to know about the first day of any season from an astrological point of view. The first day of each season (Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter) corresponds with the first day (or first DEGREE) of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, respectively. Got that? Good. These four signs are called CARDINAL signs of the zodiac, with “cardinal” here suggesting (from the Latin root of the word), “that on which something turns or depends.” Cardinal signs take ACTION. They INITIATE. Nothing happens without ACTION. And action leads to NECESSARY CHANGE. As in a change of seasons — suggested by solstices and equinoxes. Clear?
The first day of a season is prominent in our culture, right? We make a big deal over it — yes? In astrology, we observe that PLANETS that are at the first degree of a cardinal sign (Aries, Cancer, Libra & Capricorn), tend to pack a more powerful, prominent punch. They suggest ACTION which leads to CHANGE — prominently! The first degree of the cardinal signs is known as the ARIES POINT. Got that?
If you have a planet or angle at the Aries Point, you can expect that the energy of that planet will demand prominent expression in your life. Your friends and family — and perhaps the entire free world — will notice it. William Shatner was born with the Sun at 0 Aries. “To boldly go where no man has gone before”? I should think so — and the whole world knows him for playing that role. Prince William, Meryl Streep, Elizabeth Warren and Ted Cruz are others born with the Sun on the Aries Point — and they can’t help but stick out like a sore thumb. This is especially true of Ted Cruz, who never, ever, ever fails to make news for something obnoxious when his horoscope is triggered by any planet at the Aries Point. Here he is obnoxiously attracting the attention of law enforcement officers at an airport in Montana. Astrology is amazing.
Here is the chart for the Aries Ingress, set in Washington D.C.:
Observations:
- Like the chart for this month’s Full Moon in Virgo, this chart is bucket-shaped. The handle is represented by the Moon at the verrrrrrrry end of Libra, suggesting that the need for diplomacy, fairness and balance in relationship is 1) at a crisis point; and 2) must be involved in any effort to access the potential of this chart. Libra refers to justice — and justice certainly does seem at a crisis point, given what’s going on in our courts — and in the ongoing 1/6 investigation.
- The Moon at 29 Libra exactly opposes the 29 Aries Moon in President Biden’s inauguration chart, and the 29 Aries Moon in the chart for Britain’s exit out of the EU.
- It’s interesting that the angles of this horoscope nearly exactly correspond to the angles of VP Harris’ horoscope. Keep an eye on developments in late April.
- The Moon is in the 5th house, ruling the 2nd house. Thus, in the U.S., we are likely to experience this Aries Ingress as a crisis point in matters related to those houses, including, but not limited to: children, procreation and all forms of creative self-expression; ambassadors; money and banking systems; values and worth. We note that once the Moon leaves Libra, it enters Scorpio, where its condition likely becomes worse.
- We can develop this storyline further by noting Venus (women, money, worth, social expression, arts, diplomacy) in the 9th house (of courts, foreign affairs, publishing) caught between a rock and a hard place (i.e. between Saturn and Mars), having just been jolted awake by a square from Uranus. Venus’s only way out is to move toward Saturn, which symbolizes high-functioning structures and controls, for better or worse, including mortality.
- The upcoming square between Mars and Uranus suggests daring, innovative and/or reckless action, anger or assertion; note that Mars in Aquarius is a rebel with a cause, and in Aquarius evokes technology, networks, fringe groups and/or humanitarianism. Mars refers to heat, fires, war and courage.
- Sun in Aries in the 10th represents authority figures; Sun in Aries has an exalted status, but is not getting much support from the other players in the cosmic sandbox. Mercury, Jupiter and Neptune in the 10th suggest an expansive vision — time will tell if what is believed is for real. It’s helpful that Mercury — which rules the chart and represents the general condition of the country at present — is moving to a conjunction with a high-functioning Jupiter, which rules the 10th house.
- Pluto in the 8th house refers to breakdowns and decay in joint ventures, including financial arrangements with foreign investors.
We are living in interesting times. Thus, you must absolutely read Heather Cox Richardson’s succinct summary of the “11-point plan to rescue America” introduced by Senator Rick Scott (R-FL). The press is too focused on oil prices and (understandably) the Russian invasion of Ukraine to properly focus our attention on what the GOP plans to accomplish should they win the House and Senate in the midterms. Did you know that the newly enacted voter suppression laws in Texas resulted in 23,000 voters — 1 in 8 — having their mail-in ballots rejected?
And now, more news.
Sun-Mercury-Jupiter-Neptune in Pisces suggest big dreams, fish, oceans, music, refugees, vision, empathy, oil, and possible frauds:
- Remember the little girl who sang “Let It Go” from “Frozen” in a Ukrainian bomb shelter? Her name is Amelia Anisovych; she’s now in Poland and she performed before a ginormous crowd at a charity event.
- So many real-life fraudsters being fictionalized on the TV this year! Have you seen “Inventing Anna,” “Bad Vegan,” “The Dropout” or “Dopesick?” Last night, I planned to watch Episode 6 of “Inventing Anna,” but when I logged on to Netflix, “Servant of the People” was on the homepage. This is the Ukrainian comedy starring Volodymyr Zelenskyy as a high school history teacher who — in a twist of fate — is elected president of the country. And now, as you know, he is President of Ukraine — for real. Surreal.
Toss in Venus in Aquarius square Uranus (unconventional women; gender-benders in the news):
- “Stacey Abrams elected president — of United Earth on “Star Trek: Discovery’” Here is Abrams’ horoscope. You may have heard that she is running for governor in Georgia, backed by transiting Pluto square her high-functioning Mars in Aries. Professional reward and prominent connections with the public are facilitated all year. I wish we had a birth time.
- Lia Thomas’ victory at NCAA swimming finals sparks fierce debate over trans athletes
