Monday 7/15/2024: Late Sneak Peek at the Week; Mars in Gemini
Alllrighty then!
The Moon is in Scorpio, a sign known for cutting to the quick. Planetary patterns continue to be intense for the rest of July. This is not a game.
Highlights this week:
- Mars conjunct Uranus and Algol on Monday
- Sun sextile Uranus on Wednesday
- Mars sextile Neptune on Saturday
- Mars leaves Taurus and enters Gemini on Saturday
- Venus sextile Jupiter on Sunday
- Mercury square Uranus on Sunday
- Sun trine Neptune on Sunday
- Mars trine Pluto on Sunday
It goes like this:
- MONDAY: Moon is in Scorpio, ruthlessly consolidating knowledge for the sake of power and control. Emotions may run deep; suspicions may run high; loyalty may be rewarded. The phrase “honor among thieves” comes to mind. At 10:04 AM ET, the Mars-Uranus conjunction is exact. Avid Readers will recall that shocking actions and assertions, with themes of “losing one’s head” were likely to be grabbing our attention through the weekend, starting around Thursday/Friday. A list of some of the news makers whose horoscopes were personally activated by this highly volatile, assertive/aggressive pattern was provided. A need for depth and substance receives structure and support in the evening hours, reflecting Moon’s trine to Saturn, exact at 12:44 AM ET on…
- TUESDAY…though a struggle for control over the message to the masses may arise around 2:59 AM ET, as Mercury (how we need to think and communicate) is squared by the Moon. The path of least resistance is open in the morning, reflecting the trine between the Sun and Moon, exact at 11:04 AM ET. Initiatives in the afternoon are subject to surprise twists and heated responses as Moon opposes rebel Uranus at 2:30 PM ET and Mars at 4:05 PM ET. Be mindful if you’re in transit, or stuck in a long line. “Calgon, take me away!” or “Make mine a double” are evening coping strategies supported by Moon’s trine to Neptune at 9:10 PM ET.
- TUESDAY (CONT): After a 14-minute Moon void no one will notice, Moon soars into Sagittarius. Now is the time to take a gambol or a gamble, and get out of whatever confined space you’re in. Moon in Sagittarius suggests enthusiasm for high-flying beliefs and possibilities. Someone born with Moon in Sagittarius needs to be respected for their righteous opinion (which may have nothing to do with established facts). Moon sextiles Pluto at 11:19 PM ET, adding depth and power to the evening debate.
- WEDNESDAY: Morning and afternoon may flow easily, as Moon trines Venus at 11:07 AM ET. Pie-in-the-sky opinions are pushed even higher, perhaps, as Moon opposes Jupiter in Gemini at 7:20 PM ET. Note what’s being sold around this time; buying it may later be regretted.
- THURSDAY: After Moon’s expansive opposition to Jupiter, comes the reality check of Moon’s square to Saturn, exact at 8:49 AM ET. A streamlining or other cut is possible, especially if the cutting is by an authority figure with a ambitious reach. That being said, we have strong potential for a coalition of factions to unite behind a common cause (which could have materialized earlier in the week). At 10 AM ET, Sun sextiles Uranus. Translation: innovation and cooperation among leaders of business and state; possible advances in technology, aviation, outer space, and power resources. Moon’s trine to Mercury at 4:23 PM ET gets the word out, with ease and regal flair.
- FRIDAY: Note your dreams upon waking, as Moon squares Neptune at 3:58 AM ET. You won’t notice the 15-minute Moon void. At 4:13 AM ET, Moon enters Capricorn, ready to Make Things Happen. Moon travels with no interference throughout the day, possibly deploying the pixie dust of a cooperative pattern (sextile) between Mars and Neptune, exact at 11:17 AM ET on ….
- SATURDAY:…as a means of achieving its Establishment agenda. Mars (action, assertion, aggression) and Neptune (fog, faith, scandal, martyrs, healers, victims) are at the verrrrrrry end of Taurus and Pisces. Translation: a sense of urgency about establishing material comfort and security, perhaps by putting something on a pedestal or making it disappear. This pixie dust may be delightfully charming or dangerously seductive. Who was that person you met at bar during Friday’s Happy Hour, hmm? A sextile between Moon and Saturn at 1:15 PM ET offers a sense of stability — even if the destination is currently unclear. At 4:43 PM ET, Mars finally leaves Taurus, where it won’t be seen again until the summer of 2026. Next stop: Gemini!
A pause, while we discuss Mars in Gemini, which we last experienced for seven months, starting in August 2022. That’s a long time for Mars to be in one sign, but it can happen when Mars goes retrograde, which is did.
Mars in Gemini is the proud sponsor of “the pen is mightier than the sword,” and “walk your talk.” The good news is that Mars functions more effectively in Gemini than in Taurus – so we can expect things to move faster. Roadblocks may be released – and we see the potential for multitasking and double-talking to a fault.
Gemini is a natural-born communicator and salesperson. With Mars in Gemini, we can expect notable action and assertion in communication and sales. Here’s an example: Mars refers to war; Gemini refers to words. Mars in Gemini increases the potential of a war of words – or perhaps even a war on words.
Whereas a planet in Taurus needs to preserve the status quo, Gemini is open to options. When Mars joins forces with Jupiter, we may see a further fracturing of what has already been fractured. Staying focused on the Big Picture is the challenge.
Mars will be in Gemini until September 5th. I am keeping an eye on the week of August 19th. Why?
- 1) Mars in contact with the Mars-Neptune square in the U.S. horoscope. This pattern reflects the part of the U.S psyche that idealizes cowboys, guns, oil, cars, and pharmaceuticals. Mars square Neptune is reflected in our Hollywood dream factories and and our belief in the American Dream. When Mars engages with the U.S. Mars-Neptune square, we are likely action and assertion along its themes.
- 2) Jupiter will square Saturn. This square represents a need for adjustment in projects that were seeded around December 21, 2020 — when Jupiter and Saturn were conjunct. Think of a conjunction as being similar to the energy of a New Moon. The Jupiter-Saturn square is similar to the energy of a First Quarter Moon, and there will be three of them: on August 19, December 24 and June 15, 2025. This tension has quite a different feel than the Jupiter-Saturn sextile we had in 2023 — here’s a link to a post from June 2023 explaining how that was experienced.
Back to the daily forecast…
- SUNDAY: Moon trines Uranus at 1:52 AM ET, supporting an innovative approach to minding your own business. This is the set-up for the Full Moon in Capricorn, exact at 6:17 AM ET. I’ll post a chart later this week. If your dreams are more active than usual, I won’t be surprised. At 7:42 AM ET, Moon enters Aquarius, seeking to be of unique social significance. High energy continues through the morning, reflecting a trine to Mars and a meet-up with Pluto at 8:28 AM ET and 9:14 AM ET, respectively.
- SUNDAY (CONT.): Meanwhile, there are four other exact planetary patterns today — all of which have likely been reflected in the headlines over the past few days. First, Venus sextiles Jupiter at 4:43 PM ET. and it’s usually a lovely day when these two benefic planets are in an easy alignment. Second, a flash of insight — or a tech advance that could be sublime or surreal — accompanies the square between Mercury and Uranus, exact at 6:20 PM ET. Everyone who was affected by the Mars-Uranus-Algol conjunction is personally affected by this square; watch for them to make news. Meanwhile, Sun trines Neptune at 11:25 PM ET — suggesting themes of saviors, vision, healing, ideals, especially among leaders. Sun is at the verrry end of Cancer, so there is an urgency in matters of emotional, family and homeland security. Minutes later, we have Mars trine Pluto, so there is an easy application of force — either in words (because Mars is now in Gemini) or action (because Mars is still Mars). That happens at 11:47 PM ET…and it sets us up for Monday’s ingress of the Sun into Leo, the sign it rules.
Fun fact: I wrote, “Calgon, take me away!” in Tuesday’s forecast before reading about Beth Owl’s Daughter’s always-in-sync Tarot Card of the Week.
Meanwhile, astrology is batting 1.000.
On June 26th, we looked at what we know of Aileen Cannon’s horoscope:
“[it] suggests a stubborn application of assertive energy, and yes, potential recklessness. Like the man who appointed her, transiting Uranus will be activating her Mars (on July 3rd), and transiting Mars will follow suit the week after Bastille Day. Could be exciting.”
“Exciting” was, I confess, a bit snarky. “Reckless, rash, disruptive, earth-shattering, rebellious, shocking” would have been more suitable for what this aptly-named loose Cannon did at 10:03 AM ET, one minute before the exact meet-up of Mars (action), Uranus (disruption) and the fixed star Algol.
Taking her cue from Clarence Thomas, Cannon said Special Prosecutor Jack Smith’s appointment was unconstitutional. Heather Cox Richardson has all the details, especially if you’ve forgotten what the case is about.
This is not a game.
I’ll be back at my computer after I’ve gotten some sleep, so please stay tuned.
