Monday 6/24/2024: Sneak Peek at the Week: People in the News, as Anticipated; Saturn & Neptune Blow Their Horns
Allrighty then!
I started writing this forecast on Saturday, as follows:
Here’s to the end of a Neptune-dominated work week and its potentials ranging from the sublime to the surreal to the simply scandalous. It began with Mercury and Venus square Neptune, followed by the Sun on THURSDAY. After a square to Neptune at 6:58 PM ET on FRIDAY, the Sagittarius Moon shifted into Capricorn, waxing to fullness at 9:07 PM ET. Details about that lunation are in the last forecast, ICYMI.
This was the first of two consecutive Full Moons in Capricorn; we’ll have another one at the very end of Capricorn on July 21st. Thus over the next two months we may expect plenty of illumination and release in matters of hierarchies, patriarchies, government and corporate structures and figures of The Establishment. The June “Strawberry Moon” was exceptional, thanks to it being out-of-bounds to the max (in terms of its declination, explained in this linked article). Photos of this major lunar standstill, not seen since 2006, are here. If you missed it, there will be another one in 2025.
Inspired by Neptune-dominated patterns, I could not have picked a more perfect Full Moon in Capricorn Manhattan adventure than I am the utterance of my name: divining Mary Magdalene. Film, music, dance and meditations on the ideals, myths and lies about Mary Magdalene (one of the world’s most famous women), aptly reflected Neptune at the verrrry end of Pisces, at the prominent Aries Point. Kudos to the whole creative team, especially playwright/director Sylvia Milo. If you see the show on a hot summer night, Morganstern’s ice cream shop is within easy walking distance. Oh, sweet Neptune escape!
OK — on with the show for THIS week:
- Mercury trines Saturn on Wednesday
- Venus sextiles Mars on Saturday
- Mercury sextiles Uranus on Saturday
- Saturn goes retrograde on Saturday
It goes like this:
- MONDAY: Moon in Aquarius drives the start of the work week with a need to network, network, network — intensely and expansively, perhaps, reflecting Moon’s conjunction to Pluto at 1:50 AM ET and Moon’s trine to Jupiter at 10:51 AM ET. If you have information to share, go for it – though note the potential for conflict or stubborn push — forward or backwards — around 6:58 PM ET, when Moon squares Mars.
- MONDAY: humming in the background all week are TWO planets slowing to a virtual standstill from our perspective on Spaceship Earth. Saturn — a.k.a., the “architecture of advance” (to quote astrologer Noel Tyl) will turn retrograde on Saturday, prompting a four and a half month review and delay of projects we would prefer to be marching forward. Neptune — which often reflects a rose-colored fog or dissolving of forms and boundaries — turns retrograde on July 2nd (next Tuesday). This may spark a review of what we envision, and we are encouraged to look within for inspiration, as opposed to relying on outside sources. We will be processing themes of real vs. unreal all next week, as planets preparing to change direction are like the sound of a blaring car horn, demanding focus on matters they represent.
- MONDAY: Meanwhile, Moon travels without interference for the next 24 hours until…
- TUESDAY…at 6:29 PM ET, when — surprise! — Moon squares rebel Uranus. Whatever disruption of the status quo hits the wires, try not to lose your head during the ensuing 7 1/2 hour Moon void. Take advantage of this time to chill, chill, chill — and don’t make a mountain out of a molehill. Roll with the twists and flakes (including no-shows at scheduled events). Avoid making major purchases, as actions initiated during these cosmic breaks have a way of not working out as planned.
- WEDNESDAY: Moon enters Pisces at 2:07 AM ET. The need to understand ideals, work with impressions and other intangibles (including empathy) is supported by harmony (a trine) with the emotional security-building Cancer Sun, exact at 11:25 AM ET. Note that Venus (women, money, social expression, aesthetics) is also in Cancer, and at 12:07 PM ET, Venus finds itself between a rock and a hard place at it squares the North and South Node (a.k.a. “The Bendings” in traditional astrology). At 2:07 PM ET, Mercury (how we need to think) in Cancer (intuitively, silently and/or based more on emotion than logic) trines Saturn (authority, controls) in Pisces, possibly putting limits or a reality check on empathy. Consider these patterns as the Supreme Court issues rulings in what may be its last week until fall, as lawyer/SCOTUS observer Joyce Vance explains. Expansion and exuberance — for better or for worse — accompany whatever measured news hits the wires, as Moon squares Jupiter at 2:26 PM ET. A lovely flow of feeling graces the evening, as Moon trines Venus at 10:33 PM ET and sextiles Mars at 12:26 AM ET on…
- THURSDAY. And then…a thud, a block, a lead weight or a focused authoritative advance starts the day, as the Pisces Moon meets up with Saturn at 10:57 AM ET. Is that you, SCOTUS? Could be. There’s plenty to talk about in matters of nurturing, surrender, and empathy, reflecting the Moon’s trine to Mercury at 2:11 PM ET. Innovation and a humanitarian outlook may be yours in the evening, as Moon sextiles Uranus at 9:22 PM ET.
- FRIDAY: Note your dreams. Moon meets up with Neptune at 4:44 AM ET. Did whatever happened last night get lost in translation? Yes, I’m referring to the debate between President Biden and convicted felon/adjudicated rapist Donald John Trump. Whatever the spin, the Moon takes it and runs with it at 4:51 AM ET, as it charges into Aries — a.k.a. “Ready! Fire! Aim!” (says astrologer Rick Levine). Is today the day the Supreme Court gives us their opinion on whether a U.S. president is above the law? The boldly-go-where-no-one-has-gone-before Aries Moon is sextile Pluto at 7:17 AM ET, grooving on a possible power trip. Meanwhile, Mercury is at 23 Cancer, right on convicted felon/adjudicated rapist Donald John Trump’s Saturn. It would make sense that he’d receive news about authority, limits, and possible karma. Plus, Mercury is squaring Chiron (in Aries), the Wounded Healer...so….Chiron is therefore squaring CF/AR DJT’s Saturn. Translation: wounds involving authority and controls, perhaps, up for healing (we can only hope). Not only that, Mercury is one day away from a square to Eris, the celestial body symbolizing a demand for a place at the table, even if it means burning down the house. Watch for this in the headlines — and refer to events that happened when Mercury was conjunct Eris, which just happened to be March 26, the day after the lunar eclipse. Here’s what was in the news then.
- FRIDAY: At 5:53 PM ET, Moon squares Sun, requiring adjustments to whatever illumination was gained on last week’s Full Moon. You are more personally affected by the energizing potential of the Third Quarter Moon if you have planets around 8 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. That includes Hunter Biden and Chief Justice John Roberts (the latter’s horoscope is also activated by transiting Mercury, Eris, and Chiron to his natal Jupiter-Uranus conjunction, not to mention transiting Uranus shaking up the extremes in which he needs to think about preserving status quo in the material world, a.k.a. transiting Uranus squaring his natal Mercury-Pluto opposition). If your horoscope is not personally affected by the Third Quarter Moon, you may enjoy the good cheer and entertainment reflected by Moon’s sextile to Jupiter at 6:02 PM ET. Plus, Venus (women/yin, money, arts, social expression) and Mars (men/yang, action, desire, aggression) are in a rare sextile (harmonious alignment), so perhaps we may see an equally rare accord in the mundane and in your own personal world. The Venus-Mars sextile is exact at 12:49 AM ET on…
- SATURDAY: …how might it spice up your love life? Further indulgence for the lucky ones may grace the morning, as Moon squares Venus at 6:16 AM ET. Meanwhile, at 3:06 PM ET, Saturn goes retrograde, likely putting a damper, structural review or full stop on plans for expansion…at least until the Full Moon of November 15th, when Saturn will once again be direct (and very much in focus on that date!). Those who are likely to feel it the most were born in the middle of Pisces, Sagittarius, Gemini and Virgo…or who have a planet or angle from 12-20 degrees of those signs. President Biden is the poster child, as Saturn is right at the bottom of his horoscope. Dr Jill Biden’s horoscope is also affected. Whatever may have been amorphous, visionary, or foggy in 2020 (when Neptune was at 19 Pisces), must now become streamlined, structured, and very, very, real. The Sabian Symbol for Saturn’s station is “a table set for an evening meal,” suggesting a measure of reward.
- SATURDAY: These past few days may reflect innovative and surprisingly cooperative thoughts and communication, even among those who are likely to be using information and communication to burn the place down, as noted in Friday’s forecast. Mercury sextiles Uranus at 10:19 PM ET. Keep an eye on tech stocks. and watch for potential glitches around 12:56 AM ET on…
- SUNDAY…when the me-me-me-in-a-hurry Moon in Aries squares Mercury in emotionally sensitive Cancer. Chill, chill, CHILL during the seven-hour Moon void. At 8 AM ET, Moon enters Taurus, determined to establish a sense of support and calm. Its mission is empowered by a square to Pluto at 10:23 AM ET. For those who are grabbing yard sale bargains, there is no Moon void to discourage a Moon-in-Taurus need to find security in material possessions.
Here is Beth Owl’s Daughter’s always-in-sync Tarot Card of the Week.
And now, the news.
First, a few headlines from earlier this month, reflecting the severe controls suggested by Saturn (control) as it squared Venus (women, values), Mercury (mindset), and the Sun (leaders):
- “Senate Republicans block bill that establishes right to IVF across the nation”
- “Senate Republicans block bill to protect access to contraception“
- “Supreme Court rejects challenge to abortion pill mifepristone” — ruling that the parties suing to block the drug did not have legal standing to do so. No, that is not cause for celebration. Access to the drug is preserved…for now…but that could change if a suit is brought by another party.
Last week it was Neptune following in Saturn’s footsteps:
- It’s baaaaaaack!! And Neptune is activated — go figure. “Mysterious shiny monolith spotted for first time since 2020 in the Nevada desert”
- And just a few days later, the monolith was taken down…unlike others that simply vanished.
- “More than 1000 hajj pilgrims die amid temperatures approaching 125 degrees Fahrenheit” — Neptune refers to spiritual pursuits, wipe-outs, and displaced persons. and the wipe-out is now over 1300.
- “Deluge of ‘pink slime’ websites threaten to drown out truth with fake news in US election” –– Neptune refers to deluges and floods; pink slime, drowning, and things that are fake
- “Donald Sutherland, ‘shape-shifty’ movie stalwart, dies at 88” — “shape-shifty” is a Neptune word
- Scandal in Vermont! “Lawmaker releases spycam video of rival dumping water in his bag”
- “Attorney General Letitia James recovers $50 million from crypto firm Gemini for defrauded investors” Guess who owns Gemini? The Winklevoss Twins, who attended Harvard with Mark Zuckerberg and later sued Zuck in a dispute about Facebook. The twins also made news for donating $2 million in cryptocurrency to convicted felon and adjudicated rapist Donald John Trump’s campaign (though it’s now reported that the money was returned for being over legal limit). We are likely to be hearing more from Twins Winklevoss over the next couple of years, as transiting Uranus activates their Sun-Uranus squares. They’ll be making news for innovation, risks, and potentially ruthless maverick maneuvers (with ruthlessness reflecting their Mars-Pluto square).
- “Miami is entering a state of unreality” — paywalled article for subscribers of The Atlantic who want to read more about the floods which are only going to get worse.
Meanwhile, there were a number of people with planets at the Aries Point who were in the news, just as we anticipated they would. Astrology. Is. Amazing!
In no particular order:
- “These 1941 historic Ted Cruz emails show how Washington works” — a Washington Post investigation. Cruz has Sun at 0 Capricorn square Pluto at 29 Virgo — at the Aries Point.
- “Video of Prince William dancing at Taylor Swift concert goes viral” — William has Sun at 0 Cancer
- “Liz Cheney taunts Trump with Taylor Swift video” — Cheney has Moon at 29 Sagittarius square Saturn at 29 Pisces — the Aries Point.
- Taylor Swift’s Moon is 1 Cancer, and her horoscope is functioning as anticipated months and months ago — with continuing surprises, such as “Travis Kelce Joins Taylor Swift on Stage for Surprise ‘Eras Tour’ Appearance and Literally Sweeps Her Off Her Feet”
- “My father the superhero” by Alexei Navalny’s daughter, Dasha, who made news with this essay and her recent graduation from Stanford. Meanwhile, Yulia (Navalny’s widow) met with Justin Trudeau in Ottawa last week. The horoscope lives forever.
- “Clarence Thomas, the Gordon Gekko of the Supreme Court” is one of many pieces written about Thomas lately, who has three planets Cancer at the Aries Point, plus transiting Pluto sitting on his Aquarius Moon, forcing an extreme manifestation of emotional zeal. The activated Cancer planets are illuminating just how badly he needs needs needs to feel secure in his home, and how blinded by his own light he may be. We continue to learn more about the gifts (some might call them bribes) he’s received from people like Nazi memorabilia collector and super-rich person Harlow Crow, to the tune of $4 million dollars. Last week he wrote the majority opinion which made bump stocks legal again — aptly reflecting transiting opposing his Virgo Mars. Now, with transiting Mars about to square his Midheaven, I expect further provocative actions from him before the week is out.
- The other SCOTUS justice who refuses to recuse himself from cases involving the January 6 attempted coup (even though it’s now clear that he and Thomas were rooting for it) is Samuel Alito. His Ascendant is 1 degrees of Capricorn, opposed by Uranus at 1 Cancer. Last week he made news for being mysteriously absent from work two days in a row. Let’s see how his disappearing act has progressed in May 2025, when transiting Neptune will begin a series of exact squares to those Aries Point planets.
Further thoughts on Neptune:
It’s exact position now is 29 degrees, 54 minutes of Pisces — just six minutes of arc away from officially being in ARIES. When Neptune turns retrograde at 6:40 AM ET on July 2, it will be at 29 degrees, 56 minutes of Pisces…sooooo close to 0 degrees of Aries. What does this mean? To me, this sooooooo close-to-Aries placement of Neptune is being reflected in stories with both Pisces and Aries keywords. The bump stock ruling seems half Neptune in Pisces (surreal), half Neptune in Aries (twisted analysis of what is and what is not a machine gun).
Meanwhile, the cover story of yesterday’s NYT Sunday Magazine is about the “suicide crisis among U.S. soldiers in peacetime.” Suicide — a wipe-out of the self — is a Pisces keyword. Soldier is an Aries keyword. In this particular story we also see Saturn’s journey through Pisces manifesting as anticipated, with increased awareness of the need to seriously address mental health issues. Other predictions for Saturn in Pisces are here.
Neptune is now about where it was in the summer of 1860, and again in April and November of 1861. Lincoln was elected in November 1860, and before he took office in March of 1861, states in the South began seceding. The shots fired in April at Fort Sumter in South Carolina marked the official beginning of the Civil War.
In 1860, the U.S. was also experiencing its first Uranus Return, so we’d expect themes of freedom and rebellion. We’re due for another Uranus Return starting in 2027, but this year we’ll have the first of a series of squares to the U.S. Moon at 27 Aquarius. This suggests similar themes of freedom and rebellion, with possible conflict arising from the U.S. Aquarius Moon’s intense need for unique social significance within the group. The U.S. motto, E pluribus unum (out of many, one) is apropos.
Here’s a timeline of events in U.S. history, starting in 1860.
Here is John Oliver on Last Week Tonight, explaining what’s in Project 2025, the 920-page operating manual developed by the Heritage Foundation. It’s a very different game plan than the one President Biden is following. Are we seeing a repeat of opposing values in the extreme, similar to the conflict between slaveholder states and free states in the 1860s? What do you think?
