THE
I am a reporter with a unique beat. I use my understanding of planetary cycles to provide advance notice and analysis on the Zeitgeist of the day. If you have ever wondered “why is this happening now,” my insights will transform your experience of the headlines, adding new meaning and understanding. Call it Astrology for News Junkies. If you’re curious to know why the Impossible Burger is trending…or why the outcome of the 2019 Israeli elections was likely to be a shocker …or why “Woodrow Wilson, Stud Muffin” was a New York Times headline in December 2013, you will find it here, in over a decade’s worth of historical research and reporting.
Note that I do use astrological jargon in The Forecast in my effort to show how the planetary patterns are reflected in mundane events. I explain what the jargon symbolizes, so that all who want to understand the connections between astrology and the news may do so. However, I do not use astrological jargon in personal consultations, just plain English.
Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 9/9/2010
/in The ForecastToday’s Moon in cerebral, relationship-oriented Libra spends the morning being buffeted by the planets involved in the ongoing Big T-Square Party (see forecast for July 27 for details on this powerful planetary pattern that mirrors the current upheavals and/or transformation happening now on Earth). This potential burst of emotional intensity and/or proactivity has been happening about once a week — every time the Moon moves into the signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn — for a few months now. The last day this happened was Friday — and I do recall seeing several posts on facebook that day of people reporting an uptick in intensity.
An easy connection between Mars (action) and Neptune (escape) will likely soften the above mix for most of us, inspiring daydreams and soulful acts of charity — and empowering those who rely on charisma to make their pitch. We may see this reflected in the headlines, along with a possible flipside of Mars-Neptune connections: fanaticism, as in that Florida resident who’s hosting a book-burning on Saturday of a certain text he apparently does not like.
Meanwhile, Jupiter moved back into Pisces around 1AM NY, where it will stay for the rest of the year. This will likely take the edge of big, pioneering plans that cropped up over the summer — but don’t worry, they’ll be back with a vengeance early next year. Until then, we’ll be given plenty of opportunities to empathize, empathize, empathize.
Special note to those born March 18th – 19th: September 18th could be your lucky day, thanks to Uranus and Jupiter hooking up with your Pisces Sun. Let me know what happens a few days before and after.
Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 9/8/2010
/in The ForecastRecall that last month’s New Moon was in Leo and the suggestion was to focus on authentic creative self-expression. This month’s New Moon happens today at 6:30AM NY/3:30 AM LA at 15 degrees of Virgo. Keywords for Virgo include: perfection, discernment, work, service, analysis. Whom or what does your creative self-expression serve? How does it work?
Virgo also rules the digestive tract, where it keeps busy instinctively separating the wheat from the chaff. It keeps elements that provide nourishment and eliminates those which do not. Some digestive systems work more efficiently than others, depending on what they are given to process. What is your process? Is it efficient?
Virgo, an Earth sign, is ruled by airy, mental Mercury…but I suspect that’s only because the true ruler of Virgo has yet to make an appearance. What does a planet that’s airy and mental have to do with “gut instinct”, which sounds so earthy and primal? That was my question when reading about the Sabian Symbol for this Virgo New Moon: “In the zoo, children are brought face to face with an orangutan”. Astrologer Blain Bovee helpfully tells us in his book on Sabian Symbols that “orangutan” means “wild man”, and that one of the origins of the word “orange” is “aur”, which means “gold”. Hmmm….this “wild man” that likely runs on “gut instinct” just might be a treasure…
This month, when faced with goals and other challenges, consider going with your gut. Let it lead to you to work and service that nourishes you….and gives you hints about what needs to be eliminated that’s interfering with your process. Your gut already knows what to do…imagine that!
In other news, today loving Venus moves into Scorpio. Let’s manifest depth and passion in our relationships, instead of the shrewish alternative, “If I be waspish, best beware my sting”. : )
Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 9/7/2010
/in The ForecastBack to work? Maybe, maybe not. The long weekend may be over in the US, but the Moon, even though it’s in analytical, task-oriented, perfection-driven Virgo, is still in the last day of the old cycle, working a bit like a lame duck elected official; the New Moon begins tomorrow at 6:30AM on the East Coast. During these “dead” moons, we might feel listless: a new cycle is about to begin but we may feel “in the dark” about what it is. If you’re at the office, use the day to wrap up old business and clear your desks in preparation for the new agenda that begins tomorrow.
General notes on this short week, which is chock-full of energetic shifts as several planets will change signs (Venus on Wednesday; Jupiter on Thursday) or direction (Mercury on Sunday; Pluto next Tuesday): stay loose and be patient with yourself and others if you’re finding you have to repeat yourself several times to be understood or you realize that once again, you can’t remember where you put your (glasses/water bottle/parking ticket).
Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 9/3/2010 and the Weekend
/in The ForecastRead yesterday’s forecast for thoughts on today’s Moon in Cancer. A need for emotional security is the prime directive for the Moon in this sign, so on this holiday weekend (Monday is a holiday in the US) the focus is likely to be what makes us feel comfortable and/or at home. Art, music, romance, spirit — all that makes life beautiful is also especially favored.
On Sunday, Moon enters playful Leo at 5:45AM and carries us through Labor Day. Playing on Labor Day — what a great idea. We’re in the dark side of the Moon — the New Moon happens on Wednesday AM, which is when the work week will really begin.
Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 9/2/2010
/in The ForecastToday’s Moon — still in Gemini — makes lovely connections to Mars (action), Venus (social expression) and Neptune (imagination). It’s a good day to put yourself out there and see the best in people. Meetings and social gatherings of all kinds are favored…especially those involved with art, music, spirituality and/or service.
A postscript to yesterday’s post about those born with Moon in Gemini: they like words. A lot. Perhaps this explains why President Obama had all those words stitched into the border of the new rug in the Oval Office…
At 2:50AM Friday the Moon will move into watery Cancer, buffeted through the morning by the heavies in the Big T-Square Party (see forecast for 7/27/2010). Could be wet and wild, especially if you’re a hurricane about to hit land, which is a possibility here on the East Coast as we keep an eye on Hurricane Earl. Then again, what if everyone on the planet visualized that storm system moving off the coast and doing no damage at all? Think we could collectively create that reality?
