THE
I am a reporter with a unique beat. I use my understanding of planetary cycles to provide advance notice and analysis on the Zeitgeist of the day. If you have ever wondered “why is this happening now,” my insights will transform your experience of the headlines, adding new meaning and understanding. Call it Astrology for News Junkies. If you’re curious to know why the Impossible Burger is trending…or why the outcome of the 2019 Israeli elections was likely to be a shocker …or why “Woodrow Wilson, Stud Muffin” was a New York Times headline in December 2013, you will find it here, in over a decade’s worth of historical research and reporting.
Note that I do use astrological jargon in The Forecast in my effort to show how the planetary patterns are reflected in mundane events. I explain what the jargon symbolizes, so that all who want to understand the connections between astrology and the news may do so. However, I do not use astrological jargon in personal consultations, just plain English.

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 4/5/2012: Everything’s Coming Up Roses
/in The ForecastMoon will be void of course from 1:37AM – 11:32 AM ET, suggesting a slow start or twist to your morning routine, augmented by the dreamy charm and/or fantasy of the square between nebulous Neptune and loving Venus, exact at 9:51 PM ET. Is that why there’s a piece called “Living Like a Billionaire, if Only for a Day” on the front page of the New York Times? http://dealbook.nytimes.com/2012/04/04/living-like-a-billionaire-if-only-for-a-day/?hp
Add the Moon in people-pleasing Libra (as of 11:32 AM ET) to the mix and….oooh…that could make for Some Enchanted Evening, ripe with potential for enjoying the arts, music, romance or some other rarefied escape. As for meeting a stranger across a crowded room…hey, it could happen, given weird, wacky Uranus in Aries challenging the Libra Moon at 7:54PM ET. If not a stranger, then some kind of jolt, surprise or sudden revelation. And now that I think about it…a certain sexual tension may seek release on Saturday, with aggressive Mars squaring receptive Venus at 7:37PM on Saturday. And not only that, we’ll have the release and illumination suggested by the Full Moon, too — exact Friday at 3:19PM ET. Who’s going out for cocktails?
Meanwhile, I hope you’re being patient with any mishegosh mental Mercury turning direct has thrown your way. Certainly you’re dealing with travel delays if your flight through Dallas has been disrupted by Tuesday’s tornadoes. I’m hearing reports of other scheduling snafus, too. And I’m sure I’ve misspelled “mishegosh”.
Plan your escape. It’s almost Friday!
Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 4/4/2012: Mercury Turns Direct
/in The ForecastMercury turns at direct at 23 degrees of Pisces as of 6:11AM ET, suggesting that great ideas that were put on hold may once again move forward. But don’t rush to sign on the dotted line until you’ve carefully reviewed that proposal on your desk. So often, when Mercury (mind, communication and travel), moves forward, we find that what we thought were solid concepts have more than a few holes. What was that mantra you were given a few days ago? Focus, focus, focus and patience, patience, patience — especially with the details. Give yourself until the 23rd to get your brain fully up to speed.
The day itself may be defined by the Moon in Virgo’s need for perfection, especially the perfection of a (romantic) ideal – or perfect organization. Check out yesterday’s notes on nebulous Neptune’s challenge to loving Venus, which will be exact on Thursday, as we are under the influence of this rose-colored pattern right now. Here’s to rarefied art, matters of spirits and other dreams that may be too good to be true, but delicious and delectable while they last.
Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 4/3/2012: Que Sera Sera
/in The ForecastIt’s Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012 and that means it is actress/singer Doris Day’s 88th birthday. Here is Doris Day singing Que Sera Sera from Hitchcock’s classic film The Man Who Knew Too Much. Happy birthday, Miss Day! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZbKHDPPrrc&feature=fvsr
Que Sera Sera would be a terrible signature song for an astrologer.
An indulgent connection between loving Venus in sensual Taurus and the “oh just adore me, why don’t you” Leo Moon could get your day off to a jolly good start. It might also be a suggestion of wretched excess, picking up where a potentially expansive aspect left off yesterday (as I type, the markets are reportedly up in Asia. For now). Wretched excess revealed, eh? Like the big fat trip to Vegas on taxpayer dollars that just caused a number of heads to roll at the General Services Administration http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/03/us/politics/general-services-administration-chief-resigns.html?_r=1&hp ?
And speaking of excess, maybe we’ll learn for sure who won the Mega Millions jackpot that was held on Friday, under the auspices of a sensational, fanatical opposition between Mars and Neptune. When these two planets get together it’s a dazzling mix. Just ask Bill Clinton and Newt Gingrich, who have this cocktail in their horoscopes.
Moon moves into discriminating Virgo at 9:53AM ET, and could immediately launch a clean-up effort to put everything right, though it may get side-tracked by an unattainable dream around lunchtime ET, thanks to — hello — nebulous Neptune rolling in like so much fog. What passion for perfection — or perfect organization could result in a critical (Virgo!) outburst around 5:16PM ET, hmmm? Depth and perspective are favored later that night, when incisive Pluto facilitates emotional release.
But wait, there’s more: loving Venus leaves earthbound Taurus for airy Gemini at 11:18AM ET, suggesting glib communication and wordplay will be back in vogue — or downright seductive — over the next few weeks. Who will whisper sweet nothings in your ear? With Venus also under the influence of nebulous Neptune (an exact square happens Thursday at 9:51PM ET), watch for troubadours, gurus, Romeos, refined artists and others wearing rose-colored glasses. If you’re an artist, healer, saint or other inspirational type, may these next few days find you especially creative.
One intriguing headline reflecting not only the fantasy-driven surrender/fanaticism suggested by nebulous Neptune opposing macho Mars is Sunday’s op-ed by Maureen Dowd, reporting on the erotic novel that’s all the rage among the double-X chromosome set. It’s clearly been spiked by that “resistance is futile” power play suggested by ruthless Pluto’s challenge to the Sun on Thursday.http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/01/opinion/sunday/dowd-shes-fit-to-be-tied.html?partner=rssnyt&emc=rss Add Pluto in Capricorn — the PTB — challenging Uranus in Aries — freedom of the individual — to this lurid headline, also about a power play. Yesterday the Supreme Court ruled that there are apparently no limits whatsoever on strip searches of persons who are arrested and held in police custody http://loyalopposition.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/04/02/the-right-to-strip/ Meanwhile, in the UK, Big Brother is definitely watching…and listening, too: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/03/world/europe/british-government-eavesdropping-plans-draw-protest.html?hp Stay tuned for more on this developing story as the year progresses…
Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 4/2/2012: A Brief Two-Week Overview
/in The ForecastEast Coasters will be waking up in the afterglow of an expansive and indulgent connection between jolly Jupiter and the Moon in prideful, playful Leo…and that sets the tone for the entire day for everyone else, too.
There are no other exact planetary aspects for the rest of the day, so things may feel a little slow, but frankly, moving slowly is appropriate with both Mars (action) and Mercury (communication, mind) retrograde. Speaking of Mercury retrograde, the planet associated with all those scheduling and communication snafus we’ve been seeing in recent weeks turns DIRECT in motion at 6:11AM Wednesday. We’ll spend the rest of the week untangling whatever gets tangled and amplified by the Full Moon on Friday at 3:19PM ET.
Overall, there’s a push-pull, stop-and-go feel likely in store for this week and next, as ruthless Pluto turns retrograde on the 10th and action-oriented Mars turns direct on the 13th. So just remember these mantras: patience, patience, patience and focus, focus, focus..until we all get back into a regular groove. Everything is going to be just fine!
The only Moon void that could contribute to the twists and tangles of your work week is on Thursday from 1:37AM to 11:32AM ET. West Coasters probably won’t even notice it.
Happy April!
Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 3/30/2012 & The Weekend: Chance of Thunderstorms, Followed by Sunshine
/in The ForecastA day driven by a need for emotional and home(land) security, suggested by Moon in watery Cancer (which, btw, is Moon’s natural home). How might this need be challenged or charged, given the surprise/jolt/revelation suggested in the early morning hours (East Coast time), followed by the intensity of ruthless Pluto at 1:47PM ET? Whatever it is may be linked to your New Moon agenda and tension of the First Quarter Moon at 3:41 PM ET. Let it all go after hours and enjoy the comforts and jocularity suggested by an easy connection between Moon and Jupiter at 8:41 PM.
Staying close to home, dining in, chatting with Mom or a close female friend — or maybe a home improvement project are fine choices for Saturday, as the Cancer vibe continues. You can shop until you drop without worrying about a Moon void to disappoint you and you’re not likely to overspend.
On Sunday, the Moon’s ingress into Leo suggests a giant meteor smashing into Earth, meaning you’ll never have to worry about your health insurance plan again. April Fools’! But seriously folks, Moon in Leo offers a fine day for playful drama (or just plain drama), and we may see some especially inventive April Fools’ Day pranks, given that innovative Uranus wants to get into the act. If you’re out and about, you’re likely to meet some folks from the fringe…and that can be a fun thing indeed.
