I am a reporter with a unique beat. I use my understanding of planetary cycles to provide advance notice and analysis on the Zeitgeist of the day. If you have ever wondered “why is this happening now,” my insights will transform your experience of the headlines, adding new meaning and understanding. Call it Astrology for News Junkies. If you’re curious to know why the Impossible Burger is trending…or why the outcome of the 2019 Israeli elections was likely to be a shocker …or why “Woodrow Wilson, Stud Muffin” was a New York Times headline in December 2013, you will find it here, in over a decade’s worth of historical research and reporting.
Note that I do use astrological jargon in The Forecast in my effort to show how the planetary patterns are reflected in mundane events. I explain what the jargon symbolizes, so that all who want to understand the connections between astrology and the news may do so. However, I do not use astrological jargon in personal consultations, just plain English.

Astro-logical Forecast For Wednesday 7/11/2012: Another Loooonnnng Void
/in The ForecastAnother loooong void-of-course Moon, suggesting a day of rest and taking care of routine, as of 5:23AM…not to enter Taurus until 7:30PM ET. You may recall the Moon was void-of-course all day on Sunday, in the dreamy, go-with-the-flow sign of Pisces…which frankly, isn’t too much of a stretch. Today, however, the Moon is in Aries, a sign that prefers to charge ahead at full speed…and that may produce more than a few twists and trials to our patience. Why? Because when the Moon is void-of-course, moving forward purposefully in a straight line is more likely to take an unexpected detour. This particular Moon void begins on an ambitious (plus side) or restrictive (down side) challenge from controlling Saturn, setting the tone for the day.
Once Moon does enter Taurus at 7:30PM ET, the need for material security and comfort becomes more important than being Number One.
If you are new to the forecast and don’t know what a void-of-course Moon is, go to my website and read the forecast posted on February 10, 2012. Normally I would post a hyperlink right here….but my computer is not functioning as designed…and it’s only four days away from Mercury turning retrograde. Shocked, shocked I am…..*
*astrologer’s joke. Computer issues are legendary just before, during and just after Mercury retrograde periods. Do back up your computer now, please.
Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 7/10/2012: Mercury Retrograde Alert
/in The ForecastPlenty of energetic flow in matters of mind and body to get you through another day of Moon in fiery Aries. What world will you aim to conquer with a clever pitch or airy, optimistic flourish? Get it off your desk today if you can, as Moon will be void of course from 5:23AM to 7:30PM ET on Wednesday.
At 9:48PM ET the 3rd Quarter Moon is challenged by the touchy-feely Sun in Cancer, bringing you a final hit to the New Moon agenda set at the beginning of this lunar cycle. Your mission is to work it out.
In other news, Mercury will turn retrograde at 12 degrees of Leo on Saturday, July 14th at 10:16PM ET. It turns direct on August 8th. This 3 1/2 week period will afford plenty of opportunity to REview plans, REorganize offices and closets and REconnect with people, places and things from the past. It requires extreme FOCUS in all areas of communication and gizmos, lest ye be plagued by snafus. Rule #1: Back up your computers now.
Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 7/9/2012: A Particularly RAMbunctious Day
/in The ForecastA definite shift in tone this morning, compared to yesterdays’s dreamy float through Pisces. Moon blasted off into RAMbunctious Me-me-me Aries, suggesting a day with a reigning need of falling down stairs because it is faster than walking…and/or being a leader, pioneer and an inspiration. Caveat: this Aries Moon can be more aggressive than usual, courtesy of clashes with the warrior Mars, followed by challenges later from disruptive Uranus and ruthless Pluto. What kind of aggression? Well, minutes ago, news hit the wires of a Spirit Airlines plane that had to land because of an unruly passenger on board. Film at 11.
In other news, disruptions of the status quo may be felt by some as the FBI shuts down a DNS server that was put in place to avoid damages caused by hackers. Is your computer at risk? Find out…and get the whole story at Www.dcwg.org
Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 7/6/2012 & the Weekend: Mind the Voids — and Enjoy!
/in The ForecastEast Coasters, get it off your desk in the morning and then skip town if you can. West Coasters, you could probably phone it in — without consequence. Moon goes void of course at 11:48AM ET and drifts through the rest of the day until 12:29AM ET on Saturday. Really, anything that crops up may well feel like a crisis (and won’t be), and it could likely feel as if it’s taking you ten times as long to get it done as it normally does. But don’t take it from me…just note the void period and see how you experience it. As for me, I have a couple of important writing projects that must ship — and then I’m getting a pedicure. With the Moon in eccentric Aquarius, it’s anyone’s guess what shocking color I will choose — cobalt blue, maybe? Hmmm…maybe not.
Moon will be in the dreamy sign of Pisces on Saturday and Sunday. If you have necessary chores — especially a shopping list to complete, then do it on Saturday, though do note that aspects to the Moon suggest a self-indulgent vibe. You may spend a little more than you intended…but you’ll likely enjoy whatever you’ve purchased. On Sunday, the Moon goes void of course — still in Pisces — encouraging a dreamy flow. Activities involving intangibles: spirit, healing, meditation, film, fantasy, art, music — are all favored. Why — it’s another perfectly lovely weekend — enjoy!
And now, the news. With Uranus (aviation, technology, earthquakes, uranium) and Mercury (information) so prominent yesterday, it makes sense that we would see headlines like this: a long-awaited report on what caused the crash of an Air France jet in 2009 (answer: human beings relying on too much on computers instead of themselves); another report declaring the crisis at the Fukushima nuclear power plant a man-made disaster. It is worth noting that there have been significant protests in Japan over the re-opening of nuclear power plants in recent days. Protests are apparently rare in Japan — and these particular protests were not getting much coverage in the local mainstream media. Well, now you know.
Have a great weekend — next week is looking busy — and Mercury goes retrograde on July 14th. You know what that means — time to REview your life — with your local astrologer.
Peace out!
Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday & Thursday 7/4-5/2012: Chill With Your Friends
/in The ForecastAfter two days of proactivity it’s time to chill. Moon goes void-of-course in earthy Capricorn for 12 hours, starting at 8:25AM ET (if you are new to this forecast and don’t know what a Moon void is, click on the helpful link above). The void begins on a sobering connection to stern Saturn, planet of discipline and structure, but frankly, the party poopers will face tough competition from the swell of idealism that follows at 9:27AM ET, as mental Mercury and loving Venus make an intensely rose-colored hook-up. Why not go with the flow? During a long Moon void, that is an excellent course of action, as efforts to move purposefully in a straight line are more subject to twists and turns.
This is an awesome day for inventive minds and unconventional connections and approaches. Mercury and socially conscious Venus also make easy connections to innovative Uranus at 1:54PM ET and 10:36PM ET. Brainstorm to your heart’s content; hang out with a weird, wacky group of friends or strangers, and sit on the edge of your seat, waiting for today’s big announcement about the Higgs boson particle, a.k.a. the “God particle”. Astrological patterns support the rumors that they are closerthanthis to finding it…very, very hopeful…but so far, no cigar. The announcement is perfectly in synch with astrological patterns, as the Higgs boson theory was first posed in the early 60s (1964, I believe), just before the Uranus-Pluto conjunction in Virgo. Makes sense that we would see a major development happening on the Uranus-Pluto square.
Quantum physicists and astrologers have a few things in common. How so? Consider this:
A parallel example in astrology is any astrological pattern, such as the Uranus-Pluto square that is the dominant pattern for the next three years on Planet Earth. What is the physical reality of this pattern? What does it look like? I have no idea. But I know this pattern matters, because I can spot what happens on planetary and individual levels, as a result. Ooohhhhh…that is so… “choke me in the shallow waters/before I get too deep”. Take it away, Edie Brickell & the New Bohemians (after you listen to the song, consider buying it on iTunes).
The Moon enters Aquarius at 8:26PM ET, right before the fireworks begin on the East Coast. Let the friendly, humanitarian, socially significant (albeit somewhat eccentric) vibe continue….all day Thursday…and again on Friday. Please make sure everything is set up properly if you are setting off fireworks, especially if you set them up during the 12-hour Moon void.
Have a Happy 4th!
