I am a reporter with a unique beat. I use my understanding of planetary cycles to provide advance notice and analysis on the Zeitgeist of the day. If you have ever wondered “why is this happening now,” my insights will transform your experience of the headlines, adding new meaning and understanding. Call it Astrology for News Junkies. If you’re curious to know why the Impossible Burger is trending…or why the outcome of the 2019 Israeli elections was likely to be a shocker …or why “Woodrow Wilson, Stud Muffin” was a New York Times headline in December 2013, you will find it here, in over a decade’s worth of historical research and reporting.
Note that I do use astrological jargon in The Forecast in my effort to show how the planetary patterns are reflected in mundane events. I explain what the jargon symbolizes, so that all who want to understand the connections between astrology and the news may do so. However, I do not use astrological jargon in personal consultations, just plain English.

Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 3/18/2014: The End of the Year and Other Deep Thoughts
/in The ForecastOhhh…what a lot of news to process today….like a raindrop hanging on edge of a leaf, trembling as it contemplates a sudden release….falling into the ground…being absorbed and assimilated…into something greater than itself…
Clearly I’m writing under the influence of the Sun at the end of Pisces…only two more days and then the Sun will be reborn in Aries, and a new cycle begins. Trouble is, some people experience the end of Pisces as if it really is THE END. They can’t believe there’s a new dawn just around the corner. They give up hope; they wallow; they drown; they plan their escape. And here I would be thinking of yesterday’s reported suicide of fashion-model-turned-fashion-designer L’Wren Scott, also known as Mick Jagger’s significant other for 13 years. There’s some confusion about Ms. Scott’s birth date, though Wikipedia reports it as April 28th, 1964 in Salt Lake City. If that is true, her horoscope has been going through a long transit involving nebulous Neptune, ruler of Pisces, to her Saturn, suggesting a bewildering dissolution of structure and security. They say it’s always darkest before the dawn…
Today the Moon is still in relationship-oriented Libra, gliding unimpeded through business hours until 9:07PM ET, when it makes an impassioned connection with Mars…and then goes void with a sigh until 5:13AM ET. A communicative connection between Venus (aesthetics, social expression, money, women) in friendly, offbeat Aquarius and Uranus (aviation, space, seismic activity) in pioneering Aries is exact at 3PM ET. Network to your heart’s content. Experience some unconventional art. Explore that sudden attraction to that kinda cute technogeek with the cobalt-streaked hair. Feel free to move beyond your comfort zone. During the void: chill, chill, chill…and enjoy where the drift takes you.
More news.
With Mars retrograde, I have noticed a lot of headlines involving a review of issues involving cars. And Mars just happens to refer to cars. Amazing! Here’s a follow-up about an auto plant in Ohio that Mitt Romney allegedly said was doomed because of the taxpayer-funded rescue of American automakers. Well, that’s not quite what happened. Meanwhile, Toyota has halted production at a couple of plants in India because of labor issues. And General Motors is rushing to REcall a number of cars after a “decade-long failure” to correct a certain defect. In Paris, cars were actually banned — well, for one day. Finally, Tesla, the revolutionary car company, is battling mountains of red tape that are preventing sales of its electric vehicles in New Jersey and other states. Oh, I can’t imagine who might object to the sale of electric cars…
With Venus sextile Uranus today, it makes sense that we’d see a piece about how a novel technology is changing social expression at Virgin Airlines, along with seemingly-credible developments on the search for the missing plane, MH370. Reflecting a more “out of the blue” potential of a story involving Venus (a woman) and Uranus (aviation), the internet was abuzz with a post by Courtney Love, wondering if she might have found MH370 after scanning a satellite map. Far out — but not really. With Mercury (thoughts, communication) running wild in Leo and prominently placed in her horoscope, it makes perfect sense that Courtney Love would need to share her research with the Entire Free World — with drama and flair.
Meanwhile, a story about a more collective sharing of resources — and how non-profit companies are on the rise — also seems fitting — and also reflects the bigger-picture economic disruptions suggested by the never-ending Uranus-Pluto square, a.k.a. The Planetary Pattern Everyone Should Be Talking About. What is this thing called “zero marginal cost society?” Click on the preceding link. The Uranus-Pluto square suggests — nay, demands — major change, especially with the latest climate report from NASA. Did someone say end of the world? Perhaps will we get to that point faster if top-secret trade agreements like the Trans-Pacific Partnership go forward. This deal has been mentioned in prior posts; here’s an op-ed about it in a mainstream newspaper…finally.
But of course it’s not the end of the world…it can’t be…even though we’re in the last two days of the Sun in Pisces — and the end of the astrological year. A new year is just around the corner. Have faith! And let this story which broke today really blow your mind: scientists have detected what they have long predicted; i.e., primordial gravitational waves — a.k.a. the first tremors of the Big Bang.
Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 3/17/2014: Sneak Peek at the Week
/in The ForecastGood Morning!
Emotional fallout from Sunday’s Full Moon notwithstanding, planetary patterns in the early part of the day are free from too much interference, so use the morning and early afternoon productively. Happy hour on the East Coast is marked by two aspects of exceptional good cheer, as the people-pleasing Libra Moon gets an exuberant lift from Jupiter and Venus around 5PM ET. Who’s going out for a green beer in honor of St Patricks Day?
Ninety minutes later, the Moon is scheduled for its weekly clash with the never-ending Uranus-Pluto square, as it first opposes rebel Uranus at 6:50PM ET, and then squares Pluto at 10:11PM ET. This sets the stage for potential upsets and power plays, especially for those with planets or angles between 10 and 14 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. But wait — there’s more! Mental Mercury leaves rocket scientist Aquarius for the emotional, flow of watery Pisces at 6:24PM ET. This suggests a need for a more intuitive, compassionate and/or martyred mindset from now until April 8th. The good news is that as of March 20th, Mercury will be out of its “shadow” stage, i.e., back to where it started when it turned retrograde at 3 Pisces on February 7th, suggesting projects that have been under review or snafued since then may finally be free of kinks.
Coming up later this week: the beginning of the astro-logical New Year! And this would be the Vernal Equinox, a.k.a. the first day of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere, as the Sun charges ahead in pioneering Aries. That’ll happen on Thursday at 12:57PM ET.
If you live in the Americas, business hours are nearly Moon-void free, suggesting little time for space outs and wandering drifts. This is not the case for those living in Tokyo, for example, which is 13 hours ahead of New York….or those in Malaysia, which is 12 hours ahead. This week’s voids are: Tuesday 9:37PM ET until 5:13AM ET; Thursday 11:11PM ET until Friday 11:39AM ET. Moon voids often feel like you are herding cats, as efforts to move forward in a straight line are subject to twists, delays and crises that turn out to be “much ado about nothing”. Something to keep in mind regarding any news related to the search for the missing plane — MH370 — that comes up during these times.
And now, the news.
Shake-ups and break-ups from the Established Order are an ongoing theme of the never-ending Uranus-Pluto square, which has been under ever-increasing pressure from expansive Jupiter for some weeks….and likely to crest April 21st-23rd with the Cardinal Grand Cross astrologers have been talking about for months. Think emancipation and empowerment, as Crimea broke away from the Ukraine and declared itself a separate republic. Did you know that Scotland is also considering declaring its independence from the United Kingdom, and will vote on the issue in September? Meanwhile, in Sunday’s New York Times, columnist Ross Douthat appears to bemoan a current climate of “individualism” in America, which I’d argue is an apt reflection of rebel Uranus traveling through pioneering, self-reliant, me-me-me Aries. One theme of Uranus is freedom. One theme of Aries is the individual. Put the two together and you get lots of individuals becoming self-reliant (and self-employed), because they wish to be free from the System or because the System is breaking down (Pluto in Capricorn).
Here’s another headline reflecting Uranus (rocket science) in Aries (individual): How Billionaires With Big Ideas Are Privatizing Science. Plenty of food for thought…I’d write more, but then you wouldn’t get this forecast until suppertime….
Astro-logical Forecast for Saturday & Sunday 3/15-16/2014: Full Moon in Virgo
/in The ForecastPlanetary patterns on Saturday are lusciously light, and there’s no Moon-void to caution your urge to hit early morning yard sales in search of thrifty bargains…or derail your plans to organize, organize, organize. Since the Moon is in perfection-seeking Virgo, you may enjoy a day of perfect refinement, especially after lunchtime ET. Pursuits involving regeneration and resourcefulness are favored.
Note how a need to be correct may be increasing, courtesy of the Moon waxing to its fullness on Sunday at 1:08PM ET, when the exacting Virgo Moon opposes the ethereal Pisces Sun. It immediately goes void with a sigh until 8:48PM ET. Use that seven and a half-hour void to chill and refrain from freaking out because the energy of the day went from fourth gear to a wandering drift. Likewise if your need for a precise answer was met by a blank stare.
You’re more personally affected by the form vs. formless Virgo-Pisces polarity if you have a planet or an angle around 27 degrees of Virgo, Pisces, Sagittarius or Gemini. The rest of us will have to settle for illumination on the New Moon agenda we launched two weeks ago.
After 8:48PM ET, Moon ingresses into Libra, seeking peace, balance and appreciation, especially in matters of relationship. Maybe you’ll sort out your differences tonight; though Monday’s patterns — up until 6PM ET are more promising.
No sleeping in on Monday…
Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 3/14/2014: TGIF
/in The ForecastSleeping in this morning? I know I am, egged on by the Leo Moon being void -of-course until 10:17AM ET. TGIF! Once up, I’ll be refining and organizing to my heart’s content, inspired by the Moon’s ingress into perfection-seeking Virgo, where it will be for the bulk of the weekend. Today there’s a easy coordination of the mental and physical realms, perhaps attempting to defy the mechanical breakdown potential of Mars (action!) retrograde. By nightfall, perhaps you’ll be feeling the need for a perfect escape, suggested by an opposition between the Virgo Moon and dreamy Pisces.
Will post later about the Full Moon, news and etc….
Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 3/13/2014: Good Vibes & Good Business
/in The ForecastWhile Moon continues its sojourn through drama queen Leo, the Sun makes an easy connection to disciplined Saturn. A good day to get down to business in ways that allow you to shine — the earlier, the better. The Sun-Saturn trine is exact at 5:16pm ET; after that, the Moon is challenged by a “wet blanket” square from Saturn, exact at 8:48PM ET. Get it off your desk today or ship it after 10:17AM ET Friday, as the Moon will be void of course from 3:24AM – 10:17AM ET on Friday.
So. Moon is in Leo, craving love, love, love… in the most personal, adoring way. Yet Venus, which refers to social expression and affection, is in “I love you, but don’t take it personally” Aquarius. And what is trending all over the web? This little video about strangers paired up and asked to kiss for the very first time. Oh, who cares if they’re “models”? Charmed, I’m sure. “Play it, Sam…”
Oh, and if you’re thinking of booking a personal astro-logical consultation, now is a good time to do it, as I will be traveling off and on over the next couple of weeks…
