Monday 3/28/2022: Sneak Peek at the Week; Postcard from the Void; Venus Conjunct Saturn; New Moon in Aries

Allllllrighty then!

The Moon is still in Aquarius, driving the day with a need for social significance. However, if you’re hoping to launch a product you hope will be a game-changer, today (MONDAY) is not the day to do it. At 10:11 AM ET, the Moon is void — i.e., traveling without support from the other kids in the cosmic sandbox. If you needed an extra push to get your day going, that’s a common Moon void feeling. When you do get going, projects that are routine are best tackled today. If a crisis crops up, CHILL – as chances are that it’s much ado about nothing.

During the work week, there is only one exact planetary pattern that does not involve the Moon, and it’s been making itself known over the past few days. At 3:27 PM ET on Monday,  Venus – which refers to who, what and how we need to love – will be conjunct Saturn – which represents control, authority and responsibility.  Heavy news involving social expression, women, as well as cuts and losses involving money, the arts, and technology are likely to make news. Upside potential: boundaries may finally be clarified in matters over the past few weeks that been amorphous. And yes, Will Smith’s horoscope is directly affected by the Venus-Saturn conjunction, reflected by his actions at last night’s Oscars (we’ll cover that in detail in a moment).

Here’s how the week goes:

  • MONDAY: Moon void in Aquarius until 12:31 AM ET on..
  • TUESDAY: when Moon enters Pisces, a sign that is focused on empathy and impressions. This is how we may be able to process whatever authoritative structures that smacked us in the face over the weekend and on Monday. Spend the afternoon and evening soliciting cooperation from friends, networks and technology, as Moon sextiles Uranus at 10:53 PM ET.
  • WEDNESDAY: An exuberant, expansive morning, reflecting the Moon’s meet-up with Jupiter at 1:24 PM ET. Double check the facts and communication as the afternoon progresses, as the Moon’s meet-up with Neptune at 5:54 PM ET can be foggy. However, we may also plant seeds for a new vision involving healing, spirit, peace and empathy.  There is nothing else happening today except my birthday, so if you’ve ever flirted with the idea of becoming a Faithful Monthly Supporter of these forecasts, this would be a wonderful day to do it. Cheers!
  • THURSDAY: Moon goes void at 2:36 AM ET on a sextile to Pluto, the Powers That Be. At 5:30 AM ET, the pace picks up when the Moon zooms into Aries, looking to get something started. However, because the Moon is at the end of the lunar cycle, what that new thing is may not be visible. Look up at the sky at night and you won’t see the Moon; and it’s traveling too close to the Sun to be seen during the day (the Sun’s light is just too bright).  That’s why conventional astrological wisdom says that when the Moon is dark, it’s a good time to do something you hope will fly under the radar. At 10:34 PM ET, Moon meets up with Mercury, highlighting ideas and communication.
  • FRIDAY: at 2:24 AM ET, the Aries Moon meets up with the Aries Sun, and the new lunar cycle officially begins. Now is the time to make a list of intentions for the next 30 days. If you have a project that requires idealism executed with militant discipline, put it on your list, as that kind of project reflects patterns in this New Moon, as you can see in this chart set in Washington, DC:

Observations:

  • Aries needs to be a courageous, inspiring pioneer and/or warrior, preferably on the side of the angels. At its best, Aries is a champion for the weak, the vulnerable, the underdog. It inspires people to take initiatives and defy the odds…yes, sometimes foolishly, but hey — if Plan A blows up, there’s always a Plan B, a Plan C and D. A true Aries never never never gives up. To Aries, there is always a tomorrow.  At its worst, well…let’s just say Aries can be utterly self-absorbed and go to disturbing extremes in order to be thought of FIRST. Astrologer Rick Levine likes to say the Aries operating principle is, “Ready…Fire…Aim!” Wherever, whatever…so long as something gets started. I like to say that Aries falls down stairs because it is faster than walking. You got a problem with that?
  • The idealism embodied in the seeds for this New Moon reflect the Mercury-Moon-Sun conjunction. Thinking ahead of the curve, perhaps — but without all the facts at hand.
  • The militant discipline is suggested by the Mars-Saturn conjunction, exact on April 4th. This conjunction will happen at 22 Aquarius, opposing Putin’s Pluto at 22 Leo — and possibly his Leo MC (his birth time is not confirmed). Perhaps he will make a militantly disciplined advance — or perhaps we will see an effort to contain his thirst for world domination.
  • Grand, grand faith is suggested by the conjunction of Jupiter and Neptune in Pisces, exact on April 12th. Here’s the 411 on that pattern, as well as Jupiter’s trek through Pisces and Aries in 2022.
  • Venus is finally no longer sandwiched between Mars and Saturn. The technical term for being sandwiched between two heavies is “besieged.” It’s fascinating to see how often the words “besieged” and “siege” have appeared in the news since March 6th, especially with respect to the invasion of Ukraine. Will those words fade away, now that Venus is free and heading towards Cosmic Sugar Daddy Jupiter?
  • The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon in Aries is “a flock of white geese.” Instantly we might think of “heading south,” perhaps to warmer, sunnier climes? Sabian Sage Blain Bovee notes that geese fly in a V-formation, with rotating leadership. They also fly on instinct, “with an unerring sense of direction…with no question of turning back.” We have an image of cooperation among group, unified in their objective, which another Sabian Symbol specialist suggests is…freedom. Well, then. Wherever 11-12 degrees of Aries falls in your horoscope is where you may plant seeds for becoming…carefree.

The exhilarating potential of this Sabian Symbol is reflected in Beth Owl’s Daughter’s always-in-sync Tarot Card of the Week.

Back to the forecast:

  • FRIDAY (cont): After the New Moon at 2:24 AM ET, the Aries Moon travels without input from the rest of the planets for most of the business day. Late afternoon and evening offering support for desired accomplishment, as Moon sextiles Mars and Saturn at 6:07 PM ET and 10:03 PM ET.
  • SATURDAY: Moon makes its weekly clash with Pluto at 9:51 AM ET, suggesting emotional depth, catharsis and power plays. Chill during the three-hour void. Moon enters Taurus at 12:50 PM ET, seeking to build and maintain material comfort and security.  Now is the time to indulge in simple pleasures of the senses or plant your garden. Projects of a grander scale may also move forward – inspired by the crusading vision of Mercury’s meet-up with the Sun at 7:10 PM ET.
  • SUNDAY: Moon in Taurus meets up with rebel Uranus at 1:46 PM ET, suggesting a sudden innovation or other revelation. Absolutely no sleeping in on Monday. The Taurus Moon’s need to consolidate is supported by six planets throughout the day, not to mention the militant discipline of that Mars-Saturn conjunction, exact late Monday night. Monday is when the Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to vote on Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s confirmation.

And now, the news…

…featuring a cast of thousands, and these planetary patterns (from today and last week):

  • Venus conjunct Saturn in Aquarius, not known for its sense of humor. Venus-Saturn can be harsh in its efforts to streamline and control social expression, money, arts, women and worth. Venus-Saturn aspects also refer to women who mean business, cuts and losses.
  • Mercury at the Aries Point…in which words command our attention.
  • Mercury (how we need to think and communicate) conjunct Jupiter-Neptune (big visions; big dreams; big wigginess), sextile Pluto (dirt-digging; corruption exposed; empowerment).

Ready?

In no particular order…

Meanwhile, at the Oscars

…which is what everyone was talking about today, Monday, during the all-day Moon void.  I’m talking about the “slap heard ’round the world” — i.e., Will Smith’s decision to physically assault comedian Chris Rock after Rock joked that he was looking forward to seeing Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith, in G.I. Jane 2. Pinkett-Smith has talked about being diagnosed with alopecia in 2018, and how she’s made peace with this autoimmune disease (which results in hair loss), by shaving her head.

OK. First of all, who remembers that one of the Sabian Symbols for the March 18th Full Moon was “a bald-headed man,” and we could expect prominent headlines about those with hair — and hair loss. So there’s that.

Second, obviously Will Smith’s horoscope was directly affected by planetary patterns — and even the NY Post is talking about the astrology of it all. Seriously! That no-nonsense Venus-Saturn square was squaring Smith’s Scorpio Moon, which has a thing about loyalty and honor. The square from Saturn to his Moon will continue throughout 2022, and this may be heavy and isolating. Smith is likely an idealist in social expression, suggested by his Mercury and Venus at the verrrry end of Libra — both of which are currently being supercharged by transiting Pluto. So we anticipate extremes of social expression and communication, with a need for creative passion and persuasion. Pluto transits can be provocative, especially in matters of power — and power plays. Pluto is also engaging his Sun/Moon midpoint, an important marker for relationships. Some relationships may be breaking down and transforming, with separations possible by the time this transit is over.

Meanwhile, transiting Jupiter — ruler of his 7th house (the public, open enemies and significant others) — is opposing his natal Jupiter, expanding that area of his life, for better or for worse. Finally, transiting Mars was near the Midheaven of his chart, suggesting matters of aggression, courage and assertion — especially affecting his professional status and reputation — could be on his plate. Smith is a Libra, with Uranus conjunct the Sun — so he’s a maverick at heart. Plus, his Uranus is at the Aries Point — so his need to be a rebel can’t help but get attention. And speaking of Uranus, it’s hot in his horoscope, just as it’s hot in Clarence Thomas’ horoscope — i.e., in a hard aspect to the Midheaven. This suggests a potential fresh start in matters of home, relationship, self-image and/or career.

The exact hit of Uranus to Smith’s Midheaven happens in late April. We’ll see if there are any consequences for his behavior. Last night the Academy did not remove Smith from the theater, as one might expect would happen if a passenger on an airplane became unruly. The show went on — as if nothing unusual had happened — and then Smith won the Oscar for best actor. And instead of hearing, “Accepting the award on behalf of Mr. Smith…,” Smith himself got to take the stage, make a speech and party through the night. As the former guy once said, “When you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything.”

Dr. Mary L. Trump wrote a book about how the failure to hold certain privileged classes accountable for their actions has harmed America over the past 250 years. It’s called The Reckoning, and much of the history she recounts is up for resolution during the U.S. Pluto Return.

Meanwhile, the Academy says it will open “a formal investigation.” Smith issued a more formal apology this afternoon.

Obviously, transiting Mars and Pluto are activating Chris Rock’s horoscope, too.

Did you know that Saturn refers to deafness? Combine it with Venus (the arts), and isn’t is cool that CODA won Best Picture? It’s about a deaf family! Venus-Saturn in Aquarius was reflected in Jane Campion’s win for Best Director, too.

Whew!

That was a lot of news.

Here’s the 411 on personal consultations.

Whitney Fishburn and I are recording another

“Off the Charts: A Stellar Newscast”   this week. We’ll be talking about the Supreme Court.

Kathy Rose and I will be recording a talk about the horoscope of Anna Delvey (nee Sorokin) of Inventing Anna fame. Stay tuned for details.

I had a blast talking about astrology and the news in a workshop hosted by the good folks at Astrology Arizona — thank you!

I had still more fun last week doing “turbo astrology” mini-consultations for the wonderful employees at a Manhattan design firm, and if that sounds like a fun thing for your company to host, let’s talk. Thanks to Zoom, I can work anywhere.
