Monday 2/8/2021: Sneak Peek at the Week; New Moon in Aquarius; Venus in the News

Arise, go forth and make it happen. That’s the drive of the Moon in Capricorn, where it’s been since Sunday at 3:51 PM ET…and where it will be until Tuesday at 8:20 PM ET. This proactive drive is enabled by the stubborn endurance of Mars in Taurus, as Moon and Mars will be in a trine (harmony) at 9:21 PM ET. Whether this is a positive or destructive enabling remains to be seen.

Last week, Venus (money, values, women, art) was the star player; this week, it’s Mercury making the most connections with the other kids in the sandbox. Today at 8:47 AM ET, Mercury — still retrograde — met up with the Sun, suggesting a need to rethink what is already a rethought strategy (Mercury is retrograde). Watch the headlines; see what emerges. The rest of the week goes like this:

  • TUESDAY: A power play and/or catharsis builds to a release around 12:20 PM ET, when the Capricorn Moon meets up with Pluto. Capricorn Moon’s proactive drive may fizzle in the ensuing eight hour void. Roll with the twists and flakes that may disrupt efforts to move forward in a straight line. CHILL if a crisis erupts, as crises which arise during voids are usually much ado about nothing. There are sure to be explosive verbal spats and People Refusing to Budge. Why? Because Mercury is in a tense pattern (a square) with stubborn Mars in Taurus (exact at 7:15 AM ET the next day). Moon enters Aquarius at 8:20 PM ET, looking to be of social significance, connect the dots with its enormous intellect and hang with its besties. Surely we must all hang together, or we will hang separately, as the saying goes.
  • TUESDAY: the second impeachment trial of the disgraced former social media influencer (says SNL), & White House occupant is supposed to start “around mid-day.” We anticipate delays (sponsored in part by Mercury retrograde square Mars), and we’ll see if it starts before the Moon goes void at 12:20 PM ET. It appears that the “much ado about nothing” void will be used for a Mercury retrograde debate over whether the impeachment trial is constitutional (it is, says this super-conservative Republican constitutional lawyer).  Void, or not, the Moon is definitely in the balsamic phase (the end) of the lunar cycle, a.k.a. a dead Moon. With little or no light shining, a dead Moon is an excellent cover for clandestine meetings and other activities best carried out under the radar.
  • WEDNESDAY: A combative start to the day, courtesy of the Mercury-Mars square. An authoritarian advance or sobering control presents itself around 7:41 AM ET, as Moon meets up with Saturn. That’s followed by a jolt — of innovation or rebellion — around 8:51 AM ET, as Moon squares Uranus. Upsets give way to potential exuberant expansion, as Moon meets up with Venus and Jupiter in Aquarius (everybody’s potential best friend), at 5:10 PM ET and 6:28 PM ET. Time to buy a few lottery tickets? Perhaps, if your horoscope is personally affected. President Biden’s Mars is definitely affected, activating expansive actions in matters of creative self-expression. Resistance is futile.
  • THURSDAY: Night owls may be restless as they 1) sense that the New Moon is just around the corner, and 2) the still-dead Moon meets up with Mercury and squares Mars at 2:21 AM ET and 4:54 AM ET.
  • At 9:59 AM ET, Venus and Jupiter meet up in Aquarius. If you were born around the 1st of February, May, August or October, let me know if this day is especially sweet. And watch for stories of sweetness (including insulin and diabetes) in the news. At 2:05 PM ET, the New Moon in Aquarius begins. Here’s what that looks like, set in Washington, D.C.:

Observations:

  • There are six planets in Aquarius: Sun-Moon, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn. The last couple of times we  had such a big pile-up of planets in Aquarius during a New Moon was in 1994 and on February 5, 1962. Aquarius needs freedom to be its intensely unique self, and is associated with revolution. Aquarius needs to be innovative in its intellectual approach. A New Moon is a seed-planting opportunity, and in the years after that February 1962 New Moon, seeds for self-expression and validation certainly took root. If memory serves, the late 90s were a boom time for technology, especially the development of the Internet.
  • In this New Moon chart, Sun-Moon are in the 9th house, suggesting a focus on publishing, travel, foreign affairs, religious dogma, court opinions and legal proceedings. Seeds for a revolutionary collective belief system may be planted.
  • Neptune is conjunct the Midheaven, i.e., the cusp of the 10th house. The 10th refers to leaders; Neptune refers to vision, healing, fog and/or scandal. Since Neptune is moving away from the Midheaven, its symbolism refers to the recent past.  Perhaps it refers to the impeachment of the scandalous former WH occupant.
  • Saturn and Uranus are minutes away from their first exact (on 2/17) square. We see tension between the old guard and the avant garde, soon to be released, suggesting bubbles about to burst.
  • The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon is “a man turning his back on his passions and teaching from experience.”  Lynda Hill’s interpretation for this Symbol argues in favor of letting go of old patterns that no longer serve.
  • As I’m typing this, Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL) became the fourth GOP senator to announce they would not seek re-election in 2022. He joins Rob Portman (R-OH), Richard Burr (R-NC) and Pat Toomey (R-PA). Out with the old guard; in with the avant garde.
  • Not only that, but Beth Owl’s Daughter’s Tarot Card of the Week is an image of a man…with his back turned! As always, Beth is perfectly in sync with planetary patterns.
  • You are more personally affected by this New Moon if you have planets or angles around 23 Aquarius, Leo, Taurus or Scorpio. If you’re a former president facing impeachment, your public status is affected. If you’re Brett Kavanaugh, this New Moon falls right on your Aquarius Sun. I do think his horoscope is one to watch this year, along with his colleagues Alito and Thomas.

Back to the forecast for the week:

  • THURSDAY: The Aquarius New Moon at 2:05 PM ET goes void for the next 12 hours. Chill!
  • FRIDAY: Moon enters Pisces at 2:23 AM ET, inspiring us to connect with ideals and empathy. A seductive Valentine’s Day weekend escape may arrive early. Moon sextiles innovative Uranus at 3:30 PM ET (try something new) and…
  • SATURDAY: Mercury meets up with Venus in Aquarius at 2:47 AM ET, focused on unconventional modes of social expression. Acting on a dream is enabled in the afternoon, as Moon sextiles Mars at 2:45 PM ET and then meets up with escape artist Neptune at 3:10 PM ET. Some enchanted evening may be yours as Mars (action! desire!) makes a cooperative connection with Neptune, softening the edges of Mars in Taurus’ earthy demands.
  • SUNDAY: Moon goes void at 2:27 AM ET on a harmony with Pluto, facilitating emotional depth. Chill until 10:53 AM ET, when the energy of the day shifts gears into go-go-go Aries. Big, bold statements are likely to be expressed today (and a few days beforehand), as Mercury retrograde meets up with Jupiter in Aquarius. Themes include humanitarian aid, technology, aviation, social media, astrology — and of course, legal opinions.

And now, the news.

If it feels as if things are moving faster than warp speed, there are astrological correlations. All planets except Mercury are direct in motion, and all are moving faster than their average speeds, especially Jupiter and Saturn, Keeping up with the news is an eternal game of Whack-a-Mole.

Last week’s meet-up of Venus and Saturn in Aquarius, followed by Venus’ square to Uranus suggested heavy and disruptive headlines involving women, arts, money and social expression:

  • On Monday night, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) went live on Instagram to share what happened to her on January 6th attempted coup. She revealed she was a survivor of sexual assault (apt for a day with Sun square Mars). She argued that those responsible must be held accountable, and that to move forward as if nothing traumatizing had happened would be enabling abuse.  We can appreciate how AOC would be in a take-no-prisoners mode, with transiting Mars (action!) opposed her Pluto (power).  Speaking of Pluto, it’s quite active in her horoscope in 2021, especially this summer. We see potential for a major life milestone, along with opportunities to take command.
  • AOC said she found shelter in the office of Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA). Porter is a Capricorn, driven by a security-building Moon in Taurus, with Saturn prominently placed in maternal Cancer. Later on Monday, Porter confirmed AOC’s story on MSNBC, saying, “I’m a mom. I’m calm. I have everything we need. We can live for like a month in this office.” Isn’t that just the perfect expression of her horoscope?
  • On Tuesday — which seems like years ago — Alexei Navalny gave a defiant speech from court in Moscow, where he was sentenced to two and a half years in jail. His supporters say they will continue to take to the streets.
  • On Wednesday, Liz Cheney (R-WY), (a woman of steel who threw her sister Mary under the bus to win her Congressional seat several years ago), survived an effort by 65 Republican colleagues to remove her from a party leadership position because she voted to impeach P45. She was still censured by the Wyoming GOP for voting her conscience; nevertheless, she has persisted in calling on her colleagues to follow her lead.
  • On Thursday, 11 Republicans joined their Democratic colleagues in a vote to strip conspiracy-theorist Marjorie Taylor Greene (Q-GA) from her Congressional committees. It was a big week for Greene, as only the day before she was the target of Randy Rainbow’s latest musical parody.
  • Meanwhile, a former QAnon believer told CNN she was “stunned by Biden’s inauguration;” and explained what finally woke her up
  • On Saturday, Pope Francis made a daring break with the past and elected the first woman to serve in a senior church post. We see how his values and social expression need to find an innovative expression now, as transiting Uranus squares his Venus, and Jupiter-Saturn conjoin it.
  • Days after her Jupiter return (suggesting reward and expansion), Stacey Abrams was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

However, Jupiter’s action in a horoscope is no guarantee of good fortune. Jupiter is expansion, for better or worse. I was saddened to read that beloved philanthropist Captain Sir Tom Moore, the centenarian who raised millions for the UK’s National Health Service in 2020, passed away last week — from Covid. Transiting Jupiter was opposing his natal Jupiter-Neptune conjunction and squaring his Taurus Sun. Neptune can refer to infections. Jupiter’s expansive energy here was not helpful.  Here is a write-up of his horoscope, published last year.

Meanwhile…

When Mercury is retrograde, it’s not unusual to hear from people you haven’t seen in years — or find a missing object lost long ago, as in:

Finally, remember this prediction from last week’s forecast?

SATURDAY: The Moon in Sagittarius is well-supported by Jupiter and Sun, facilitating desire for a gamble or a gambol. Date night favors unconventional attractions, as Venus squares Uranus at 10:32 PM ET. That’s a recipe for an especially bawdy and wacky SNL, if you ask me…

…and here’s the bawdy and wacky Zillow ad SNL created. It’s generating a ton of buzz!
