The pace picks up noticeably at 6:07AM ET, as the Moon waxes to its fullness in me-me-me Aries. Add to this the electric buzz of today’s exact face-off between the relationship-focused Sun in Libra and the indulgent social expression of another face-off between the Moon and Venus, and more than one circuit board may be blown, for better or for worse. Applying this energy to the Mercury retrograde-approved tasks of REconnecting, REorganizing, REviewing, REkindling, etc, would be a fine outlet for this energy. RElaxing, while appropriate, may be seriously challenging over the next couple of days. Energies are running high!
Please remember to slow down and focus while on the road and otherwise moving about. Even if everyone around you is not. Get to the gym instead — or just go for a walk. Then make plans to stay up late (or get up early) to watch the Full Moon and total lunar eclipse that will be visible in most of North America. Here is a handy chart with everything you need to know about what you will be able to see and when.
Eclipses interrupt the regular flow of light and whatever other energy flows from the Sun or the Moon, like a river meeting a dam. Eclipses act as “bottlenecks” of energy. Light flowing from the Sun or Moon is temporarily interrupted, focusing attention on the interrupted point and allowing something new and possible fragile to enter the picture and grow. And here I would be thinking of Michael, the kindhearted policeman in the storybook Make Way for Ducklings, who stopped the flow of traffic on Beacon Street so Mr. and Mrs. Mallard and their brood of eight could safely make their way to the Boston Public Garden.
Of course while traffic is stopped, it’s also backing up…and when it flows again, it’s possible that some drivers may hit the gas a little too hard — and wham! — there’s a sudden release of the bottle-necked energy. If you have a planet or point at the degree of an exceptionally potent eclipse, you may feel the effects of the release of the bottleneck for months afterward — sometimes even years.
There are a number of astrologers who believe that eclipses may function as portals for groups of souls incarnating on Earth. What do you think of that, cherished ducklings?
This total eclipse happens at 15 degrees of Libra (Moon) and Aries (Sun), suggesting illumination on issues in relationship — the “we” of Libra vs. the “me” of Aries. How do we find a balance? In the chart for this eclipse, I am intrigued by the presence of an energetically self-sufficient Grand Trine in the Fire Signs: Uranus in Aries, Jupiter in Leo and Mars in Sagittarius. This suggests an easy flow of actions that may seem as if they are above the law, or at least a law unto themselves. The groundbreaking potential we may see reflected in world events is echoed by the involvement of Uranus and Pluto with the Sun, Moon and Venus. If you have a planet or angle around 10 -17 degrees of Aries, Libra, Cancer or Capricorn, you will be feeling the buzz more than most, and especially if you have a planet or angle at 15-16 degrees of the aforementioned signs.
The Sabian Symbols for this eclipse are as follows. For the Aries Sun: “a boat landing washed away”. For the Libra Moon: “brownies dancing in the setting sun,” and no I not think they are hash brownies, although with Neptune in Pisces, you never know. But seriously, these brownies are intended to be nature spirits, cheerfully showing up at the end of the day, perhaps to help we hapless humans put our lives in order, much as the elves made shoes for the old cobbler in this lovely classic fairy tale.
When a boat landing is washed away, boats may not dock until the landing is repaired. Especially in light of Mercury’s retrograde, consider what healing and repairs need to be done. We’re talking about working on the inside before going outside. Be open to a deeper relationship with the intangible forces of nature. Let your mind rest at night; note your inspiration when you awake. Consider how you can REcreate a new foundation (shoes) or landing pad so that your ship may come in. These are some possible strategies that hit me as I read Sabian Symbol guru Blain Bovee’s nifty little book.
And now, the news.
Relationship, relationship, relationship. Breakthrough, breakthrough, breakthrough. That’s what we’ve been anticipating, and yesterday did not disappoint when the Supreme Court…
…let stand appeals court rulings allowing such unions in five states. The development, a major surprise, cleared the way for same-sex marriages in Indiana, Oklahoma, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin.
Another empowering item impacting relationship and also conveying the regenerative powers of Pluto and the innovative dynamic of Jupiter, Uranus and macho Mars is this headline: “Lab-grown Penises Ready for Testing”. Meanwhile, here’s a scientific breakthrough suitable for those who may be disoriented by mental Mercury’s retrograde: a Nobel prize is being awarded to researchers who have located the brain’s internal GPS. As The Guardian reports:
The groundbreaking research transformed neuroscientists’ understanding of the brain’s ability to navigate and answered a question that had stumped scientists and philosophers for hundreds of years: how do we know our place in the world?
Also reflecting current patterns: shake-ups and break-ups at Hewlett-Packard, as the monster corporation will split into two separate companies and RE-organize. Did you know that you can refill your HP ink cartridges at Costco for much less than it costs to buy new ones? I just had to share that PSA.
Meanwhile, planets involved with Uranus and Pluto suggest events involving energy and explosives, and here’s an item about an explosion at a suspected nuclear site in Iran. Another explosive item (perhaps) about power and resources was this bit: “How 14 People Made More Money Than the Entire Food Stamp Budget for 50 Million People”. That’s a reaction to last week’s list of the Forbes 400 Richest People in America, featuring most of the usual suspects.
Enjoy the eclipse! And consider this. We often see a release of bottlenecked energy when a transiting planet hits the degree(s) of an eclipse, in this case 15 Aries and 15 Libra. Uranus and Mars will hit 15 Aries between March 12-14. The last of the seven exact squares between Uranus and Pluto happens on March 17th. I expect we’ll see some interesting headlines right about then.
