I am a reporter with a unique beat. I use my understanding of planetary cycles to provide advance notice and analysis on the Zeitgeist of the day. If you have ever wondered “why is this happening now,” my insights will transform your experience of the headlines, adding new meaning and understanding. Call it Astrology for News Junkies. If you’re curious to know why the Impossible Burger is trending…or why the outcome of the 2019 Israeli elections was likely to be a shocker …or why “Woodrow Wilson, Stud Muffin” was a New York Times headline in December 2013, you will find it here, in over a decade’s worth of historical research and reporting.
Note that I do use astrological jargon in The Forecast in my effort to show how the planetary patterns are reflected in mundane events. I explain what the jargon symbolizes, so that all who want to understand the connections between astrology and the news may do so. However, I do not use astrological jargon in personal consultations, just plain English.
Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 11/23/2011: Hello, I Must Be Going…
/in The ForecastBriefly: patience in all things travel and communication-related. Mercury is about to turn retrograde, suggesting a higher probability of delayed flights, taxi drivers who don’t know how to get to the airport, barrista with questionable organizational skills and other delights. Patience will be even more helpful as you manage today’s Moon in Scorpio and its need for depth, intensity and control. Pretend you are visiting from another planet.
Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 11/22/11: Dark Side of the Moon
/in The ForecastIn terms of planetary activity, yesterday was the quietest day of the week. We have an interesting dichotomy now of having an abundance of weird, innovative, creative, possibly resourceful and/or forceful energy to use, suggested by a number of stable contacts between rebel genius Uranus and the Sun (life force), action-oriented Mars and indefatigable Pluto and disciplined Saturn and loving Venus…all of which will be exact today and tomorrow. BUT — 1) we are in the last phase of the lunar cycle, suggesting that our focus is best spent wrapping up old business and clearing the way for the New Moon, exact at 1:10AM ET Friday; and 2) Mercury has reached its station of 21 Sagittarius, about to turn retrograde on Thursday at 2:21AM ET, suggesting our minds are not working as deftly as they usually do. Back up your computer NOW. No, really. RIGHT NOW.
Today the Moon in Libra suggests a need for balance, peace, justice and fairness in all interactions, even as we adjust to the wild shift made by the Sun’s ingress into adventurous, fiery Sagittarius at 11:08AM ET. Whereas Sun in Scorpio can keep much under wraps for the sake of control, Sun in Sagittarius is more inclined to let it all hang out, and never mind the mess. If you were a Centaur (half-human, half-horse), aiming at arrow at the sky, whilst galumphing across an open field, you’d trip over your four left hooves on occasion, too. But what a fitting festive energy for the beginning of the holiday season…
Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 11/21/11: Revolution Earth
/in The ForecastNo exact aspects today except for a potentially potent & cathartic challenge between Moon in fair-minded, peace-loving Libra and ruthless Pluto at 6:04AM ET. A cranky encounter with a moody woman? A spat over resources and other possessions? Perhaps nothing at all, because you’re not even awake at 6:04AM ET for gawdsake? Aspects from Moon move fast — blink and you might miss ’em.
Yesterday’s exact square between nebulous Neptune and Sun was reflected in many headlines. Neptune refers to oil, water and toxins. Here’s a must-read piece about all three in the New York Times Magazine http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/20/magazine/fracking-amwell-township.html?src=recg Neptune also refers to spaciness and fantasy, delightfully illustrated in this bit from The Onion http://www.theonion.com/articles/you-look-like-you-could-use-an-elizabethan-adventu,10881/ Of course pepper spray is also a toxin, and if you haven’t been keeping up on the story of the alleged police officer nonchalantly blasting students at UC/Davis and sending at least one to a nearby hospital, have a look http://www.salon.com/2011/11/20/the_roots_of_the_uc_davis_pepper_spraying/ The toxic incident has since been turned into fine art, also represented by Neptune http://peppersprayingcop.tumblr.com/ In other news, the word “fantasy” was featured in this piece on the Super Committee http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/11/20/fantasies-of-a-debt-deal-from-a-convivial-congress/?hp Coincidence or conspiracy?
Meanwhile, social unrest in Egypt is again in the news. Regular readers of this forecast will recall that revolution in Egypt was making news some months ago, about the time that rebel Uranus, disruptor of the status quo, was approaching zero degrees of Aries. Zero Aries is the degree of the Vernal Equinox, the first day of Spring (think it’s a coincidence they’re calling the unrest in Arab countries the “Arab Spring”)? A planet near zero degrees of Aries tends to call attention to itself — big time. And right now Uranus is approaching that zero degree again, as it moves backward through the sign of Aries. Uranus turns direct on December 10th, so we may well see more big news of social unrest/rebellion around that date — in Egypt and elsewhere, too. Here’s an example of unrest in Wisconsin, in which over 25,000 people gathered over the weekend to support a petition to recall Governor Scott Walker, suggesting difficulties that were anticipated for Gov. Walker around the early part of 2012 may well come to pass http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/feingold-signs-walker-recall-petition-to-kick-off-madison-rally-pu34cfr-134174313.html Revolution Earth? Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 11/18/2011 & The Weekend
/in The ForecastNote a potential challenge to your New Moon agenda which may be presented by the Third Quarter Moon at 10:09AM ET and think about spending the next week wrapping that agenda up. On the East Coast, get it off your desk by 2:06PM ET, if you can. On the West Coast, you may be in for a long, spacey lunch hour. Moon goes void at 2:06PM ET and enters Virgo at 5:19PM ET, suggesting a weekend vibe that craves organization and perfection against a backdrop of fantasy, rarefied art and other rose-tinted, intangible escapes.
If you don’t know what that means, you’re not alone. Yesterday CNBC’s Jim Cramer, a stock market guy who freely admits he is supposed to know things, confessed he had no explanation for why the markets are behaving the way they are, because apparently they are not behaving the way many experts think they should. “Confused” was the word he used, if memory serves.
Allegations and revelations of fraud, bewilderment and deception litter the front pages. “(New York City Comptroller) John Liu’s Credibility” http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/18/opinion/john-lius-credibility.html?hp Courts that are supposed to be open to the public mysteriously are not http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/18/nyregion/at-new-york-family-courts-rule-for-public-access-isnt-heeded.html?hp Yet another investment manager is charged with fraud http://dealbook.nytimes.com/2011/11/17/manager-who-claimed-to-own-facebook-shares-charged-with-fraud/?hpw — as is an ex-President of the Philippines http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2011/11/17/world/asia/AP-AS-Philippines-Arroyo.html?hp Meanwhile, in my own personal world, I have trouble remembering how to spell “Philippines”.
Enjoy the next few days of this potential magical mystery tour with patience and extra-awareness. Mercury is slowing down, about to turn retrograde early Thursday morning. Our minds may need extra time to process information. Moon goes void on Sunday at 5:21PM ET, entering Libra at 8:16PM ET. That’s a rest period, with no holiday impulse shopping, if you please. Chill.
Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 11/17/2011: Pride, Prejudice and Newt Gingrich
/in The ForecastThis morning the Moon in regal, dramatic Leo is running wild in the heavens, suggesting a big call for attention in areas related to being loved and adored. An obsessive-compulsive connection from this needy emotional drive to nebulous Neptune suggests a strong possibility of escapism, fantasy and/or idealism. The plus side? An abundance of creativity which can be channeled into your latest project, especially if it has a spiritual/non-material base. By the end of the day, more idealism needing to be aired in the forum of public fantasy. And the potential for a jolly good time.
Speaking of over-the-top fantasy and delusion, consider the horoscope of Newt Gingrich, which has been discussed in recent months in this forecast. An obsessive connection between Mars (action) and nebulous Neptune suggest great charisma that could be the envy of any showman, for better or for worse. His Moon in Sagittarius suggests he absolutely, positively must tell the world what he thinks — and it, too — along with his chatty Gemini Sun, is under Neptune’s spell. Big emotions are part of the picture, suggested by a hook-up between Venus and Pluto — in the sign of Leo. Brilliant? Glib? Sure, as suggested by Mercury (mind) hooked up with Uranus (genius, rebel) in smooth-talking Gemini, which is also his Sun Sign. Birthday: June 17, 1943. Why all this talk about Newt? Look no further than today’s front page. Does his horoscope come to life in the op-ed as described above? http://campaignstops.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/11/16/professor-of-profits/?hp
