Friday 2/17/2023 & the Long Holiday Weekend: New Moon in Pisces, with Squirrel

TGIF!!

Here’s what we can expect on this holiday weekend (in the U.S.), with its New Moon in Pisces, happening on Monday.

  • FRIDAY: A quiet morning and afternoon in the cosmic sandbox. Moon makes a cooperative connection with visionary Neptune at 3:15 PM ET, followed by another one with Venus (women, social graces, arts, money, values) at 8:06 PM ET. Humming in the background is this week’s sextile between Mercury (how we need to think) and Jupiter (reward, expansion), suggesting potential big news in sports, courts, the media and foreign affairs. An intense focus may direct the rest of the night, as Moon meets up with Pluto at 11:17 PM ET…with Pluto now at the verrrrrrrry last degree of Capricorn. What does that mean? I’ll tell you in the news section below.
  • SATURDAY: Moon enters Aquarius at 12:34 AM ET, now needing to be appreciated for its unique social significance within a larger group. There’s no Moon void to discourage an impulse to snap up yard sale bargains, if this is your thing. Moon connects happily with Jupiter at 3:50 PM ET and meets up with Mercury at 5:35 PM ET, buzz, buzz, buzz. We are at the end of the lunar cycle, with little light from the Moon. A “dead Moon” is apt for wrapping up tasks initiated on the last New Moon. It’s good for flying under the radar, and you can bet that Some People are intentionally doing just that. Meanwhile, at 5:34 PM ET, the Sun leaves Aquarius for Pisces, sign of all the fishies in the sea.
  • SUNDAY: Moon square Uranus at 12:41 AM ET, surprise, surprise…though it should be good for late-night comedy shows. An easy flow of action is supported by Moon’s trine to Mars at 1 AM ET. Depth — in matters of social expression, money, women and values — drives this day, reflecting a sextile between Venus and Pluto, exact at 12:04 PM ET. Whatever the Moon-Uranus square disrupted, a conjunction between the Moon and Saturn at 9 PM ET now seeks to control. Chill during the three-hour Moon void. At 11:55 PM ET, Moon enters Pisces, seeking to identify with ideals and feelings, feelings…nothing more than feelings. This would also reflect the last full day of Venus in Pisces. Venus enters Aries at 2:55 AM ET on MONDAY and I’ll tell you about that — and the  New Moon in Pisces that will have happened less than an hour earlier — in the next forecast.
  • MONDAY: It’s Presidents’ Day in the United States, when we honor the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington, neither of whom were actually born on February 2oth. Lincoln’s horoscope is here, if you’re interested. At 2:05 AM ET, the New Moon in Pisces begins. Less than an hour later, Venus leaves Pisces and enters Aries. Watch, as social expression over the next few weeks reflects the passionate, fiery needs of Venus in the sign of the impulsive, me-me-me-first warrior. Venus will be in Aries until March 16th.

Here is the chart for the New Moon, set in Washington, D.C.:

Observations:

  • Venus is at the verrrry end of Pisces and at the root of this chart. She is literally minutes away from entering Aries, and thus demanding our attention at the Aries Point. The last degree of any sign is a crisis point. We see potential for matters involving Venusian concerns — women, money, values, arts — that are also related to Pisces themes — empathy, victims, oceans, etc. — to have a sense of urgency…and they are about to change. Venus in Pisces is high-functioning; Venus in Aries is not as high-functioning. Fun fact: Venus is at 29 Pisces, which is the Ascendant of the chart for the 1973 Roe v. Wade SCOTUS ruling. If we have life-changing events in matters related to women’s reproductive rights that take a turn for the worse during this lunar cycle, I will not be surprised. In this horoscope, Venus rules matters related to workers, health, service, enslavement, benefactors and groups of like-minded souls.
  • Mars is right in our face in this chart. It’s on the Descendant, in the house related to partnerships and open enemies. Fightin’ words, probably, with Mars in blah blah blah Gemini.
  • Mercury is square to disruptor Uranus, and will next trine Mars. Innovative/revolutionary thinking finds an easy flow through action.
  • A Pisces Moon needs to identify and work with impressions and ideals. Pisces keywords include empathy, endings, spirits of all kinds,  suffering, at-one-ment, victimization, refugees and other displaced persons society tends to hide under the nearest rug (or hospital or prison or religious institution or subconscious).
  • The New Moon is at 1 Pisces, the beginning of the sign. It’s also a SuperMoon, meaning it’s unusually close to Earth and thus has greater gravitational pull. Lots of free will at play in the big seeds that are being planted now. Where are they being planted? In areas related to mindset, communication and transportation.
  • The Sabian Symbol for the New Moon is “a squirrel hiding from hunters.” This is an image of common sense in the face of possible danger, say Sabian Sage Blain Bovee. We are advised to watch for themes of hunters and the hunted, cross-hairs, crossfire and caution when navigating through traffic. These Sabian Symbols often show up in the headlines literally, so keep an eye out for people named Hunter.
  • You are more personally affected by seed-planting opportunity of the New Moon if you were born in the first few days of Pisces, Sagittarius, Gemini and Virgo, or if you are Mitch McConnell, Kamala Harris, Bruce Willis, Mitt Romney and former Congressman and civil rights activist John Lewis (it doesn’t matter that he’s dead, as the horoscope lives forever).

And now, the news.

You’ll find a ton of news in Episode 25 of Off the Charts: A Stellar Newscast, a joint effort between myself and Whitney McKnight. We are renegades from the corporate media and we are astrologers who can tell you why things are happening in the news, often before they happen. We also laugh a lot, and hope you will, too, while finding us informative and worthwhile.  For as Whitney writes in this week’s show notes, “nothing done with love is ever a waste of time.”

Meanwhile, here are a few headlines we didn’t have room for in this week’s show. All reflect the reality check or gravitas potential of Sun conjunct Saturn on the heels of Venus conjunct Neptune (pixie-dust, idealism, unconditional love).

Anyhoo….

And if you’re curious to know what all of these planetary patterns mean for you and your own personal horoscope, here’s the 411 on consultations. I do plan to raise my rates sometime around the Vernal Equinox as a birthday gift to myself, so if you know you’d like to book a consultation this year, but aren’t ready to put it on the calendar, you can purchase a gift certificate at current prices and redeem it when you are ready.

Thank you for reading this forecast — and sharing it with your friends. Referrals are the BEST!!!
