Sunday 11/30/2019: Jupiter in Capricorn; Neptune Direct Makes News; a Hint of 2020

Happy Saturday — and by the time you read this, it will be Sunday. Why? Because that’s how long it will take to connect this new domain name  — https://elisabethgrace.com — with Mailchimp. I do hope you enjoy the new design, with dedicated pages for events, etc.  Any suggestions for how to make the site even better? Fire away!

The Moon is in Aquarius, driving the day with its need for social significance, as it shakes up the system. Connect with friends and other like-minded souls. On SUNDAY, Moon squares Mars at 6:43 AM ET, facilitating action, for better or for worse, but the rest of the day is free of lunar speed bumps.

MONDAY begins with a challenging aspect (a square) between the Moon and Mercury (how we need to think). Both planets are in Fixed Signs (Aquarius and Scorpio, respectively), which in plain English means that neither one is inclined to budge from its position. One demands freedom and social significance; the other demands depth and control. Moon goes void on this pattern at 7:27 AM ET for the rest of the business day. Astrologer Rockie Gardiner (whom many will remember from LA Weekly’s Rockie Horoscope) would thus call Monday a bit of a bust. Save the launch of your important initiative for TUESDAY, when the Moon will be fully focused in Pisces as of 2:11 AM ET. So if your travel plans are impacted by SUNDAY’s big storms, rest assured it’ll be A-OK if you aren’t at the office on Monday.

When the Moon is void of course – i.e., wandering without focus at the end of a zodiac sign, it is best to stick with routine concerns and roll with any twists or flakes that may disrupt efforts to move forward in straight line. If you’re a writer or a creative type, voids are great for drafting and noodling. The important thing to remember — is to CHILL over any perceived crisis. It is likely to dissipate once the void is over.

MONDAY is also when the biggest planetary shift of the week occurs. At 1:20 PM ET Jupiter leaves Sagittarius and enters Capricorn. In the language of astrology, Jupiter refers to luck and expansion (for better or for worse) and what we need as a reward. As the biggest planet in our solar system, Jupiter would like to believe it will be rewarded simply by being a ginormous ball of hot air — albeit an enthusiastic and righteous one.  Not that I’m saying Jupiter believes or does anything. People do and believe things — not planets.  Astrology is a language of symbols. Got that?

Jupiter is at home is Sagittarius, the optimistic archer that aims for the stars and often trips over its feet. Capricorn has a different way of operating. It requires planning, strategy and hard work — with a focused goal that grants status and authority, along with achievement. Capricorn is an old goat that heads straight for the top of the mountain. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, a planet that symbolizes structure, controls and a keen awareness that here on Spaceship Earth, we only have so much time. Those who can play by the rules of Capricorn’s games in 2020 may well be rewarded for their efforts. Meanwhile, as the planet that symbolizes expansion, Jupiter’s sojourn in Capricorn is likely to be accompanied by boundary-pushing developments in matters of government, authority, patriarchy, the elderly, knees, bones, skin, teeth, self-deprecating humor — and still more keywords that may be found here.

But wait — there’s more. As Avid Readers well know, Saturn and Pluto are already in Capricorn — reflecting the streamlining of authority, power and resources in the extreme. And by “streamlining” I mean “in the hands of the few.” However, Saturn will not be in Capricorn for all of 2020. It dips briefly into Aquarius on March 22nd — just after the Vernal Equinox and stays there until July 2nd. It retrogrades back into Capricorn, returning to Aquarius on December 17th, remaining there until March 2023.

Saturn is high-functioning in Aquarius, just as it is in Capricorn. But its agenda is quite different. A person born with Saturn in Aquarius needs needs needs to be helpful in their vocation. Structures are great, but they need to serve humanity. My sense is that we will see a hint of humanitarianism that is likely to drive a big part of 2021-2023. That hint is likely to show up between March 22nd and July 2nd. Between July 2nd and December 16th I expect we will see a push back from “Establishment” types who are more comfortable with the needs of Saturn in Capricorn. For those born in the last five days of Capricorn, Cancer, Aries and Libra — as well as the first few days of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius, 2020 will be a significant year. Meanwhile…

Jupiter was last in Capricorn in 2008. That’s when U.S. banks were bailed out by U.S. taxpayers, in the form of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act and the Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP). Hmmm. Pluto was in transition in 2008, going back and forth at the end of Sagittarius and very early Capricorn. In other words, it was consistent with a demand for prominent attention in matters of extreme power and resources in government and corporations, including a near-breakdown.  Hmmm. 2008 was also when Barack Obama won his first presidential election. Jupiter will be in Capricorn until December 20th. On December 21st — the Winter Solstice — it meets up with Saturn in an extremely significant alignment known as a Great Conjunction.

There will be more to say about Jupiter and Saturn in future forecasts. For now, let’s look at…

…the news.

First, I confess I am not always thinking of planetary patterns when I anticipate what we’re likely to see in the headlines. Sometimes I just type what seems apt, like when I wrote that patterns on Thursday and Friday were apt “for getting the word out to rally the troops” — and then P45 makes a surprise visit to a military base in Afghanistan, a place he’d never visited. Having written that forecast, I can’t say I was surprised.

With Neptune turning direct, we’d expect a truckload of conspiracy (scandal and fraud), and with Mercury (information) so well-supported over the past week and this week, we expect a ton of dirt:

Jupiter refers to whales — and at the end of Sagittarius, Jupiter is demanding extra focus. Once upon a time, a narwhal whale tusk was believed to have magical properties, as might be associated with Neptune. And so…

In other news…

Wretchedly excessive and prominently luxurious (Venus-Jupiter at the Aries Point) plus Neptune glamour equals

File under Neptune’s potential for total delusion:

Meanwhile…

And finally…was it coincidence or conspiracy that the book I was drawn to read on Thanksgiving was Above the Line by Shirley MacLaine? It was sooooo Neptune direct — about her experience making a movie on the Canary Islands, which some say was once part of Atlantis. The shoot was plagued by financing woes — and people and things not being as they seemed. It was published in 2016 — before the election. Near the end of the book, she writes, “I feel a catastrophic change coming. I feel 2017 to 2020 is the turning point. Then there will be a new world…I would like to see what the realignment of countries will look like.”

And so on. It was interesting to read MacLaine’s musings now, in December 2019.

Ms. MacLaine was recently interviewed in the NYT Sunday magazine — still going strong at 85. Take a look at her horoscope and you might notice that she has the same Ascendant and Midheaven as Rudy Giuliani, activated right this minute by Jupiter. So of course she was being interviewed to promote the release of a new movie, Noelle.
