Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 12/17/2013: Full Moon in Gemini; Rebels (Uranus) in the News

A superbuzzed Moon in mercurial Gemini waxed Full at 4:28AM ET, then promptly went void with a sigh. That gives us almost nine hours of time to absorb whatever illumination we received on the projects launched a couple of weeks ago. If there’s a slow start to your morning routine — or an odd twist — or a crisis that crops up that turns out to be much ado about nothing, it’s a typical Moon-void experience.  You’ll feel the pull of this Full Moon more personally if you have planets or angles at 26 degrees of Gemini, Pisces, Sagittarius or Virgo.

The day will feel more “in gear” once the Moon enters Cancer at 1:17PM ET. The Moon rules Cancer, so this is generally a comfortable placement. It suggests a need to focus on emotional security — home, family, Mom & apple pie — and tonight that focus may be rather dreamy, given a harmonious flow between the Moon and nebulous Neptune. Closer to midnight and into Wednesday morning, however, the sensitive Moon clashes with willful Mars (just before midnight) and then is challenged by the Uranus-Pluto square. Themes of empowerment and emancipation —  on the plus side; a jarring disruption  — on the down side. Those born with 8-12 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn in their horoscopes are likely to feel the jolts more than most.

There were plenty of disruptive headlines reflecting rebel Uranus in pioneering Aries turning direct today at 12:39PM ET, and I imagine we’ll see more after this forecast is posted. First, a federal judge is thinking that perhaps what the NSA is doing by indiscriminately collecting the phone records of everyone and their dog…well…it might be unconstitutional. Then Pope Francis replaced a very conservative U.S. cardinal on “a powerful Vatican committee” with a more moderate one. This action, says the NYT, “was taken by church experts to be a signal that Francis is willing to disrupt the Vatican establishment in order to be more inclusive.” Disrupt the establishment! Thank you, Uranus in Aries (square Pluto in “Establishment” Capricorn. And just last week, the Pope was named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year — and the five runner-ups are all upstarts, too.

Yet another disruptor of the status quo making headlines is Sister Megan Rice, the 83-year-old nun who faces a possible 30 years in prison after “breaking into a sensitive nuclear facility to stage a protest.” An in-depth interview was published yesterday; she is due to be sentenced next month.

And OMG, how fitting can it be that Dennis Rodman is heading back to North Korea — the story just hit the wires. I could write a whole article about Rodman’s horoscope, but for now, here’s thumbnail sketch. Moon and Sun are both in Taurus — and doesn’t he look like a bull in that photo (see link to horoscope). This horoscope needs material security and we’d expect it to be quite conservative and resistant to change. But with rebel Uranus squaring his Taurus Sun, we’d expect him to also be quite unconventional and fiercely independent. Nebulous Neptune is right at the top of his horoscope — there’s the magnetism and bewildering aura. Who is this guy and what is he really about? His Capricorn Ascendant, along with a potent Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in the First House suggests a need for a bold statement of purpose and a need to be seen as someone who can make it happen. He means business — never mind the Neptune and Uranus razzle-dazzle. The Jupiter-Saturn conjunction is opposed by willful Mars in dramatic Leo, a placement that allows him no small sense of entitlement. The Mars-Jupiter connection suggests exuberance and an expansive application of will; the Mars-Saturn connection suggests discipline and the potential for frustration, rigidity or militancy.

Back in September I was fascinated to note transiting Saturn hooking up with Rodman’s Neptune and Midheaven. Saturn on the MC suggests being at “the top of one’s game”; Saturn to Neptune can be…weird. Puts his friendship with Kim Jong-un in perspective, doesn’t it? Next year Rodman’s Ascendant and Venus will be supercharged by the Uranus-Pluto square…and I mean all through 2014 and into 2015. I expect a dramatic change of identity perspective and a need for empowered social expression. His Mercury (mindset, communication) will be hooked up with nebulous Neptune in 2014 as well. This can be inspiring, creative or just really “out there”….this is a horoscope to watch over the next couple of years.
