Friday 1/31/2020 & the Weekend: Poppies

TGIF!

Here’s a recap for today and the weekend:

Potential power plays, catharses and/or authoritative advances this morning, as the Moon makes its weekly clash with Pluto and Saturn at 6:10 AM and 9:24 AM ET, respectively. Moon is in Aries, so whatever comes out of someone’s mouth is likely to be me-me-me-oriented. Upside potential: a courageous initiative. One can only hope.  Moon goes void at 10:09 AM ET — on a harmony with Mercury. Get the word out — and then chill, chill, chill for the rest of business day. Stick to routine concerns and avoid making mountains out of molehills. At 7:28 PM ET, Moon enters Taurus, determined to build and maintain the status quo. Such efforts may be challenged by a jolt or other upset around…

  • SATURDAY — …as the Moon meets up with rebel Uranus at 1:10 AM ET. The next aspect to the Moon is at 8:42 PM ET, when the security-seeking needs of the Taurus Moon challenge the Sun. If there’s a conflict to be faced in your own personal world, know that much can be done to restore the status quo in late evening and all through…
  • SUNDAY –…as sextiles (harmony) among Venus and Pluto-Saturn suggest healing, emoting, communication and cooperation — possibly to the advantage of the Powers That Be. The Taurus Moon is well-supported by other planets all through the day — make the most of it. The upside of a weekend with a Taurus Moon? It’s an apt time to indulge in pleasures of the senses: good food, wine, sweet music — and a snuggle with your sweetie.

No Moon void on Monday means no sleeping in. It enters Gemini at 6:29 AM ET, giving us plenty to talk about for the first half of the work week.

And now, the news.

When Neptune makes a hard aspect to a planet, the effect can be similar to what Dorothy and her traveling companions encountered in the Deadly Poppy Field:

All across the meadows, many poppies blossomed, and that were so hypnotic and brilliant in color they nearly dazzled Dorothy’s eyes. “Aren’t they beautiful?” the girl asked her companions, as she breathed in the spicy scent of the big, bright flowers.“―The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1900)

Oh, what’s happening? I’m so sleepy, I can’t run anymore. Oh please, I have to rest for just a minute, Toto, where’s Toto? Yawn…“―Dorothy Gale (1939)

Neptune, of course, rules opiates — and opium, which comes from poppies. And on Tuesday morning, Neptune squared Mars, the planet of assertion and action. One potential is to take the wind out of our sails, ’cause what’s the use and why bother?

UPDATE: Brexit. It’s really happening and…oh well. Britain leaves the UK at 11 PM local time on Friday, January 31st. Here’s what the chart looks like, and it’s extraordinary:

Look at the bottom of this chart and notice the cluster of planets around the cusp of the 4th house — a.k.a. the IC. Pluto and Saturn are right on it. The 4th refers to home, family and  homeland. The Pluto-Saturn connection screams “tear down and renovation; restructuring.” Wild, huh? The Moon is in the 7th house (but Jupiter is not aligned with Mars). Moon is at 29 Aries — the last degree of the me-me-me-first, pioneering, possibly rash sign. Yup. That’s what Brexit is all about: Britain first, right?

The Moon will improve in condition when it moves into Taurus, and seeks to establish the status quo. Trouble is, there are a lot of bumps to deal with through 2020, as the Moon will meet up with Uranus (surprise!) and Pluto will be tearing up the floorboards and the plumbing as it goes over this chart’s IC more than once this year. The Sun, however, is severely challenged in Aquarius — and it is not connected to any other planet in the chart. That’s what we have in the chart for the 2017 inauguration of P45 — an isolated Sun in Aquarius. How is that going for us? The one helpful pattern here is that the chart ruler is Venus in Pisces — and it is in an easy alignment with the Lean Mean Meet-Up that is tearing up the plumbing. Still, sweet Venus in Pisces will be forever transformed.

Meanwhile…

Remember how I said that Mars square Neptune was likely to reflect “peaceful initiatives?” Have you seen the special Brexit 50p coin with this sappy engraving: “Peace prosperity friendship with all nations”   Yes, it’s grammatically incorrect — but oh…what’s the use? “Britain’s Brexit Shrug, “Just Get On With It.”

UPDATE: on Israel — and other peace initiatives. Avid Readers will recall I’ve been saying since last spring that January would be an interesting month for Israel. Why? Because, like the Brexit chart, it has transiting Saturn and Pluto on its IC (and squaring its Ascendant), suggesting restructuring and renovating. And this week, Benjamin Netanyahu, the indicted-on-corruption-charges acting prime minister visited the White House, where P45 announced a peace plan in which Israel would annex more territory in the West Bank, and the Palestinians would get…not much. The only thing that’s perfect here is the timing. Otherwise, it’s a Mars-Neptune con (says The Guardian)Here is Israel’s horoscope.

In other news, the Senate will vote tomorrow on whether to call witnesses in its impeachment trial. The early morning should be quite interesting, with the Moon challenged by Saturn-Pluto, as I said. John Bolton‘s horoscope is certainly ripe for an emotional catharsis or power play in the next 48 hours…but who knows. He just landed in DC after a visit to Austin….and this is what happened on the plane home.

When the Senate convenes at 1 PM, the Aries Moon will be void. Maybe a surprise twist…or maybe more meh — from those who should really care more about the country than their me-me-me-first impulses. If they are still talking around 8 PM ET, see if you notice a shift in tone and focus, as the Moon will have changed signs.

Lamar Alexander (R-TN) was all over the news this evening for saying that the House managers presented a ton of evidence to prove that P45 did what they said he did…but it wasn’t unlawful enough to warrant removal from office. Yes. So what. Big deal. No more witnesses for him. As for why Alexander got so much attention (compared to Susan Collins, who said “Ayuh”  to witnesses), well here is his horoscope. Venus is on the Midheaven, squaring his Libra Ascendant — all at the Aries Point. That’s a screaming call for attention and it will be eclipsed on the Summer Solstice. Rebel Uranus is stirring up the hornet’s nest that is Alexander’s Mercury-Mars-Pluto pile-up in Leo. Yes, this man can get away with murder. And all of that regal bearing is made even grander by a supercharged connection with expansive Jupiter. Meanwhile, wiggy Neptune is square to his Gemini Moon — in his birth chart and by transit. We see the potential for bewildering blah blah blah.

We are going to have incredible stories to tell our grandchildren.

Meanwhile, these 76 photos of adorable baby animals will lift your spirits, as will a consultation to discuss your personal prospects in this important seed-planting year. Here’s the 411.
