Monday 11/21/2022: Sneak Peek at the Week; New Moon in Sagittarius; Jupiter Direct; Mars Square Neptune in the News

It’s Monday. Do you know where your planets are?

First — a podcast alert! Whitney & I released Episode 20 of Off the Charts: A Stellar Newscast, and word on the street is that it’s our best one yet. We are THRILLED by the response — and even more excited by Avid Listeners who are backing words of praise with pledges of financial support. Thank you for letting us know that these astrological insights are literally worthwhile.

Second — another podcast alert! I was a guest on Christi Clemons Hoffman’s “Radiate Wellness” podcast — radiating clarity in a chat recorded before Election Day. Christi is a healer on a multitude of levels, and her podcast archives are stuffed to the gills with fascinating guests.

The Libra Moon was void this morning, reflected by any wandering start you may have had to this Thanksgiving holiday week. Hopefully you rolled with any twists and flakes, and didn’t make a mountain out of a molehill. At 12:15 PM ET, Moon entered Scorpio, seeking to be appreciated for its depth and substance. The only aspect for the rest of the day is a meet-up between Mercury (how we need to think) and Venus (who, what and how we need to love) in boundary-pushing, righteously opinionated Sagittarius. The sky’s the limit — and we’ll see that reflected in what is expressed in the headlines.

Highlights this week are:

  • Mercury conjunct Venus — at 5:54 PM ET on Monday
  • Sun enters Sagittarius on Tuesday
  • New Moon in Sagittarius on Wednesday
  • Jupiter turns direct on Wednesday

Note that there are no exact aspects among the planets (except those involving the Moon) from Tuesday (11/22) until next Monday (11/28)  That’s seven days, and what I’ve noticed during these apparent lulls in planetary action is a release of energy not unlike a glacier suddenly collapsing into the sea. Just like that. The landscape is forever changed. Exhibit A: the last lull coincided with the home invasion and assault on Speaker Pelosi’s husband. That attack was not uniformly condemned by leaders of the Republican Party, and that is what made it a game-changer. How times have changed since August 2011, when then-Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was warmly received by both parties upon her return to Congress, seven months after surviving an attempted assassination.

The pattern that will be exact next Monday is the second trine between Mars (now retrograde) and Saturn. By “second,” I mean the second trine in the current Mars retrograde cycle. The first trine happened on September 28th. This trine suggests an easy flow of airy energy — the kind you’d expect from a hurricane, commanded by a five-star general.

Later that week, on December 1st, the total lunar eclipse we had on Election Day will be activated by rebel Uranus. We may be surprised by news related to actions taken on November 8th. We have other reasons to expect provocative and potentially bewildering headlines that week, as Mercury opposes Mars on November 29; followed by Venus opposing Mars and Mercury squaring Neptune on December 1st...and Neptune, master of the sublime and the surreal, turns direct on December 3rd. Get out your rose-colored glasses.

As for THIS WEEK…

  • TUESDAY: Sun enters Sagittarius at 3:20 AM ET. Woot! Whereas Scorpio seeks to control and master; Sagittarius seeks to influence through inspiration — even if it trips over its feet in the process. Whereas Scorpio may be suspicious and keeps its cards close to its chest, Sagittarius expresses optimism — and its opinions. Even if its foot lands in its mouth. If you are a Sagittarius born two thirds of the way into the sign (around December 12th),  you may be feeling a need for a vision — or simply lost.  Same goes for Virgo, Pisces and Geminis born around the 12th of their birth months. When will the dreamy clouds disperse?  Here’s the 411 on personal consultations.
  • TUESDAY: Note the potential for fits and starts in the afternoon, as the stubborn Scorpio Moon is opposed by Uranus (surprise!) at 4:24 PM ET, followed by an effort to regain control and/or cut losses at 9:32 PM ET, as Moon squares Saturn.
  • WEDNESDAY: By now we are in the dark of the Moon — and the end of the lunar cycle. With little light, it’s an apt time for clandestine meetings and actions you’d rather fly under the radar. Early morning patterns among the Moon, Neptune and Pluto suggest dreamy depths and possibly deceptive power plays. Moon trines Jupiter — oh joy oh joy — at 1:15 PM ET possibly facilitating a buoyant start to the Thanksgiving holiday. Moon then goes void…but only briefly (blink, and you’ll miss it). At 3:15 PM ET, Moon soars into Sagittarius, challenging you to broaden your mind and boundaries. Get out in nature; fly about the country. By now — and all last week, frankly — we are seeing the reflection of Jupiter — expansion and reward — in Pisces (empathy, oceans, spirits of all kinds and zero boundaries, etc.), blaring like a car horn as it slows to a virtual standstill and prepares to turn direct at 6:02 PM ET. Pisces refers to THE END, by the way — and for some, it may feel like it’s the end of the world. Here’s what was written about Jupiter’s sojourn through Pisces at the end of December 2021.   Jupiter will be in Pisces until December 20th. Meanwhile, this blaring Jupiter in Pisces is key pattern in the chart for the New Moon in Sagittarius.

Here is the New Moon in Sagittarius chart for 5:57 PM ET, in Washington, D.C.:

Observations:

  • Mars is right on the Ascendant, painting a picture of fighting words and aggressive action. Mars rules the area of this chart that refers to administrative bodies, e.g., Congress. Mars is separating from Neptune — a.k.a a delusional or dreamy fog. Mars is trine to Saturn, which rules our fearless leader (Biden), foreign affairs and debt/taxes. I’ll take that as a positive sign for the party that controls the House until January 3rd.
  • The New Moon, Mercury and Venus are in the 6th house –– labor, processing systems and health concerns. That’s where seeds may be planted. Moon in the 6th suggests these areas are the peoples’ focus.
  • Pluto is in the 8th house — of death and debt — perhaps an energy drain in these matters.
  • Jupiter is standing still — highly functional in Pisces, and on the cusp of the 11th house — benefactors, administrative bodies. Another possible hopeful omen for the party in charge.
  • Rebel Uranus is in the 12th, determined to shake up the system.
  • The Sabian Symbol for Jupiter at its station is “a prism,” and it sure does reflect the fragmenting of information channels I’ve mentioned previously, especially since Emperor Elon appointed himself Chief Twit. You are more personally affected by Jupiter’s station if you are Liz Cheney, Edward Snowden or President Biden.
  • The Sabian Symbol for the New Moon is “the ocean covered in whitecaps,” and we last worked with it on the Full Moon of May 2016. around the time of that year’s Democratic National Convention. N.B.: I didn’t break that particular lunation down, but astrologer Lynda Hill did — with intriguing similarities to the November 2022 New Moon. Whitecaps on the ocean are caused by turbulence in the air, and it’s interesting to see this Symbol pop up when Jupiter is at the verrrrrrrrrry end of totally wet Pisces,  and Mars in airy Gemini squares all-wet Neptune, trining Saturn in Aquarius.
  • I did not know this, but “whitecap” is the name of “a former lawless, secret organization in America…[that] engaged in violent crimes against individuals deemed morally unacceptable,” reports Sabian Sage Blain Bovee. “Whitecaps on the ocean are “froth” — i.e., perhaps foolish and trivial — and “only a surface manifestation hiding a much deeper, more powerful current.” We are advised to be mindful of what’s beneath the surface of everything, including anonymous generosity. Double hmm. This New Moon falls within a couple of degrees of President Biden’s 3 Sagittarius Ascendant, and it squares VP Harris’ 2 Pisces Midheaven.

Back to the Forecast:

  • THURSDAY: What a fun day for a high-flying Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, as Moon in Sagittarius meets up with Mercury and Venus at 8:25 AM ET and 9:48 AM ET. Count your blessings with gusto. If you’re shopping online for Black Friday sales, do it in the evening, as Moon sextiles Saturn at 11:15 PM ET.
  • FRIDAY: A turbulent early morning and possibly over-the-top afternoon. Opinionated Moon in Sag picks a fight with clever Mars in Gemini at 1: 35 AM ET, then obfuscates by square to Neptune at 4:24 AM ET. You could, however, note your dreams. Moon squares Jupiter at 2:21 PM ET — that’s the marker suggesting indulgence, with a buy it now, ’cause you’ll never have the chance again feeling — courtesy of Jupiter at the end end end of Pisces. After a two-hour Moon void, Moon enters Capricorn at 4:18 PM ET, now focused on practical strategy for Making Things Happen.
  • SATURDAY: Capricorn Moon may be running wild on its aforementioned agenda, with little support from the other kids in the sandbox. However, there is that easy flow of militantly disciplined energy between Mars and Saturn, each in the element of air — i.e., words, words, words as swords, swords, swords. A trine between Moon and Uranus at 6:34 PM ET invites unconventional allies to the (bargaining) table.
  • SUNDAY: Note your dreams, as a sextile from Neptune to the Moon at 5:05 AM ET channels the divine. A power play or catharsis may arise around 11:42 AM ET, sparked by the Moon’s meet up with Pluto. An action plan is expanded around 3:11 PM ET, as Moon sextiles Jupiter,  and goes void for about 2 hours. Moon enters Aquarius at 5:06 PM ET — another opportunity to network and hang with your besties.

And now, the news.

Avid Readers who follow me on Twitter were treated to a stream of headline reflecting the bewildering potential of the Mars (men, sports, guns, cars) – Neptune (surreal, fraud, scandal, drugs, oceans, music, deception, alcohol, fish) square. Here’s a sampling:

This one is pure Jupiter in Pisces (empathy, suffering):

UPDATE: on Justice Samuel Alito, who is suspected source of the breach in this gifted NYT headline: “Former anti-abortion leader alleges another Supreme Court breach” This isn’t the Dobbs breach; it’s an alleged breach in the Hobby Lobby case weeks before it was released in July 2014. Quelle scandale! Oh, and the anti-abortion leader is a minister, and he wrote Chief Justice Roberts about it in July 2022, so Roberts and the NYT have been sitting on this story for some time.  We were likely to hear about Justice Alito right about now, with Jupiter almost exactly opposing his natal Mars, and we’ll be hearing from him again in January, when Jupiter will square his 1 Capricorn Ascendant and 1 Cancer Uranus.

I wrote about Alito’s horoscope in July 2014, and it fascinating to note that Saturn was at 16 Scorpio when the Burwell v. Hobby Lobby decision was handed down. That means it was eclipsed on November 8th. We may see a rush of news involving this opinion — and its reach of authority around December 1st and/or again in the third week of June 2023. Even earlier in 2023, transiting Saturn will put the squeeze on Alito’s Venus, ruler of his Midheaven, and perhaps he too, may be feeling more diminished than expansive. Same goes for Chief Justice Roberts, whose Mercury-Pluto-Saturn t-square will be receiving a potentially streamlining reality check from taskmaster Saturn.

Heather Cox Richardson’s latest Letter from an American has just hit the wires (as I continue to write, at 1 AM). She has more on what’s really shocking about the Alito breach — and what the Senate says it will do about it, if SCOTUS doesn’t. HCR’s letter also has the latest on the former guy’s business dealings with Saudi Arabia….and speaking of the former guy, note that Merrick Garland appointed a Special Prosecutor to take over whatever TFG cases the Department of Justice has been working on. Told ya last week, TFG’s horoscope was likely to be provoked.

UPDATE on Nancy Pelosi, who announced she would remain in Congress — but not as leader of the Democratic leader. Like Samuel Alito, transiting Saturn is putting the squeeze on the ruler of her Midheaven (and also on her 18 Scorpio Moon…which is also received the disruptive energy of transiting Uranus). In Episode 20 of Off the Charts: A Stellar Newscast, Whitney and I discuss what we know of the horoscope of Speaker Pelosi’s would-be successor, Hakeem Jeffries (as well as the horoscope of the 118th Congress). If you missed Speaker Pelosi’s farewell address, here is Heather Cox Richardson’s recap.

UPDATE on Walt Disney, because Avid Reader Patricia wanted to make sure I didn’t miss the earthquake that rattled Hollywood this morning: former Disney CEO Bob Iger has been persuaded to return to the Magic Kingdom just a year after calling it quits. Since his departure, (reports The Guardian), “Disney’s share price has plummeted more than 40% over the past year, wiping almost $120bn (£101bn) off its market value.”  A wipeout would be totally apt for patterns that are hot in company founder Walt Disney’s horoscope — and no, it doesn’t matter that Walt is dead. The horoscope lives forever, doncha know.

I thought I’d written about Walt Disney’s horoscope back in May, when Ron deSantis ordered the dissolution of a land-use deal that corporate Disney based its Florida operations on since 1967. However, I may have kept my observations to myself, and those would include the fact that Walt Disney’s horoscope is receiving a transit of Neptune to all the angles. Neptune dissolves whatever it touches. It can be quite bewildering — and it’s interesting that Bob Iger, corporate Disney’s designated savior, is receiving the heavy responsibility potential of transiting Saturn (in what we know of Iger’s horoscope).

Astrology is amazing.

I count you among my many blessings. Wishing you a joyful, peaceful Thanksgiving holiday (if you happen to live in America).

Thank you for reading this forecast.
