Monday 12/5/2022: Late Sneak Peek at the Week; Full Moon in Gemini; Jupiter at the End of the World (with Mercury-Venus)

It’s Monday. Do you know where your planets are?

(Eh. It’s now Wednesday).

How is your week going?

Here’s what’s been happening:

  • Mercury squares Jupiter and enters Capricorn on Tuesday
  • Full Moon in Gemini on Wednesday
  • Sun opposes Mars on Thursday
  • Venus squares Jupiter and enters Capricorn on Friday

So…big news…big revelation…big fight…ending with a big wallet or heart.

  • MONDAY: Moon in Taurus needs to preserve the status quo, and it may be in for a surprise upset or innovative twist around 12:37 PM ET, when it meets up with rebel Uranus. [UPDATE: in my world, it meant that the scene at my dentist’s office was like Grand Central at rush hour, and I was kept waiting for half an hour. No worries, because my astro-logical perspective enabled me to quickly adapt.] A streamlining effort to regain control weighs in around 8:53 PM ET, as Moon squares Saturn. [UPDATE: at a virtual meeting hosted by my co-op board, they announced a maintenance fee increase, and shareholders were permitted to ask questions only in writing via the Zoom chat room. Only the meeting moderator could see the questions. No sharing of information among residents, and everyone was muted]. Note that Mercury (how we need to think and communicate) is at the end of Sagittarius, meaning it’s getting ready to enter Capricorn…which means it’s activating the Aries Point, and thus demanding our attention. FYI, over the weekend Mercury was at 27 Sagittarius — which corresponds to the Galactic Center. The Galactic Center is the center of our Milky Way galaxy, and any planet in touch with it is thought to be on the receiving end of a powerful — albeit subtle — channel of information. What came out over the weekend? Off the top of my head, the former guy called for our Constitution to be “terminated” — to the sound of crickets from his fellow Republicans. Still, there should be plenty of big news in sports, courts, travel and publishing as…
  • TUESDAY:Mercury at the verrrrry end of righteously opinionated Sagittarius squares Jupiter (big!) at the verrrryyy end of all-wet, get me a Kleenex already, Pisces. Jupiter at the verrrrry end of Pisces may feel like the end of the world, given that Pisces is, after all, the last sign of the zodiac. For those inclined to despair, take heart. A new cycle is just around the corner – on December 21, in fact. That’s when Jupiter enters me-me-me Aries. But until then, use this information to put in perspective some of the endings we’ll be hearing about — many of which are likely to pull at our heartstrings. Pisces is nothing if not empathy, doncha’ know.
  • TUESDAY: Moon in Taurus taps into power and resources to build its needed material comfort and joy, connecting with Pluto at 9:51 AM ET and Jupiter at 2:01 PM ET.  Two hours later — at 3:48 PM ET — Moon enters Gemini, looking for chit-chat of the most informed and entertaining kind. Who knew what and when did they know it?  Ideas and communication are sure to capture our attention, especially around 5:08 PM ET, when Mercury exits Sagittarius for 0 Capricorn. Mercury (mindset) functions with greater efficiency in Capricorn, demanding earthy, proactive substance — as opposed to Mercury in Sagittarius high-flying, details-be-damned ideals. Mercury will be in Capricorn until February 11, so we’ll have plenty of time to adjust to its need for practical consideration. That’s because on December 29th, Mercury goes retrograde until January 18th — which means you can certainly extend your holiday break well into January.
  • WEDNESDAY:  A buzz of emotions is on the rise, as the Gemini Moon waxes to its fullness, exact at 11:08 PM ET. Ten minutes later, Moon meets up with Mars (in Gemini), a.k.a. the Wicked Wit of the West. Let the record show that in the horoscope for the 118th Congress, we will have this same pattern. Moon conjunct Mars in Gemini has an aggressive mental focus, if by focus we mean skimming the surface of 1001 double-talking distractions all at once. Look up at the sky tonight,  and you just might see a rare celestial event: the occultation  of Mars by the Moon. Mars is looking especially glorious in the sky because it is opposing the Sun, and thus reflecting a maximum of light back at Earth. Mars is also close to Earth, so it is especially big and bright — possibly about the shade of red that is Pantone’s color for 2023…like the chart for the Full Moon, set in Washington, DC:

A long pause…as I had to step away from my computer on Monday (as described above).

Observations:

  • Moon and Mars are exactly conjunct in the 10th house, suggesting a public illumination and/or release in matters involving “fighting words” from the past, up for a review. Fun Fact: this pattern will be repeated on January 3rd, the start of the 118th Congress.
  • We see the potential for a breakdown and falling away of outdated thought patterns in the Sabian Symbols for this Full Moon (and if you listened to Episode 21 of  Off the Charts: A Stellar Newscast, you may recall Whitney and I talked about this). The Symbols are “the head of health dissolved into the head of the mentality” (for the Gemini Moon), and “an Easter sunrise service” for the Sagittarius Sun. If you aren’t familiar with the Sabian Symbols, here’s the 411.
  • Astrologer Blain Bovee notes that the “head of health…” suggests “an outgrowth from one situation to another; from well-being into a refined intellectual awareness of an issue that comes to head.” In short, this seems to me a sign of potential progress, as outmoded concepts fall away. The “Easter sunrise service” is a “communal gathering for a ritual concerning rebirth, renewal and resurrection,” says Bovee. And so long as we are not resurrecting zombies, this sounds like progress, too. Whaddaya think? Ready to grow up and step into your own authority?
  • An image of Jedi master Obi-wan Kenobi’s demise in Star Wars comes to mind. Obi-wan sacrifices himself so that Luke, Leia, Han and Chewy can escape Darth Vader. Though his spirit lives on, his departure from the earthly plane means that Our Heroes have to “level up.” It’s time. For some reason, Bovee associates these Sabian Symbols with the Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme, interpreted here by John Lithgow. Hmm.

Back to the Forecast:

  • THURSDAY: At 12:41 AM ET, less than two hours after the Full Moon, Mars opposes the Sun. With Mars retrograde in Gemini, past feelings of anger, desire or assertion may resurface, demanding recognition and/or release. In my world, buried dissatisfaction with internet service provider Astound — f.k.a. RCN — could no longer be ignored, and I have signed up with a competitor. We’ll see how that goes…and I do have a Plan B if it doesn’t work out.  So…that’s how my Wednesday is going. You? After Thursday’s Sun-Mars face-off, an easy flow between the Moon and Saturn facilitates taking care of business. Double-check the details around noon ET, as Moon squares Neptune. An evening of indulgence may be in store as Moon opposes Venus (pleasure) and squares Jupiter (big) at 12:28 AM ET and 1:13 AM ET on…
  • FRIDAY. It’s a sneak peek at even grander indulgence (and possible generosity) suggested by Venus squaring Jupiter at 7:54 AM ET. Venus is at the end of Sagittarius, pushing boundaries of taste and opinion; Jupiter is, as noted, at the end of Pisces — perhaps feeling the ultimate in empathy. On the other hand, contact between Venus and Jupiter — the Lesser and Greater Fortunes  — can suggest a jackpot. If you have planets at the very end of Gemini, Pisces, Sagittarius and Virgo, you could try your luck on the local lotto. Meanwhile, at 2:48 AM ET Moon enters Cancer, driving the weekend with a need for home, family and emotional security.
  • FRIDAY: News about money, women, the arts and social graces should be prominent in the last few days of the week, as Venus connects with the Aries Point (explained via this link).  At 10:54 PM ET, Venus leaves Sagittarius and enters Capricorn, where who, what and how we need to love are more likely to be for the sake of social status (social climbing…to the top of Capricorn the Goat’s mountain?). Venus will be in Capricorn until January 2nd. If there’s a trend in holiday gift-giving towards that which has a useful purpose, it’ll reflect Venus (and Mercury) in Capricorn, if you ask me.
  • SATURDAY: Moon in Cancer continues on its quest for the cozy comforts of home and family. Feed your soul; deck the halls; take a break from the hurly-burly, as Beth Owl’s Daughter’s Tarot Card of the Week suggests. A dreamy trine between the Moon and Neptune at 12:18 AM ET on…
  • SUNDAY: facilitates romantic escapes, with a catharsis perhaps around 9:10 AM ET, as Moon makes its weekly clash with Pluto. The rest of the day is jovial enough, as Moon trines Jupiter (by Jove!) at 1:49 PM ET, and then goes void. At 3:08 PM ET, Moon enters Leo, looking for an excuse to party. There’s also room for meaningful communication and action among the Powers That Be, as the Sun (ego; leaders) and Saturn (authority; controls) are in a harmonious flow, exact on Monday afternoon. Ergo, no sleeping in on Monday.

And now, the news.

Neptune turned direct over the weekend. Neptune refers to conspiracy, lies, drugs, dreams, illusions, oceans, the surreal and that which is “out there.” Mercury and Venus made contact with Neptune, and this week, they connect with Jupiter. So we add themes of “BIG” to the mix, especially in areas of courts, sports, publishing and foreign affairs (as I posted on Twitter a few days ago). Finally we add the military/athletic/firearms themes of today’s Mars – Sun opposition.

Ready?

UPDATE: on Michael Avenatti, who was convicted of stealing millions from his clients in more than one case against him. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison. It’s interesting that the bubbles of his deception began to make news in late 2018, when Neptune turned direct, as it has just done. Neptune has been all over the angles of his horoscope for the past few years, suggesting potential scandal and wipe out. It will be interesting to see where he’s at two years from now — especially if he’s in the news again.

UPDATE: on others with horoscopes that have planets at the Aries Point, activated this week by Mercury and Venus…and all this month by Jupiter. File these under “I told you so,” ’cause their headline-making potential was called in advance.

UPDATE: on Raphael Warnock and Herschel Walker. We don’t have birth times for either of them, but as I said on Twitter yesterday, if I were a betting person, I would have put my two cents on the candidate with transiting Jupiter trine his natal Sun-Mercury conjunction,  and also opposing his natal Jupiter-Uranus conjunction, suggesting an attention-getting windfall opportunity. That candidate was Raphael Warnock, who gets to keep his Senate seat. But OMG…what a nail biter the returns were last night.

Finally, two silver linings to this unexpectedly delayed forecast.

First, because it’s delayed,  I can share the link to Stephen Colbert‘s amazingly-in-sync show from last night. He partnered with the USO and took a trip to the US Space Force’s base in Thule, Greenland. It’s out there — and there’s music (Neptune refers to music). The whole episode is a treat!

Second, I can link Greg Olear’s post from Sunday (which I didn’t get to reading until today). It reflects the awesomeness of the unknown (Neptune turning direct), and — and — and — what I’ve been writing about Jupiter at the verrrrrry end of Pisces being the apparent END OF THE WORLD…except it isn’t!! I don’t know how I stumbled across Olear on Substack, but I’m so glad I did. He doesn’t have a paywall, so anyone can read his weekly offerings. However, I choose to be a paid subscriber because what he writes about enriches my life in ways that mainstream media does not. I always learn something new — e.g., about a historical figure, or a pressing societal concern. And I’m delighted to share his work with you.

Here’s the 411 on personal consultations, written reports, gift certificates and other services. If you would like me to give a talk to your company or social club about the astrology of 2023, I have a PowerPoint ready to go!

Here’s the link to the Cosmic Tip Jar, where you may randomly or regularly support my efforts to keep you informed on the astonishing synchronicity of astrology and the news.

Thank you for reading this forecast, and sharing it with your friends.
