I am a reporter with a unique beat. I use my understanding of planetary cycles to provide advance notice and analysis on the Zeitgeist of the day. If you have ever wondered “why is this happening now,” my insights will transform your experience of the headlines, adding new meaning and understanding. Call it Astrology for News Junkies. If you’re curious to know why the Impossible Burger is trending…or why the outcome of the 2019 Israeli elections was likely to be a shocker …or why “Woodrow Wilson, Stud Muffin” was a New York Times headline in December 2013, you will find it here, in over a decade’s worth of historical research and reporting.
Note that I do use astrological jargon in The Forecast in my effort to show how the planetary patterns are reflected in mundane events. I explain what the jargon symbolizes, so that all who want to understand the connections between astrology and the news may do so. However, I do not use astrological jargon in personal consultations, just plain English.
Wednesday 3/27/2024: Catching Up on the News; Post-Lunar Eclipse Headlines
/in The ForecastAnd now, the news…as promised.
On Monday, I wrote this:
First, it felt as if I was directed to include the word “transportation.” I lingered over it; it felt important. Second, there is one detail I did not include yesterday, mainly because there are sooooo many details to consider in a weekly forecast, but this omitted detail turns out to have been equally important, and here it is: at 1:48 AM ET, the eclipsed Moon met up with the South Node. Remember that the South Node is a point of destruction and release. The Moon and the South Node were in Libra. Here is what the glyph for Libra looks like:
Twenty minutes before the exact conjunction of the Libra Moon and South Node (for curious astropros, I use the Mean Node), the Dali, a cargo ship, lost power — twice. The lights went out; it couldn’t be steered — and ended up veering into Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge, which collapsed in seconds, as you can see from this video. Just like that, and it could have been worse. When the ship lost power, it put out a mayday signal to the police, and they closed the bridge to traffic. It’s inspiring when the system works.
A bridge — especially this particular bridge — looks a lot like the glyph for Libra. A bridge is key (did I really just type that?) when connecting opposing sides in relationships. And now, a bridge is gone. Hmm.
Mundane astrologers are naturally all over the charts for this stupefying incident, including the time of the collision (1:28:33 AM ET, which I picked up from the video; the time the bridge officially opened (March 23, 1977), the charts for Baltimore, Salvador Dali (who may or may not be the namesake of the cargo ship), and the bridge’s namesake — Francis Scott Key, to whom we owe the war-themed lyrics of our national anthem, The Star-Spangled Banner.
Another important event involving transportation was at the U.S. Supreme Court, which heard arguments in FDA v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine. The FDA is challenging the Texas MAGA appeals court judge who ordered that the abortion drug mifepristone be taken off the market, as historian Heather Cox Richardson reports (her daily letters are must-reads for staying on top of the most significant news). How does this involve transportation? Because whilst court observers thought that the SCOTUS justices were more receptive to the FDA’s position, The Hartmann Report reminds us that SCOTUS doesn’t have to limit the FDA’s authority to achieve the goals of the anti-choice faction; that can be achieved by strictly enforcing the Comstock Act.
As I wrote a year ago:
Even without a birth time, I can appreciate Hartmann’s alert, because transiting Pluto will engage with Comstock’s Mars-Saturn square next year. This suggests extremes of force and control…but the upside potential (for women) is a potential loss (for Comstock). And starting this year, Comstock will receive a series of three hits of Jupiter and Saturn to his 17 Pisces Sun…expansion and contraction…at the same time.
Meanwhile…there’s plenty from last week, too! In no particular order:
UPDATE: on Flaco the Owl. Avid Readers will recall that New York City’s beloved bird had transiting Neptune conjunct his Mercury (and also Uranus) a few days before he died. Neptune refers to viruses, poisons, victims and confusion. Thus, it’s not surprising (albeit terribly depressing and sad), that Flaco’s necropsy report was just released, confirming what planetary patterns suggested that he:
Sometimes it feels like an embarrassment to be a member of the human race. Flaco would have been 14 years old on March 15th. He survived for barely a year in the urban jungle.
UPDATE: on Ron DeSantis, who is still the governor of Florida. Last year I noticed a significant “make nice” pattern between the Sun and Venus, exact right about now. I wondered what it could possibly reflect, since he doesn’t exactly radiate an aura of charm. How about “Disney and DeSantis settle their years-long dispute.” No more fighting in court…at least with these two parties. Judges?
UPDATE: on Ronna McDaniel, former RNC chairperson. Her Jupiter was eclipsed last October, suggesting a possible change in fortune — or expansion — at the end of the year. One change was her being pushed out at the RNC. As for expansion, she was hired last week to be a paid commentator on NBC and MSNBC…until all hell broke loose among principled people who don’t believe a person spreading lies should be honored with a paid gig at a would-be legitimate news organization. With transiting Neptune halfway between McDaniel’s Pisces Sun and Venus, we can appreciate how she could lose her way. With Saturn squaring her Saturn and soon to conjoin her Mercury, we appreciate a potential reality check. NBC announced that McDaniel would NOT be working for either NBC or MSNBC…and there was much rejoicing in the land. McDaniel was destined to attract attention at the Aries Ingress, because her Sun is either at 29 Pisces or 0 Aries.
UPDATE: on Princess Catherine. Last week she released a video in which she shared that she was diagnosed with cancer in February, and had started chemotherapy. People whose business it is to analyze “the royals” applauded her candor and solo on-camera appearance, stating:
…and reaffirming one’s own personhood would be an apt reflection of the square to her Leo Ascendant from transiting Uranus several days ago. As noted in last week’s forecast, in her horoscope, Uranus rules her 7th house of partnerships, marriage, and the general public. It also refers to surprises, and those who were previously fixated on the ridiculously doctored family photo that was pulled within hours if of its release, not to mention rumors of her husband’s infidelity, certainly were surprised and some expressed remorse. For the record, the fake family photo and rumors are an apt reflection of William’s 27 Sagittarius Ascendant receiving a square from transiting Neptune.
Meanwhile…
I spent the first full day of the astrological new year working on a stack of personalized eclipse insights whilst listening to C-Span’s audio broadcast of the House Oversight Committee’s hearing entitled “Influence Peddling: Examining Joe Biden’s Abuse of Public Office,” (ripped to shreds here by Rep. Katie Porter). Moon was in rip-roarin’ Leo, and transiting Mars traveling through the very last few degrees of Aquarius activated — as anticipated — many horoscopes who often appear in this forecast, probably because the activated planets are tied to the 27 Aquarius Moon in the U.S. Sibley chart. Here are few others: the former guy (Midheaven at 24 Taurus; Mars and Ascendant at 26 and 29 Leo); Jimmy Carter (Mars at 25 Aquarius); Bill Clinton (Sun at 26 Leo); Alex Jones (Sun-Jupiter); Michael Bloomberg (Sun at 25 Aquarius); Terry Gilliam (24 Leo Moon); Nancy Pelosi (27 Leo ASC); President Biden (Sun-Venus at 27-28 Scorpio) Mitch McConnell (26 Taurus Uranus) — and all of these placements were eclipsed in 2022, and thus are still extra-sensitive to triggers by transit.
When a planet in your horoscope receives a tough transit from Mars, it is often provocative. You could feel attacked, or a need to take a courageous stand. I told you a few weeks ago that Rep. Jim Jordan (MAGA-OH, who has yet to write a single bill that was passed in all the years he’s been in Congress), and Rep. James Comer (MAGA-KY, who chairs the Oversight Committee and has apparently “engaged in nearly identical behavior that he has hounded the president over”) were people to watch as their Leo and Aquarius Suns (respectively) were provoked by Mars this week. They will be even more provoked in a few months, when Uranus nears the end of Taurus, yippee kiii-ay-ey.
Anyhoo, Comer and Jordan have been driving the bogus Biden impeachment hearings, and the precision strikes against their bogus bogusness (and insane waste of millions of taxpayer dollars) by Democrats on the Committee are worth a watch:
The hearing was stunning and sad, but essential viewing. It made me wonder (for the umpteenth time) if Attorney General Merrick Garland is paying attention and inclined to act. As I’ve noted multiple times, in what we know of his horoscope (no birth time), it’s not been particularly dynamic, save for an opposition from Uranus to his natal 21 Scorpio Sun (which seems to be muzzled, perhaps, by his conflict-averse Libra Moon). But on March 21, he had his Jupiter Return, which usually “coincides” with expansion and reward. Then on April 1, he’ll have the first of three passes of Saturn square his Mercury at 13 Sagittarius. Mercury refers to how we need to think and communication; Mercury in Sag may focus on the big picture at the expense of essential details. Saturn on Mercury suggests streamlining, discipline and/or depression. Finally, on April 11, he’ll have the third hit of that Uranus opposition to his Sun, followed by the opposition to the Sun from Jupiter on April 18, and unless his horoscope really is in a coma, we should see something innovative, expansive, rewarding, rebellious and/or some sign of independence.
On the other hand, I just realized that the Jupiter and Saturn patterns in his horoscope are similar to what he experienced in 2016, when he was nominated to the Supreme Court — here’s that forecast. It will be interesting to see what transiting Uranus adds to the action in 2024.
In other news…
A story that should have gotten much more attention was the sudden resignation of Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-Actually), joining Rep. Ken Buck (R-Old School) in exodus. That’s four resignations in three months, and if a few more non-MAGA Republicans depart, the Democrats will elect Hakeem Jeffries to serve as Speaker. Jeffries is due for an expansive shake-up, as next month’s Jupiter-Uranus conjunction will fall on his natal Saturn. Plus, his natal Uranus at 5 Libra was just eclipsed. Late April and late May should be interesting, especially since there’s are similarly disruptive patterns in the current Speaker’s horoscope.
Elsewhere…
Last week’s conjunction between Venus and Saturn in Pisces suggested a serious focus on empathy. “Frans de Waal, who explored empathy among apes, dies at 75”
Venus refers to food; Saturn to aging. “To Live Past 100, Mangia a Lot Less: Italian Expert’s Ideas on Aging”

Monday 3/25/2024: Sneak Peek at the Week; Full Moon & Eclipse in Libra
/in The ForecastAlllrighty then!
One eclipse down, and another to go. How are you feeling today? Was your horoscope directly affected? Mine was. I made a savory lentil stew with potatoes – to keep me grounded, according to the old wives…
Planetary patterns are sparse this week:
It goes like this:
A pause, while we discuss Monday’s (today’s) Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse.
In general, lunar eclipses can function as an intense release and illumination, sometimes with heavy emotional involvement, given that the energy of a Full Moon is involved. Your coping strategy is to trust that whatever is released (which may be experienced as something — or someone — being taken away), is a necessary step in your life’s path. The illumination may be thought of as a (possibly sudden) awareness of a part of yourself or aspect of your life that needs new avenues of expression. It’s time!
Here is the chart for today’s eclipse, set in Washington, DC:

Monday 3/18/2024: Sneak Peek at the Week; Happy Aries Ingress; Sun-Neptune in the Wiggy News
/in The ForecastAlllllrighty then!
It’s the last full day of the current astrological year. The new one begins on Tuesday, when the Sun enters Aries at 11:06 PM ET. I don’t know about you, but the past week has been dizzying, reflecting the Sun-Neptune conjunction, which was the only exact aspect among the planets that did not involve the Moon. I’ve witnessed more than one event involving endings — often unexpected — as is typical of these last few days of the Sun traveling through Pisces, sign of surrender. For example, in my circle of Facebook friends and acquaintances, I was stunned to read of the sudden passing of singer/songwriter Angela McCluskey –– herself a Pisces, and a force of nature. She has left us far too soon.
Yes, it may feel like the end of the world, especially if you think of time as a linear thing. If you think of it happening in cycles, you may have faith that a new world is just around the corner.
Highlights this week:
Oh — before I forget — eclipse season is also just around the corner, and I’ve been asked if I’m offering my “eclipse special.” YES…and if you’d like a few paragraphs of handcrafted, personal insights on where the upcoming eclipses will fall in your horoscope — e.g., how and when you are likely to see them reflected in your life — you will find a button labeled “Personalized Eclipse Insights” here on this page. If I don’t have your birth data — date, time, and place — please include that with your order — or you can email it to me here.
A pause, while we discuss and review the Aries Ingress, the Aries Point and such.
Courage, self-reliance, inspiration and a pioneering spirit are keywords for the Sun in Aries, sign of the Ram — and the lamb. That’s on a good day. Otherwise, Aries falls down stairs because it’s faster than walking. They can be impatient, reckless and fierce in their belief in impossible things. Aries is the baby of the zodiac. In the Northern Hemisphere (the birthplace of Western astrology), the Sun’s ingress into Aries is a time of renewal and rebirth.
In astrology, the first day of each season (Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter) corresponds with the first day (or first DEGREE) of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, respectively. Got that? Good. These four signs are called CARDINAL signs of the zodiac, with “cardinal” here suggesting (from the Latin root of the word), “that on which something turns or depends.” Cardinal signs take ACTION. They INITIATE. Nothing happens without ACTION. And action leads to NECESSARY CHANGE. As in a change of seasons — suggested by solstices and equinoxes.
The first day of a season is prominent in our culture, right? We make a big deal over it — yes? So, in astrology, we observe that planets that are at the first degree of a cardinal sign (Aries, Cancer, Libra & Capricorn), tend to pack a more powerful, prominent punch. They suggest ACTION which leads to CHANGE — prominently! The first degree of the cardinal signs is known as the ARIES POINT. Got that?
Here is the chart for the Aries Ingress, set in Washington, DC. This is an important tool for managing expectations in these United States over the next 12 months.
Observations:
Back to the daily forecast:
And now, the news.
Here’s a super-cool item reflecting last weekend’s Mars-Sun-Uranus mash-up, suggesting innovative technology, possibly involving astrology…and why not toss in the potent communication involving news from underground suggested by the Mercury-Pluto sextile:
In the last forecast we talked about happenings in the horoscopes of Prince William and Princess Catherine. The former is in a fog; the latter needs more space; both are likely to experience these needs matters of marriage and their connection with the public. Not only that, but patterns in Catherine’s horoscope suggest an intensified excitation…oh…within hours after Stephen Colbert included in his monologue rumors of William’s affair with a certain Lady.
The Sun’s annual meet-up with Neptune “coincided” with all kinds of stories of intrigue, intangibles, wipe-outs — the usual Neptune kaleidoscope:
Here are two Venus square Uranus stories I meant to share two weeks ago, but didn’t:
Meanwhile, during last Tuesday’s all-day Moon void in Aries, these stories were making news…and it seems like nothing came of them:
In other news…
Finally…
…do you remember where you were four years ago today? Under lock down, thanks to Covid, most likely. Here is the forecast for that week...in which you’ll learn more about how eclipses operate.

Monday 3/11/2024: Sneak Peek at a Possibly Wiggy Week; SOTU, the Oscars, the Royals and More
/in The ForecastAllllrighty then!
This is the last full week of the Sun in Pisces, i.e., the end of the astrological year. Next Tuesday — on March 19th — a new cycle begins when the Sun leaves Pisces for Aries. Some people may experience the last days of Pisces as if it really is THE END — and thus conclude that this is Not A Good Thing. Sun in Pisces feels so darn much, and all that wallowing in empathy and suffering may seem overwhelming and hopeless. We are likely to see a few headlines this week of some who failed to pass the test of the Pisces upside, which is faith. Without faith, it is impossible to believe that there’s a new dawn just around the corner. But there is.
As it says in the Messiah’s Handbook,
It is appropriate for some things to end at this time. Resistance is futile — but consider this: life might be even better with wings!
This is also a week with only one exact planetary pattern among the planets, except for the Moon, and that exact pattern is days away — on Sunday morning. In my 15 years of reporting on the astonishing synchronicity of planetary patterns and the news, I’ve noticed that a several days’ stretch of no contact among the planets (save to the Moon) usually “coincides” with events akin to an ice shelf suddenly collapsing into sea. No warning — the landscape is forever changed — just like that. One example of such a week was the death of Queen Elizabeth. If an actual ice shelf collapses (as they have before under these conditions), I won’t be surprised.
Highlights this week are:
It goes like this:
And now, the news…
…from the State of the Union to Katie Britt to Nancy Mace to Viktor Orban to the Oscars and more…
…all reflecting the unique horoscopes of the parties concerned, against the backdrop of last week’s patterns:
First…file this one under “I told you so:”
Avid Readers were advised that the White House “pill mill,” first made public in a Dept. of Defense report released on the Mercury-Neptune square of January 8th, would likely get more attention close to the March 8th Mercury-Neptune conjunction. Thus, I’m pleased to report that the “Navy demoted White House physician Ronny Jackson (R-TX) after probe into White House behavior.” Turns out that Jackson was demoted to captain in July 2022, after the completion of the DoD report (which wasn’t made public back then). Jackson continues to falsely claim he’s a retired rear-admiral. Astrology is amazing.
Second…assorted headlines reflecting the Mars-Uranus square, combined with Mercury-Neptune:
And this brings us up to the State of the Union. The scheduled start time of 9 PM ET was already auspicious, with the fixed star Spica on the 23 Libra Ascendant. Ahead of the event, I ran the transits on the SOTU chart, noting a provocative power play around 9:18 PM ET. So when former Senator Al Franken asked his Twitter followers, “what’s the over/under on when Marjorie Taylor Greene yells at POTUS?” I typed (at 9:04 PM ET), “around 9:18 PM ET, unless she chokes on the gum she’s chomping…” As it turned out, Biden was running late, and he entered the House chambers at….9:17 PM ET — power arrives! And within two minutes, as he walked through the crowd, guess who got right in his face? Marjorie Taylor Greene. Alas, the response to astrology’s accurate call was…crickets.
Meanwhile, before Biden’s arrival, WaPo journalists providing color commentary couldn’t stop talking about the surprisingly upbeat, energetic and “jovial mood” of the crowd in the House. Jovial? As in:
…not to mention the literally jovial condition of Biden’s natal Mars (in Scorpio, which needs to act with forceful depth, substance, and precision), amplified by transiting Jupiter! And that’s pretty much how the SOTU speech went, as you can see and/or read here.
I didn’t watch the live broadcast of the Republican response to Biden’s address, but within the hour there was so much fuss about it on the Twitter, that I checked out what we know about the horoscope of Katie Britt, the better of Alabama’s two senators, perhaps. Born Feb 2, 1982 in Montgomery, AL (time unknown), we can appreciate Britt being pushed into the spotlight, given transiting Jupiter (expansion) squaring her Sun-Mercury in Aquarius, and opposing her “woman on a mission” natal Jupiter in Scorpio. Without a birth time, she has Moon somewhere between 21 Taurus or 5 Gemini — what do you think? Late Taurus/early Gemini would give her a Moon-Uranus opposition — quite the maverick. More concerning is a trio of planets: Mars, Saturn and Pluto in conflict-averse Libra square her Venus — retrograde — in strategic, “know your place” Capricorn. The squares to Venus from Saturn and Pluto suggest a severity and/or controls in matters of who, what, and how she needs to love…and the Pluto connection adds emotional extremes. Ya think?
On March 7, Britt had two exact patterns that would give any astrologer pause. First, transiting South Node was on her Mars, suggesting a toxic release involving some kind of people-pleasing action or assertion, perhaps. Second, transiting Mercury was square her Neptune, and so, with a quick look at astrologer’s Rob Hand’s take, I posted this on the Twitter in response to a link to the video of Britt’s bizarre presentation:
In her synopsis of Biden’s SOTU speech, Heather Cox Richardson noted only that the fact that Republicans thought it would be awesome for a female U.S. senator to give a speech from her kitchen pretty much said it all. But if you happened to watch the rebuttal, one part that was especially disturbing was Britt’s account of a trip she’d taken to the border, where she met a woman who’d been the victim of sex trafficking…a point Britt felt a need to make in exceedingly graphic detail…at which point, I stopped watching, because it seemed that Britt was really getting off on telling this story, and it was creepy.
Now…here’s where the astrology gets interesting. Planetary patterns strongly advised against distorting the truth, yes? And by the end of the following day — International Women’s Day — independent journalist Jonathan M. Katz (not the mainstream media) made the most of the investigative potential of the weekend’s Mercury-Pluto sextile and dug up the facts on the woman in Britt’s story. Here is his riveting presentation. Then, the good folks at SNL spent all day Saturday writing a brilliant cold open, in which Scarlett Johansson put Britt’s cynical, distorted reality into proper, illuminating perspective, just as Mercury entered Aries, adding prominence to any message launched. Fun fact: transiting Mercury was squaring Johansson’s Neptune on Saturday — the same pattern that should have cautioned Britt against distorting truth! In Johansson’s case, the Mercury-Neptune contact serves as pixie-dust that is appropriate, given that everyone knows she is acting, and we are all in on the joke. Right?
As for Britt, she spent her weekend on talk shows, lying about having lied, whilst the sex trafficking victim in Britt’s distorted story (Karla Jacinto Romero, now an activist) gave her own interview to set the record straight.
Speaking of distortions…
It was Mothers’ Day in the UK, and Buckingham Palace released a photo of Princess Catherine and her three children. Catherine has not been seen in public since the Christmas holidays. She is recovering from an abdominal surgery, details of which are unknown. As it turns out, reflecting the wiggy potential of the weekend’s Mercury-Neptune conjunction, the photograph was pulled almost as soon as it was released because it was not a photo of any real moment in time. In other words, the photo had been Photoshopped…big time.
It can be ghoulish to write about sensitive matters — e.g., death and illness — involving public figures. But this weird incident made me examine Catherine’s horoscope, as well as Prince William’s. As noted previously, William has a 27 Sagittarius Ascendant, and Neptune — which dissolves whatever it touches — is squaring it. Translation: we can appreciate potential bewilderment or wipe-out. Meanwhile, transiting Saturn has just squared Mercury — ruler of his 7th house –– the public and his spouse. Translation: a potential gravitas, cuts, losses and/or added responsibilities in these matters.
In Catherine’s horoscope (note that the birth time is unconfirmed), we immediately see that three planets and possibly her MC/IC axis (public status and family of origin), were eclipsed last October. The eclipse was triggered at the end of December — and that’s the last time Catherine was seen in public. Just like that — out of sight. If the 7 PM birth time is correct, we may see a change of status later this month, as transiting Uranus — ruler of her presumed 7th house — opposes her presumed Leo Ascendant. Translation: a potential need for greater independence with respect to the public and partnership concerns.
OK…what else…
…did you watch the Oscars? Oppenheimer won big, as anticipated. Acceptance speeches reflected a humanitarian spirit (example: Emma Stone) and a celebration of individual uniqueness (example Da’Vine Joy) — very Mars square Uranus with Sun sextile Uranus. Mercury conjunct Neptune in Pisces was reflected in plenty of pixie-dust (as predicted), with plenty of mermaid dresses, as in this from Vogue, “Shells! Sequins! Fishtails!” Yes, astrology is reflected in fashion, too.
File this under “I told you so” (because I told you last Monday to watch for him in the news this weekend, with Mercury at the verrrrry end of Pisces, on the Aries Point): Alexei Navalny was prominently featured in the opening of the Oscars’ In Memoriam tribute.
Finally…
…it is interesting that Beth Owl’s Daughter’s always-in-sync Tarot Card of the Week is one that hasn’t been seen since August 2021 and conveys an image of a bully seemingly victorious. August 2021 was when I took notice of what Tucker Carlson was doing during the Tokyo Olympics: broadcasting from Budapest, presenting Hungary’s “illiberal democracy” as a model for the future of the United States. I was compelled then to write about Viktor Orban’s horoscope for my column in Mountain Astrologer.
Guess where Orban was over the weekend? Visiting the man who just put his daughter-in-law Lara “anyone who doesn’t support my father-in-law is no longer welcome in the Republican Party” Tr#mp, in control of the Republican National Party, (which today is “an absolute bloodbath,” with scores of staffers sacked). This same man, whom a jury found liable for the sexual assault and defamation of E. Jean Carroll (to the tune of $91 million), lauded Orban for being “a non-controversial figure because he says, ‘This is the way it’s going to be,’ and that’s the end of it. Right? He’s the boss.”
I don’t know about you, but I prefer my fearless leaders not to behave like mobsters.
In this last full week of Pisces, let’s all be kind…and keep the faith. Remember that time is not linear. What appears to be the end of the world, is just a cue for a new cycle to begin.
Here’s the 411 on personal consultations.

Monday 3/4/2024: New Moon in Pisces; Analyzing a Truckload of News; Thoughts on Saturn
/in The ForecastAllrighty then!
After the big heaviness of last week’s patterns (reflecting the bigness of those involving Jupiter and the heaviness of those involving Saturn), this week features the shocking upsets and revelations of patterns involving Uranus combined with the ideals and/or delusions of Mercury conjunct Neptune and dirt-digging potential of Mercury with Pluto. Fasten your seat belt for yet another wild week of world events.
For a look at what’s on deck, check out historian Heather Cox Richardson’s latest, which covers it all, including likely developments in Israel/Gaza and a SCOTUS opinion on the sexual predator/fraudster/Viktor Orban fanboy running for president, who — for better or for worse — is enjoying supportive and expansive patterns in his horoscope today.
UPDATE: the opinion was just released, and the bottom line seems to be (I haven’t read the full text yet) that individual states don’t get to decide who gets to be on the presidential ballot; that power is reserved for Congress in this particular instance. Score another one for the former guy’s horoscope.
Planetary highlights this week are:
It goes like this:
Here is the chart for the New Moon, set in Washington, D.C.:
Observations:
Back to the Forecast:
Beth Owl’s Daughter’s always-in-sync Tarot Card of the Week captures the intuitive, visionary potential of this New Moon in Pisces, after the flashes of action and insight we are may see in the days before.
No sleeping in on Monday.
And now, the news.
Big and heavy, with a focus on CEOs and heads of state. Avid Readers were alerted to this potential of Wednesday’s Sun-Saturn-Mercury conjunction in Pisces (that was the heavy). “Big” was sponsored in part by Tuesday’s square between Mars (action) and Jupiter, and reinforced over the weekend, with the Jupiter’s sextile to the Sun and Mercury.
Also in the mix: Sunday’s square between Venus and Uranus, suggesting news of convention-defying women, aesthetics, money, and social expression.
Ready?
And now, a word about Saturn. After its exact conjunction with Sun-Mercury last Wednesday, Saturn arrived at 10 degrees Pisces — a third of the way into the sign. In doing so, it has lost its essential dignity. This is the technical term for describing how effective that planet — and whatever needs the planet symbolizes — may be in fulfilling its needs. If you were an Avid Listener of Off the Charts: A Stellar Newscast, you may recall co-host Whitney McKnight and me talking about this last year.
Up until February 29th, Saturn (which refers to necessary control, strategy, structure, and authority figures), was operating from a position of fearful focus in matters ruled by Pisces. Empathy, surrender, and sacrifice are Piscean concerns, as is the notion that We Are All One. We can appreciate how Saturn’s need for structure is challenged by the material it’s given to work with in Pisces: water!
In ancient/traditional astrology, Jupiter is the ruler of Pisces, so any planet in Pisces must modify its behavior to meet the needs of Jupiter. Where is Jupiter now? In Taurus, which seeks to preserve material comfort and stability. Therefore, when fearfully focused, Saturn’s need for control and authority could astro-logically be expected to reflect a kinder, gentler expression because it so anxious about the loss of comfort, should it fail to accommodate Jupiter. Got that?
As of February 29th, Saturn no longer has essential dignity. It is considered to be peregrine — i.e., a foreigner (and thus perhaps regarded with suspicion), and a wanderer (i.e., operating without focus). It is not invested in accommodating Jupiter’s need for comfort and security. It’s no longer anxious. Not only that, but the cooperative sextile relationship that Jupiter and Saturn have enjoyed for most of the last 12 months is separating. This is another pattern that tips us off to the challenges ahead.
What challenges might those be? For example, on May 25th, Jupiter leaves Taurus and enters Gemini, where it is essentially debilitated (this is the technical term). Jupiter needs to make things grow…and Gemini needs to diversify. Trivial pursuits may be blown out of proportion; there may be so many options — especially with respect to information — that it could be as frustrating and debilitating as a trip to a fancy foods store that has 57 varieties of mustard in Aisle 7. Research shows that having so many choices is not always a path to happiness.

UPDATE: on Jim Jordan, because the Feb 16th First Quarter Moon activated his horoscope, and I told you he’d be in the headlines — and he was. Why? Here’s a hint: the horoscope of Rep. James Comer (R-KY), the apparently gullible Chair of the House Oversight Committee was also activated (Aug 19, 1972 in Carthage, TN). Comer’s Sun is at 26 Leo; Jordan’s is at 28 Aquarius, in a militantly disciplined, rebellious conjunction with Mars and Saturn. We are going to see provocative action involving these two gents as Mars arrives at 27 Aquarius on the Vernal Equinox…and Uranus gets to 26 Taurus a few months later.
Anyhoo, Jordan and Comer brought Hunter Biden into a closed-door hearing last Wednesday — the big heavy Moon-void day of no consequence — and Biden had them for lunch, it seems — and here is the transcript. Plus, their star witness — Alexander Smirnov — was arrested (again!) — and it seems the information he gave to the FBI regarding Hunter Biden was given to Smirnov by…Russian intelligence.

UPDATE: on Flaco the Owl, whose sad demise was reported last week. “Flaco’s crash might have been more than bad luck. Here’s what we know.” There is going to be an autopsy, and they will be looking for signs “poisoning that can cloud the brain” — i.e., consistent with transiting Neptune conjunct Flaco’s Mercury. And just as I am about to post this forecast at 8:10 PM ET, this NYT op-ed, “Flaco never had a chance,” provides further details — with poison a likely suspect. Flaco was exquisite in every way.
UPDATE: that story about the White House “pill mill” is starting to get a little more media attention — Rolling Stone has followed up on its January 24 story with “Trump’s White House was awash in speed and Xanax” — let’s see where this story is at on March 8th, the day of the Mercury-Neptune conjunction.

Avid Readers know that astrology applies to everything — not the news. We see these patterns everywhere…for instance…the gender-bender potential of Sunday’s Venus-Uranus square is aptly expressed in this SNL sketch whose conceit is that cast member Bowen Yang is actually straight. Why is this sketch in the show NOW? That is what astrology answers.
And writer Greg Olear continues to write in sync with planetary patterns, especially on Sundays, when he showcases favorite authors, poets and other artists. Yesterday, the spotlight shone on poet Laura Gilpin and two of her poems. First, “Two-Headed Calf”. OK…a two-headed calf, on a weekend with Venus in Aquarius square Uranus in…Taurus, which refers to bovines…and of course, the Venus-Uranus square suggests a genetic mutation. Second, “Life After Death” — with a nod to how “bleak” the headlines were last week…hello…Sun-Saturn-Mercury conjunction!
Reading Olear’s tribute, I immediately knew that there would be strong signatures in Gilpin’s horoscope involving Neptune and Uranus...and there are. Saturn is running wild, too — and currently transiting Saturn is square her Mars! Gilpin’s birth date — October 10, 1950 — somewhere in Wisconsin; time unknown. She even has a Venus-Uranus square — and this synchronicity happens All. The. Time. What other patterns do you see, astro-students and pros? P.S. — Gilpin may be deceased, but her horoscope lives forever…
Here’s the 411 on personal consultations. We will have a fine discussion together.
Thank you for supporting this forecast — and sharing it with friends. And thanks to Avid Reader Phil for suggesting I add an annual subscription to the options . I was today years old when I learned how to do that…and it’s fun to learn something new every day
