Monday 9/20/2021: Sneak Peek at the Week; Full Moon in Pisces: Autumnal Equinox & More

(Note:

Here’s how I know Mercury is under stressed aspects this week: I haven’t been able to ship the forecast I wrote and tried to send yesterday. I can’t figure out for the life of me why Mailchimp has refused to send it out, but the amazing Mark Marshall at Interage is working on it.

For future reference, forecasts are always posted on my website before Mailchimp sends them out. They are also posted on Twitter — @graceastrology —  so do check those sites occasionally if nothing has been sent to your inbox.

Onward!)

Intuition, feelings, and other sensitivities have likely been on the rise today, reflecting the waxing Full Moon in Pisces, exact at 7:54 PM ET. ‘Tis the Harvest Moon, and CNN has all the info on why this Full Moon is so big in the sky because they looked it up on the website of EarthSky). Good job, CNN!

A Full Moon offers illumination on opposing needs. Full Moon in Pisces takes in the dry, critical faculties of the Virgo Sun and reflects back a need for a dreamy vision. Here is the chart for the Full Moon, set in Washington, D.C. It contains a few patterns in effect not only this week but for the next few months.

Observations:

  • First, let’s talk about Mercury. Over the week, Mercury will be slowing to a virtual standstill, preparing to turn retrograde on September 27th. BACK UP YOUR COMPUTERS AND SMARTPHONES NOW. Right now Mercury is conjunct Spica, a most fortunate Fixed Star. Got any brilliant ideas? There should be plenty, especially since Mercury is trine Jupiter — exact at 6:52 PM ET. Mercury is also square Pluto and opposing the dwarf planet Eris. Brilliant ideas may be persuasive in the extreme. Investigative reporters may have a field day digging up dirt. If dirt isn’t being dug up, mud may be flung — by those demanding a seat at the table. These alignments among Mercury (how we need to think), Jupiter (expansion), Pluto (power & resources), and Eris (Hell hath no fury…) will occur three times between this week and November 2nd. Got that?
  • After squaring Saturn last Friday, Venus will oppose Uranus this Thursday. Venus refers to money, women, values, and art; Saturn refers to cuts and controls; Uranus refers to innovation and disruption. Did you see Friday’s story about concerns that Evergrande, the ginormous Chinese real estate company, would default on billions and billions of debt? How about the story about how fiscally responsible Republicans, led by Mitch McConnell, say they will vote to default on the national debt (because government shutdowns are so exciting?). Today the markets were “wild,” and the Dow dropped 600 points, reportedly in response to Evergrande. This volatile Venus-Uranus opposition won’t repeat three times between now and November. However, it will be in the chart for Wednesday’s Autumnal Equinox, a.k.a. the first day of Fall, which we can use to manage expectations until the Winter Solstice. Clear?
  • The Sabian Symbols for this Full Moon are: “a prism” (for the Pisces Moon); and “a man gaining secret knowledge from a paper he is reading” (for the Virgo Sun). Oh, lookie, an echo of the potential for serious dirt-digging suggested by the patterns among Mercury, Jupiter, and Pluto! Over the next couple of weeks, watch for stories of puzzles solved after all the pieces are put together — or finding the one piece that finally makes sense of it all.  Refer to the preceding links for more details.
  • This Full Moon is at 28 Pisces, close to the verrrrry end of the zodiac. I’ve said this before: planets at the end of Pisces can reflect a feeling that the world is about to end. But the world tells us otherwise, all the time, as we experience everything in cycles. Pisces may be the end of one cycle, but a new one will soon begin. Remember this — and don’t despair!
  • You are more personally affected by this Full Moon if you have planets or angles around 28 degrees of Pisces, Virgo, Gemini and Sagittarius. Off the top of my head, that includes Alexei Navalny and Edward Snowden.

Here’s the forecast for the rest of the week:

  • TUESDAY: Moon charged into me-me-me Aries on Monday at 11:12 PM ET. Arise, go forth and start something. An intense morning workout would be a healthy channel for the Moon-Mars opposition at 7:02 AM ET. Otherwise, sparks may fly. Assertive energy may be communicated with gravitas, reflecting the Moon’s sextile with Saturn at 12:43 PM ET. Leaders of state and business will command attention over the next couple of days, as the Sun is at the verrry end of Virgo/early Libra, activating the Aries Point. How apt that President Biden will make his first address to the United Nations, attempting to convince world leaders (says the Guardian), that America is ready to usher in “a new era of diplomacy.”
  • WEDNESDAY:  Mercury squares Pluto at 9:11 AM ET, driving yesterday’s message home. At 3:21 PM ET, the Sun exits Virgo and enters Libra, the sign of the scales.

A pause, while we talk about Libra. It’s an airy, mental sign, generally concerned with relationships, social graces, and promoting fairness, justice, and balance. Its ruling planet is Venus, which can be oh-so-sweet and socially gracious. Libra’s mantra is I BALANCE. This does not mean Librans are balanced; it means they generally are seeking balance and are quite capable of swinging back and forth wildly as they search for it.

Did you know that Fox News (motto: “fair and balanced”) launched under a Libra Sun? If you’re now thinking “wow, there must be a lot more to a horoscope than just a Sun Sign,” I commend you. As sweet as Libra can be, they are not marshmallows. The term “iron fist in a velvet glove” often applies. Jimmy Carter is a Libra. So was Margaret Thatcher.  Tim Robbins, John Lithgow, Lee Harvey Oswald, Julie Andrews, and Maria von Trapp (inspired casting?) — all Libras.

The Sun’s ingress into Libra means that it’s the first day of fall. Did you know that the Sun is considered to be in its fall when it’s in Libra? In the language of astrology, when a planet is in fall, it means it is traveling through a sign that is not compatible with the planet’s essential nature. The Sun is all about ego recognition, around which everything (and everyone) revolves. It needs to be this way. But Libra needs to be focused on WE, not ME. Maybe that’s why one of Libra’s traits is indecisiveness.

Back to the week:

  • WEDNESDAY: the crusading drive of the Aries Moon gets a boost from Jupiter at 7:43 PM ET. Make your pitches during the day, before this Moon-Jupiter sextile is exact. If you’re still talking in the evening, be advised that the Moon makes its weekly clash with Pluto at 9:37 PM ET, then opposes Mercury at 10:04 PM ET. Sounds like a recipe for a proclamation — or argument — in the extreme. Moon goes void for the next ten and a half hours — chill, chill CHILL. Remember that crises that crop up during Moon voids are often much ado about nothing. Roll with the twists and flakes, especially the wacky ones that may occur before 5:40 AM ET on…
  • THURSDAY: …as Venus is opposed by Uranus. As a research project, keep an eye on the markets overseas.  At 8:38 AM ET, Moon regains its focus and enters Taurus, seeking to build and maintain material comfort and security. That’s the objective all through the day, as the Moon travels without interference. The evening may be heavy, especially around 10:39 PM ET, when Moon squares Saturn.
  • FRIDAY: More Moon in Taurus, determined to make things The Way They Should Be. Last night’s heaviness may get a pushback around lunchtime, as Moon meets up with rebel Uranus at 12:56 PM ET. Moon opposes Venus at 4:15 PM ET, suggesting an illumination of true value,  for better or worse.
  • SATURDAY: If you’re a night owl and a creative type, you can make good use of the constructive energy of the Taurus Moon as it connects with Neptune, Jupiter, and Pluto in the wee hours. Otherwise, note your dreams upon waking. After the 9:09 AM ET trine to Pluto, Moon goes void for the next eleven and a half hours. You could indulge in the usual Moon-in-Taurus delights: good food, sweet music, a snuggle with your sweetie. You could also continue to harness the easy flow of assertive/authoritarian energy of Mars in Libra as it trines Saturn in Aquarius, exact at 5:50 PM ET. The challenge here is that Mars is not at its best in Libra. If Mars was in Aries or Capricorn or Scorpio, it would be ruthlessly and effectively executing its action-packed agenda. In Libra, Mars may dither, avoid conflict, make nice-nice agreements for the sake of appearances, while seething with resentment. Keep that potential in mind as Congress is back in session this week. Moon enters Gemini at 8:36 PM ET, facilitates more chit-chat.
  • SUNDAY: Moon makes a brief Air Grand Trine to Saturn and Mars at 10:56  AM ET and 11:56 AM ET, respectively. Some say a Grand Trine is lucky, enabling people who have them to act as if they are above the law. A Grand Trine is also a defensive posture in relationships. In Air Signs, it suggests someone who puts out an aura of intellectual self-sufficiency, i.e., not asking others for input. Let’s see how the headlines reflect that potential. Meanwhile…BACK UP YOUR COMPUTERS AND SMARTPHONES, as Mercury is at its station and will turn retrograde at 1:10 AM ET on MONDAY.

Stay tuned to this channel for updates. There is a lot going on in the cosmos over the next several weeks — too much to fit into one forecast, as Heather Cox Richardson observed.
